NetOp School TS Setup Guide

Synopsis:
This document details the setup of NetOp School and NetOp Remote Control modules where a Teacher running outside the TS environment (i.e.: a networked PC or fat client) is required to control Students that run within the TS environment.

Module Setup on a Terminal Server:


Always install NetOp Modules (School and Remote Control) from the Terminal Server console utility: Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>Add New Programs

Is a NetOp Gateway Module Required?


If NetOp School modules running on the terminal server communicate with modules running on the same terminal server, the NetOp Gateway is not required. If NetOp School modules running on the terminal server are required to communicate with NetOp School modules running outside the terminal server (i.e.: on networked PCs or fat clients), the NetOp Gateway should be installed and running on the terminal server console.

Install Gateway: 1) Under Add New Programs (Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>Add New
Programs), select CD or Floppy, click Next and Browse to the location of the NetOp Gateway MSI file and select Open:

2) Click Next to begin installation. If prompted, click Run when the Open File Security 3)
Warning window appears. The installation process should now begin. When the Welcome to the NetOp Gateway Setup Wizard screen appears, click Next.

4) Select I accept the terms in the licence agreement and click Next. 5) Enter your user, organisation and serial number details and click Next to continue:

6) At the Setup Type screen, select Complete and the Restart Warning screen will
appear. Leave the option labelled Restart Service if Needed ticked and click Next.

7) Make sure the option labelled Allow NetOp Gateway to Accept Incoming Network
Connections and click Next to continue. 8) Click the Install button to begin installation of the Gateway module. 9) Once installation is complete, leave the Launch the NetOp Gateway Product option ticked and then click Finish. 10) Click Next on the terminal server After Installation screen and then click Finish when the Finish Admin Install window appears:

Configure Gateway:
1) Start the NetOp Gateway module if not already running. 2) Click Next to proceed when the Welcome to the NetOp Remote Control Setup Wizard screen appears. 3) When the Wizard Mode screen appears, select Custom and click Next to continue.

4) Setup Communication Profiles: i) In the Select Communication Profiles screen, make sure TCP/IP and Terminal Server options are ticked:

ii) Select the TCP/IP Communication Profile and click the Edit button. iii) In the Communication Profile Edit screen, click Advanced:

iv) In the Advanced TCP/IP Configuration screen, uncheck the option labelled Use
default port numbers and change the port number from 6502 to 1971 for both the send and receive port. OK the changes to get back to the Select Communication Profiles screen and click Next to continue:

5) When the Host Program Options screen appears, select the startup options as shown in
the following screenshot and click Next to continue:

6) When the Guest Access Security screen appears, select the option All Guests have the
same password and click Next.

7) Specify the Guest Access password and click Next. 8) Click Finish to complete the Setup Wizard.
Close the Gateway module once the installation/configuration is completed to begin the installation of the Student module.

Install Student: 1) Under Add New Programs (Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>Add New
Programs), select CD or Floppy, click Next and Browse to the location of the NetOp Student MSI file and select Open.

2) Click Next to begin installation. If prompted, click Run when the Open File Security
Warning screen appears.

3) Click Next when the Welcome to NetOp School Student Setup Wizard screen appears:

4) At the End-User Licence Agreement screen, select the option labelled I accept the 5)
terms in the license agreement and click Next to continue. Enter the user, organisation and serial number information and click Next to continue:

6) Choose the Complete setup type option, the installation process will continue. 7) Ensure the option labelled Allow NetOp School Student to accept incoming network
connections is ticked and click Next.

8) Once the Ready to Install screen appears, click Install to begin the installation of the
Student module.

9) Click Finish to complete the installation process. 10) Click Next on the terminal server After Installation screen running in the background
and then click Finish when the Finish Admin Install window appears:

Configure Student:
1) Start the Student module if not already running. 2) Click Next when the Welcome to the NetOp School Setup Wizard screen appears. 3) Select the following startup options as shown in the following screenshot:

*Note: Also select Stealth Mode if the Student module is not required to appear in the Task Tray. This also ensures that Students cannot leave the Class in session when the Protection Password is not used. Once the required startup options are set, click Next to continue. 4) Enter the Classroom details:

i) The class name entered in the Connect to class dialogue box should match the name that is
to be set on the Teacher module during the Teacher configuration. ii) Change the Identify Student by option to Login as and enter the following into the Enter name dialogue box: %username%

Click Next once the criteria shown in the above screenshot have been met.

5) When the Communication Profile screen appears, use the drop-down menu to select
the Terminal Server profile. Click Next to continue:

6) Click Finish to complete the setup wizard.


Close the Student module and then start the Gateway module.

Install Teacher:
*Note: The Teacher module setup can be started by running the "NetOpSchoolTeacher_UK.msi" file directly because it will run on a machine outside the terminal server environment (i.e.: desktop PC or fat client install).

1) Run the "NetOpSchoolTeacher_UK" setup file to begin the installation process. 2) If prompted, click Run when the Open File Security Warning screen appears. 3) When the Welcome to Netop School Teacher Setup Wizard appears, click Next to 4) 5)
continue. Select the option labelled I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. Enter the user, company and serial number details and click Next to continue installation:

6) Select Complete when the Setup Type screen appears, installation will continue. 7) Make sure the option labelled Allow NetOp School Teacher to accept incoming network 8) 9)
connections is ticked and click Next to continue installation. Click Install to begin installation. Once installation is complete, click Finish and open the Teacher module to run the configuration wizard.

Configure Teacher: 1) If Teacher is not already running, open the Teacher program and click Next when the 2)
Welcome to the NetOp School setup wizard screen appears to begin configuration of the Teacher module. Enter the same Class Name that was entered during the Student configuration. The Class Name must be the same on both Teacher and Student otherwise they will not communicate with each other. Select the Feature Set to be used and click Next to continue:

3) Choose the Student identification you wish to use (i.e.: Student login name) and click
Next to continue:

4) Leave the TCP/IP Communication Profile option selected and click Next:

5) Click Finish to complete the Setup Wizard.
