Observations on 165 KLD STP P&ID and Process Flow Diagram In STP no clarity about how treated flow

w from STP 160 m3/day became 64 m3/day as input to softener. In that case where balance lets say 90 m3/day goes. Further surprisingly after softener flow input to RO became 96 m3/day. This is totally not acceptable. Secondly there are two drawings viz., P&ID & Process Flow Diagram & both drawings have same content. In standard engineering practice Process Flow Diagram is block diagram i.e. there are rectangle indicating name of process units / tanks & are linked with incoming arrow & outgoing arrow. But they have copies content of P&ID into it. Further P&ID is also not as per standard engineering practice. For instance there are ways to indicate, moving equipment, tanks, pumps etc. It seems they have shown these units how it is shown in GA drawing. Also there are standard method to indicate pipe dia & its details that means pipe for which details are to be indicated should be mentioned rectangle with a sequence of pipe dia, material of construction, type of fluid (air, water, sewage, sludge, chemical etc), tag number. In P&ID instrumentation is also not shown as per standard practice & also symbol used in P&ID shall have separate table & not only with table with short form giving its meaning Also there are errors from process point of view, for instance there is no need to SMBS chemical dosing after PSF & before softener & also no need of ORP meter before softener. In MBR there is no return sludge transfer pump on the contrary there are internal recirculation pumps are provided. In P&ID at some place there is no continuity in indication of flow by arrow line i.e. from Equalization tank to MBR there is no continuous line however for further downstream units it is shown. Number of valves for softener are not correct & also filter press, screw pumps & chemical dosing system are also not shown as per standard engg practice In both STP P&ID for Pressure Sand Filter , backwash system (Air scour blower, backwash water tank, backwash pumps) is not shown which is very much mandatory Above observation are valid for balance drawings for WTP & 12 KLD STP Also for 12 KLD STP P&ID treatment process in SBR & there it is indicated as return sludge pump which is against the principle of SBR. Also Valves shown with its tag number but pipe tag numbers are missing. In WTP P&ID there is major process flaw is chlorine dosing done after sand, carbon filtration & softener. Generally it is to be done prior to sand filter so that during in sand filter, precipitated impurity could be trapped
