TITLE: Historical Trends In Human Resource Issues of Hospital Nursing in the Past Generation In this study, they emphasized that human resource system is important and this was seen during the 1990s. According to Khatri et al, the human factor is essential to healthcare and its proper management remained distant to health care organizations (2006) when in fact Strategic management of human resource in health care is indeed important to delivering high-quality care. In this journal, they used 3 oldest journals to meet the goal of the study in which they were able to come up with 8 themes. Productivity and patient safety received the highest number reported human theme and the focus was on quality care. Individual human resource functions. Khatri and colleagues (2006) claimed that in the 1990s, strategic human resource issues in the hospital started to surface. In this theme they emphasized evidence-based practice. Staffing, scheduling, work content and flow. Theme 4 of work content and flow showed an emphasis over the past 30 years. This finding suggested that nurses functions have been expanded, and the importance of nurses roles in hospital care teams has been gradually clarified over the past 30 years. Since 2000, staffing has emerged as an important human resource issue. The global shortage of nurses and the increased emphasis on patient safety may have contributed to this trend, such as linking skill mix and nurse-patient ratios to patient safety and clinical outcomes. Human resource management is an important part of health care organizations since the people are the ones rendering care to the patients as Fagerstrom states that more than ever before, effective resource allocation must be prioritized (2011). Based from our learnings in management, I can say that the eight themes identified are still present nowadays and is bounded by the different existing theories in management. An example would be on salary which is related to scientific management and on working conditions which is derived from Herzbergs theory. In all of the journals related to this study evidence-based practice was the most imperative part of human resource in which Ayuningtyas, et al, said that it is necessary that a monthly work performance assessment for civil servants is conducted (2011) and that patients care needs should be met. In the journal is was said that to equip future and current nursing leaders and

managers with appropriate capacity to have macro-level visions, graduate nurse educators should incorporate the concepts of organizational politics and economics in health care settings in graduate-level management courses. These concepts are essential to address not only the structure oriented human resource issues, but also process oriented and outcome-oriented ones for hospital nursing services. I believe it also necessary that as early as our undergraduate course we must already have concepts in management to prepare us and give us basic knowledge on what and how human resources are managed. Our subject organization and management then, will give us a common knowledge that human resource management is important and a key factor in the success of every health care organization.
