System of education
Educational programmes are based on a seminar and lecture system. Seminars are in general smaller discussion groups, with active student participation. Attendance in the case of seminars/practical courses is compulsory. Information concerning acceptable absences from seminars and the consequences of absences will be announced at the beginning of the course.

3.

Registration for courses

You need to register online, using the neptun-system. First of all you have to create your Neptun account: http://neptun.unideb.hu/?page=studeng After that you can login to the NEPTUN site, using your ID and created password, and you can register for courses and exams. Registration for each course must be done by the end of the 2nd week of term-time; until this deadline you are allowed to add/drop courses freely. When registering for a course, remember to check the prerequisites (previous studies required for the course)

During your semester study: 1. Classes

At the beginning of the course the instructor/lecturer will give you the syllabus (course description) of the given course, which informs you about the requirements, required readings, prerequisites, i.e., which other previously completed courses are required if you want to sign up for a certain course.
2.

Attendance
Lectures constitute an organic part of the education process, therefore, the University expects students to attend them regularly. Attendance in the case of seminars/practical courses is obligatory i.e. it cannot be replaced by a special examination or report - with some variation depending on the actual specifications of the individual course requirements. Information concerning the total number of permitted absences and the consequences of absences will be announced at the beginning of the course. If the students absences exceed the above number, no practical grade can be awarded.

3.

The mid-term period

In some courses the lecturers announce a mid-term test to check learning. If a student fails to fulfil the in-term requirements of a course, she/he can not go ahead to the final exam in the examination session and the entry Not completed will be entered in his/her credit book

4.

Exam period
Students may register for exams through the Neptun academic system. Registration for the exam may be altered or cancelled up to 12 noon on the day before the examination. If a student has cancelled his/her registration for the examination, s/he can only sign up for another examination date that is not yet fully booked. The student has to take the exams before the close of the examination period. The minimum number of examination dates per course is three; please note that the last examination date may be reserved for students who have already received a grade in the given subject/course. The instructors giving the examination are not obliged to appoint a new examination date because of cancellations.

Please remember study culture and university culture may be completely different. As a student you are responsible for everything! You have to take care of all your affairs on your own! You are responsible for collecting all required documents and submitting them in due time to the appropriate offices, units, professors etc. If you miss deadlines, sometimes there would be no chance to remedy them and you will run into difficulties and lose the freedom to choose your options. Please be responsible and do everything you are asked in due time! The Faculty staff will offer you lots of help.
