1. Answer the following questions. (a) (b) [2 x 10]

Calculate R to make the lamp strikes 5 second after switch has been closed. A 3-phase star connected load is connected to a symmetrical 3-phase 440 V balanced supply. The current in each phase 60 A and lags 30 behind the corresponding phase voltage. Find the phase voltage and total power. An iron ring with a circular cross-section of 2 cm diameter and a mean circumference of 60 cm is wound with a coil of 250 turns. For an exciting current of 2 A in the coil, the flux is found out to be 1.5. Calculate the relative permeability of iron. (l0 = 4 x 107 H/m) What do you mean the term slip of B. Calculate the slip of a 4 pole induction motor running at 1740 rpm while being connects to a 60 Hz three phase source. Draw the torque speed characteristic of a 3- I.M. and 1- I.M. Two impedances 0.02 (30o) and 0.05 (50o) are connected in parallel. Find out the resultant impedance in rectangular form. Write down the expression for back emf of motor and explain various term.

State and briefly explain both super position theorem and Nortons theorem with one example each. (a) (b) An inductance of 0.8 H in series with a capacitance of 0.5 F. Find the impedance of the circuit when frequency is (i) 50 Hz and (ii) 1 k Hz. A current of 8 A flows through a non inductive resistance in series with a coil when supplied at 240 V, 50 Hz. If the voltage across resistance is 120 V and across the coil 180 V. Calculate the impedance, reactance and resistance of the coil (i) power absorbed by the oil. (ii) total power draw the complete phaser diagram.
