Educators will be able to Define Web 2.0 tools Implement a Web 2.0 tool with a particular subject and Common Core Standard.

Stage 2- Assessment Evidence

Performance Tasks: As an experienced classroom teacher, instructional coach, and media specialist you know the classroom curriculum, however you also notice the lack of engagement, enthusiasm, and motivation to learn in your students/teachers. You are aware of the vast technology available today and correlate the various technologies with the impact it could have in the classroom. You have a subtle awareness of technology but lack the skills necessary to implement them successfully. You are concerned with reaching 21st century students effectively through effective curriculum instruction and therefore wish to further your knowledge and understanding of various Web 2.0 tools available for classroom use today. Self-Assessments: To demonstrate learning and understanding the following must occur: Select 5 Web 2.0 tools that correlate to your particular field. Determine one Web 2.0 tool that you would like to implement in the classroom and design an activity with it View and become comfortable with all Web 2.0 tools listed on http://christyjacobs.weebly.com/

Other Evidence, Summarized Use critical thinking and inference skills to determine appropriate Web 2.0 tools that would correlate with classroom

curriculum. Become comfortable with searching for and implementing technology tools in creating lesson plans for classroom instruction.

Stage 3 Learning Plan

Learning Activities: (Whereto Method) 1. Begin staff development course by asking What are your technology standards and where do I begin to implement them into my instruction? a. Teachers and Academic coaches will view the categories of the NETS-T&C graphic organizers to create a large scale picture of how technology plays a part in student learning, professionalism, and create connections between students, learning, and 21st century life. 2. Hook: How are students impacted by technology? Have teachers and coaches view A Vision of K-12 Students Today. a. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AZVCjfWf8&feature=share&list=PL39BE6F39E309316B b. Discuss reactions to the video and how it relates to ones current classroom procedures. 3. Equip: a. Continue discussion through explaining the purpose and goal of the staff development unit. b. Begin PowerPoint lesson through defining what a Web 2.0 tool is and how it can be implemented in the classroom. c. PowerPoint will continue through discussing how Web 2.0 tools can improve students participation, motivation, and engagement individually or collaboratively through a group project. d. Introduce staff to various Web 2.0 tools and their association with particular subjects- Weebly created website: http://christyjacobs.weebly.com/ There will be pre-made tools for staff to view: 1. Gloster Example 2. Voki Example e. Divide class into groups pertaining to their concentration subjects

(Reading/Math/Language/Storytelling) 1. Each group will find 5 web 2.0 tools that could be used for their subject. 2. The group will complete one of the five tools together for complete understanding of how to implement in the classroom. f. Teachers will present their complete Web 2.0 tool to the class. Rethink & Revise: a. Using their created lesson plans for the week, each teacher will rethink how a Web 2.0 tool could be implemented into instruction in the classroom. b. If a Web 2.0 tool is applicable for the given CCGPS that week, teachers will revise their lesson plan to include a Web 2.0 tool. Evaluate: a. While others are presenting their tools, teachers will evaluate their created Web 2.0 tool in terms of a given rubric. b. Teachers will be given a survey to evaluate their current methods of teaching with the methods of web 2.0 tools and the correlation with how 21st century students learn best. Tailored: a. The five websites that each group chose to correlate with their subject will be added to the online resources for Web 2.0 tools. The created example will also be added for other teachers to view. Through having a tailored website for available Web 2.0 tools by subject, teachers not able to come to the staff development will be able to still view and understand how the tool can be incorporated into the classroom. Extension: a. Have teachers prepare a lesson include a Web 2.0 tool where I (the media specialist) can come into the classroom to help implement with students.
