PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Charger is clamped to a stable surface or post. By cranking the handle, human energy is harvested from the user. This energy is converted into electricity and made available to power products. The electrical output is regulated to a factory pre-set voltage, generally 12V DC but this can be customer specified to almost any value. The charger is equipped with an LED charge level indicator that illuminates once the minimum crank speed is reached. The handle can be turned in both directions and the faster the handle is turned the higher the level of power generated. The power output cable can be fitted with a wide range of connectors, as specified by the customer.

FM and SW Telescopic antennas may be subject to breakage in tough user environments, therefore an unbreakable flexible steel wire antenna is offered as standard, or in addition to a telescopic antenna. In remote regions where radio signals may be weak an optional accessory 5m cable-antenna with crocodile attachment clips onto the fitted antenna to increase the sensitivity of the radio. AM signals are received via an internal ferrite rod antenna..

A polycrystalline 3.6V 20mA solar panel is integrated into the radio. This serves to play the radio or to charge its batteries without having to wind.
Power Management

A rechargeable NiMH 3 cell battery pack stores the energy generated from human and solar power. The radio will play for 20 to 30 minutes at good volume per 30-second wind.

These include phone make and model, network provider signal strength, handset battery condition, duration and effort of winding and the characteristics of the cigarette lighter adaptor used. It is recommended that a minimum of 3 minutes winding be applied before the phone is used. Generally, about three minutes of talk time per minute of winding is achievable.

Spur gears co-moulded with dissimilar materials give optimum gear meshing. The alternator has an 8W to 10W (electrical, continuous) rating, which is double the power generated by the average user. Over-vigorous winding will not damage the radio and in fact all the generated power will be conserved and stored.
