November 8, 2012 NJ TRANSIT BUS SERVICE: -Manhattan CommutersEmergency bus service will start tomorrow; 11/9/12. It will operate from the Convent Station rail station, and will offer an alternative travel option to downtown Manhattan. The bus service will take commuters to Statue Cruise Lines ferries at Liberty State Park. The ferry service will go to Battery Park at the tip of Manhattan. Both the bus service and the ferry service will be free. Buses will operate from 5:30 am to 9:00am for the morning rush, and from 4:00pm to 8:00pm for the return from Liberty State Park. Odd/Even Gas Rationing Begins in New York City on Friday Nassau and Suffolk counties will join New York City in adopting the rationing measure tomorrow.

SHELTER:
For those without power/heat, temperatures have become dangerously low at night. Please consider the warmth of the Mennen Arena tonight. It's a pet friendly shelter. The Mennen Arena is also open to those who do not need shelter but want a hot shower and / or a hot meal. Beginning at noon tomorrow, the shelter will be moved to the gymnasium at the Public Safety Training Academy, which has a limited capacity. The animal shelter will also be moved to the Academy tomorrow as well. Social workers through the County Office of Temporary Assistance will be working with all shelter guests as to appropriate placements and further sheltering needs. WARMING CENTERS:
THE Morris Township MUNICIPAL BUILDING will be open from 8am-8pm each day through out the power restoration process for warmth, water, and charging stations. All FIVE (5) firehouses in Morris Township are open for warmth and charging stations from 8am to 5pm SEVEN (7) days a week. Water and Ice are available free of charge at the Morris County Public Safety Academy on 500 West Hanover Avenue and at the MORRIS Township Municipal Building.

An American Red Cross Mobile Feeding Unit is arriving in our community on Thursday, November 8th between 6pm and 8pm. A hot food truck will be stationed at the Morris Township Municipal Building, which is located at 50 Woodland Ave. Those who are unable to access hot food due to the crippling effects of recent weather events are welcome. Free individually wrapped meals will be handed out from the truck for you to take away. Food will be distributed on a first come first served basis. This offering is being provided by the American Red Cross and coordinated through the Morris County Office of Emergency Management.

Power Restorations:
An army of power trucks from Indiana and Ohio moved into the Township today. Work began right a way on the main feeder lines on Woodland Ave., South St.and many of our neighborhoods. Now that they are here, please be patient and courteous to them as they are here to help all of us. Capt.
