As I have oen menoned, the proclamaon of the

GoodNewsisourprimarymission,bothasindividuals
and as a Church. The Second Vacan Council was
intendedtomakethattaskeasier,andyyearsaer
the bishops of the Church were summoned to Rome
for this watershed moment, the Church connues to
discern how the teachings of the Council are brought
tofruioninaidofourfundamentalmission.

Over the coming few years, as we mark the

anniversary of the various major documents of the
Council, we will have the opportunity to revisit those
magisterial documents, connuing the wonderful
journey of aggiornamento that began half a century
ago,andwhichwillconnueformanyyearstocome.

Lastly, congratulaons to those children from our

community who celebrate their First Communion this

Anniversary of the rst session of the Second Vacan
Ecumenical Council that had been convoked by
BlessedPopeJohnXXIII.
