Staffing Report
Progress Medias web site design division has been very successful. The recent surge in interest in the World Wide Web has increased demand for its services.
2cm 2cm

At the end of 1999 the division consisted of only four members, including administrative support. Since then it has doubled in size to include three more design staff and a dedicated programmer, although the workload remains heavier than expected. We expect steady growth over the next three years. The current staffing budget stands at 180,000 per annum, and is expected to rise by 3% over the next year. This figure is lower than predicted. Growth in income over the next twelve months is expected to be double the original target. With these figures in mind, we will be proposing the recruitment of a further three staff for the division over the next six months. Further details of the proposed changes in staffing can be obtained on request. Mato Pulji Centre No: 20847 Thursday, 05 December 2002

The Write Idea Hundreds of letters and articles are printed every day in papers and magazines. They provide interest and information for readers and money for the writers. A debatable topic can produce much discussion. Letters are seldom acknowledged. Unless you read the publications to which you contribute, you will never know whether a cheque is due to you. Allow time for publication, as daily papers can take 2 weeks and weeklies 4 weeks. Magazines may keep your letter or article for months and then suddenly decide to publish it. It is a good idea to keep a record of what you write and where it is sent. Letters today can be sent quickly by e-mail which is desirable if the subject involves a topical issue. A short letter can be worth 1 per word!
Make it larger size!

What can you write about? Our advice is to write about subjects that are familiar to you.
Even more important is to target the letter to the style and readership of the particular magazine or journal. Extract the letters pages from the tabloid papers and popular magazines and look at the subject matter. This may be anecdotal, informative, humorous or letters of praise. New Product Launch

Test marketing of our new product, the Vertex bar, in the South Wales area has proved successful. We therefore plan to launch the product nationally in March. The bar is expected to take 10% of the snack market within six months of its launch. The Vertex bar consists of biscuits, toffee and raisins with a covering of milk chocolate. It was designed after extensive market research. A plain chocolate version is planned for release at a later date. The product will be packaged as single bars and also in packs of six. The packs are expected to sell well in supermarkets. The national campaign will be launched with advertising on television and in the national press. The advertisements will feature young people taking part in active sports and will stress how the bar will replace energy. Experience in South Wales shows it to be popular with young people. To encourage sales there will be a competition involving each sales area. Staff in the area with the highest sales in the three month period after launch will receive a bonus.
