Pillar base mounting

Pillars can be mounted as follows:

Mounting with ANCHOR BOLTS / on foundation Mounting with COMPACT ANCHORS / on foundation *) Mounting with TOP ANCHORS / on foundation Mounting with RESIN BOLTS / on concrete floor *) Special mounting *)

2.1

Mounting with anchor bolts (using supporting rings)

Prior to crane assembly check whether the foundation has been executed in accordance with foundation instructions and preset minimum dimensions. If it is still available, remove anchor bolt template! Anchor bolts shall not be dressed by heat treatment! Warning! Pillars featuring screw pitch circle DL shall not be mounted directly with resin bolts, dowels or equivalent fixings! Resin anchors require special larger plates (Please ask for information).

2.1.1 Note:

Danger of crane tilting in case of non-observance! 2.1.2 Position pillar (S1) right next to the foundation, introduce the cable into the pillar (H1) and pull it out of switch opening (S8). 2.1.3 Screw an adjusting nut (V2) on each anchor bolt (V1), attach steel washer (V3) and supporting ring (V4). All rings (V4) shall be aligned on the same level! The difference in height between upper edges of the rings shall not exceed 1/1000 of the respective distance! It is not allowed to mount the pillar on some aligned rings only (e.g. only 4 rings)! 2.1.4 Position pillar (S1) on adjusting nuts (V2), apply washers (V3) and rings (V4). 2.1.5 Secure pillar (S1) by means of washers (V3) and nuts (V5) and also tighten lower
adjusting nuts (V2).

2.1.6 Align pillar vertically (S1) with a level, align it via the adjusting nuts (V2) and (V5) and
tighten the bolts.

Attention: In order to avoid the overload of a particular anchor bolt during alignment, all neighbouring adjusting nuts (V2) have to be aligned proportionately! At this stage of assembly the pillar is only pre-aligned by means of a level. Final crane alignment takes place after assembly of the jib, see item 9. 2.1.7 Remove adhesive tapes on the pillar ring (S3), if any. *) refer to separate assembly instructions

While mounting the pillar (S1) please provide easy access to the main switch opening (S8) and the main switch (E2), respectively!

Accurate alignment of pillar and jib

Pillar and jib are accurately aligned by means of adjusting nuts (V2) and (V5) (see sketch on page 9). Attention: In order to avoid the overload of a particular anchor bolt during alignment, all neighbouring adjusting nuts (V2) have to be aligned proportionately!

9.2

Jib (A1) and pillar (S1) shall be aligned in such a way that the jib can stop at any slewing position, it shall not move independently. Tighten upper nuts (V5) with torque Ma=100 Nm after alignment. Note: Once proper alignment has been achieved, immediately proceed to underfill the base!

9.3

Note: The boom is provided with a cambered top in the works: the jib slightly goes up in the unloaded condition. How to proceed to check crane alignment

9.4.1 Position the hoist in the final front position. 9.4.2 Lower the hook on a preset level and provide a horizontal marking on the hook tackle (the position of the hoist and the hook shall not change during the measuring procedure in order to avoid distorted values). 9.4.3 Perform a complete slewing motion to determine possible deviations of the laser on the marking.

Underfilling and mounting (with supporting rings)

Only proceed to pour the concrete after complete assembly and accurate alignment of the jib (see item 9). Underfill the base immediately after final alignment of the slewing crane!

14.2

Base underfilling shall be done with utmost care: o The crane base shall be underfilled over the complete base area! (pouring around the crane base is insufficient and inadmissible) o The crane base shall not be embedded completely in order to allow inspections of anchor bolts. o Minimum concrete quality: class B25 (DIN1045) or C20/25 (DINEN206-1)

14.3

ATTENTION! Only tighten the anchor nuts (V5), check the load capacity and the put crane into operation after complete concrete hardening (after 28 days according to DIN standards). The use of rapid-action materials (e. g. PCI mortar 50) can reduce the period between crane assembly and crane acceptance, if it is provided. In case the concrete hardening time will not be respected, it may result in an excessive deflection and overloading of crane components. Concrete shrinking during hardening may cause a small gap (not perceptible in most of the cases) between crane base (S2) and concrete. To overbridge this gap supporting rings (V4) are placed under the crane base (S2). They also ensure that the anchor bolts (V1) are only stressed by tensile loads, i. e. the bolts do not become subject of alternating stresses.
