2012-2013 Multimedia Plan for the School Year

Briefings (SP Goal 6, EP Goal 5). Bimonthly briefing will be held at schools or at CMGC. These meetings will: o Be broadcast live on the Internet o Include questions from Twitter o Be available for viewing online later that day o Be open to the media Friday Focus (SP Goals 2,4; EP Goal 4). Archive and serve as back up for electronic newsletter sent to staff every Friday morning. Skype/Ustream (SP Goals 1, 3 and 4; EP Goals 3-5). Use technology to hold live chats with members of student leadership (ex. student government associations) from elementary, middle and high schools and school leadership (executive staff). It may need to be two or three done at varying times in one day to accommodate all bell schedules. It could also be done after school. o Budget talk from Sheila Shirley o Communication Chat from LaTarzja Henry o Technology Chat with Valerie Truesdale o Board of Education members? Weekly Video for Community (SP Goals 1, 5 & 6; EP Goals 4-5). After 100 day launch, begin weekly recap of news stories (Five minutes), CMS This Week. It would include a mix of pictures and information from stories posted and video stories that address Strategic Plan goals or Dr. Morrisons identified areas of focus. Understanding Common Core (SP Goals 1, 6; EP Goals 1, 3 &5). Monthly series discussing what it is, how its changing instruction and tips for parents. Pinterest for events/recognitions (SP Goals 1, 2, 4-6; EP Goals 4-5). (change, addition from previous social media use). o Back to school o State of Our Schools o 100 days o Dr. Morrisons first year o Volunteer Appreciation o Employee Appreciation o Community partners o Check Out Our Schools (A picture linking to a video story on a particular school). LinkedIn (SP Goals 1-2; EP Goal 1) o Post updates on job vacancies on LinkedIn o Post updates on major events on LinkedIn Flash map (SP Goals 1-6; EP Goals 1-5). Maps (or interactive graphics) could be created to detail things such as: o Dr. Morrisons school visits as they occur o Standardized test results o School locations o Budget information o Technology implementation

Transportation Employee Engagement findings by zone Social Media (SP Goals 1-4 & 6; EP Goals 1-5). Hold Professional Development in late September for all Communications staff that may post to social media to detail what is being done and how best to use which medium. Quantifiable goals: Double the number of Twitter followers (1,000 to 2,000) Increase Facebook fans from 6,000 to 8,000 Increase average views for FB posts from 1,600 to 3,000 Average 10 shares per posting Average 2,500 views of video posts Study analytics to amend messaging, as necessary Increase Pinterest followers to 500 Increase average viewership of community briefing s by 25 percent from start to finish Increase community tweets during media briefings by 25 percent from start to finish Produce at least one multimedia news story per week Develop goals for Yammer and internal social media based on results of employee engagement findings Categorize video content to catalog by Strategic Plan/Dr. Morrison Entry Plan goals/areas of focus for possible uses, including o Annual Report o SP interactive website
