METUS LIBRARY USAGE

4.1. Working on Library Project You can create an asset on local computer or network from any video, audio, picture or document file in Library project. Source files are not deleted when created assets are deleted. You can see the original file location by right clicking on Asset and choose Locate on disk. But if you change the location, name and path of original file, you cannot access this file from Metus Library because in Library projects Metus keeps only the reference of the physical file. 4.2. Working on Archive Project In archive project, a copy file except the original file is created in Archive Disk or in defined tape cartridge. For more information about configuring of Archive Disks see Archive Servers. After that, even if you delete the original file, the file in your archive disk will not be deleted. One of the most important features of Metus Library is that archived files are not accessible from any program out of Metus Library. Metus Library uses a tunnel created by it while archiving files and accesses to files through that tunnel. If you want to use a file in your Archive disk on another location, right click the asset and choose Retrieve File. From the pop up window you can click Custom Folder and specify the target for your file. 4.3 Users and Groups Metus Library, can work on server-client architecture. Then the rights are given to this created group. Thus procedure is simplified by giving rights to groups rather than users individually. For creating groups; click Users and Groups option from Project menu. Click Add button in Groups tab.

Type the name of Group you want to use in Group Name. You can type a description defining your group in Description. Select the users to be added from All Users field on left and add them to Users of This Group field with > button. Finish the procedure with OK button.

Searching In Metus Library, It is possible to search in two different location. These are Searching on Active Project and Searching on All Opened Projects. In each of these locations, there is several searching method as following;

4.20.1. Simple Search You can search by typing any words. If keyword(s) is/are in any location of metadata, they are found.

27

4.20.2. Searching Category Each of your project assets may have categories. You can use these categories to search. To do this, select categories on Category tab in Search window, all assets assigned to these categories will be listed.

4.20.3. Advanced (Criterion Based) Search In Metus Library, an assets all Metadata fields default or added later can be used as individual search criterion. To do this; In Search window open Advanced Search tab. In this window right-click and choose Add Criterion option. In pop up window, select desired metadata belonging to asset and click Add button, and then type the criterions value to be searched. Click Search button. All assets proper to specified criterions will be displayed in search window. 4.20.4. Quick Search Works like simple search. When you type criterion you search in archive in search filed within toolbars and hit Enter key, all assets including that criterion is displayed in searching window.

28

4.20.5. Quick Find As you see from adjoining window there are some special searching functions defined by system. Asset type, Asset format, Rating, Not processed, having storyboard, having proxy, having virtual clip, Censored, having duplicated and archived onto tape functions enable you to find archived assets faster.

4.20.6. Using Filter in Searching You can use filters such as search only in audio assets, search only in video assets etc for search. To do this; choose filter you wish from Filter section on top of search window. In Metus Library, search results are listed in Search Results Page. Along the results, assets are listed according to searchers authorization (reading access).

4.20.7. Image Matching (Optional) For using Image Matching feature, MIRS and MIRS Manager services must be installed. Also assets must be indexed. Indexing is performed by MPS, and image searching and matching processes are performed by MIRS and MIRS Manager. Image matching logic works as listing result from most similar to less similar of criterion image. That is the first item on search results list is most similar and the last one is least similar according to image search engine.

29

4.20.7.1. Indexing For indexing an asset, right-click on asset and choose index -> index menu. MPS indexes selected asset(s) and saves in index folder as files. If index folder is not selected MPS doesnt index. Index folder is accessed from project->properties->other section. Index folder must be a shared folder. For collective indexing, select bin and choose Analyze, then select index, all assets within bin or bins can be indexed.

4.20.7.2. Image Search: For Image searching, MIRS Manager and MIRS service must be installed and run. From project properties, you can add any machine as MIRS server from Image Matching server section (like adding MPS or MAS to same project)

In Metus Library search window, image search is performed in Image section. For Image search only load the picture and click Search.

Fast: In Quick Search, there is no any detailed comparing. There is only exact matching. Success ratio is lower. Partial search: If you want to search the image you loaded partially, you must select this option, and then image is divided to 9 equal parts. You can search by selecting parts as desired. Maximum Number of Results: indicates the maximum number of results to be displayed. If setting high, less similar items are listed through the end of list. But, if setting to low, it may cause very similar results not to be shown. This number is determined by user according to project size and some various cases. Show Scenes: This option shows scenes of assets found in results as thumbnail. If this is not selected found assets icons are divided to four parts. Top left part is normal thumbnail
30

of asset. Top right part is the most similar. Parts below are other frames, if any, fond in video. (available only for video assets.) If this is not selected, as scenes are acquired by reviewing all existing assets, listing may take a long time. Show seperate assets for each scene: it this is selected and if search engine finds multiple but different frames similar to specified image in asset, shows individual copies from the same asset foe each frame and put found frame into thumbnail. (available only for video assets.) On drop down list under this option, image search engines belonging to this project are listed. If list is empty you cannot search. The control under this drop down list shows progress status. Browse button is used to select image you want to search. Search button starts searching. After starting searching, if desired assets appear before the end of search, it is possible to stop searching to save time. When assets, found with Image matching engine, are opened in Asset Viewer, Metus mark a red line on timeline for frames it found. Also it draws a white line on scene which found frame is included. Thus it is easy to see the length of scene that frame included. For Image assets, right-click on asset and choose Find Similar Assets, image matching engine again search for images similar to selected one and lists findings.
