COURSE DESCRIPTION COURSE OBJECTIVE The objective of this course is to provide a detailed understanding of information systems, seen within organizational and societal notions both from technical and organizational perspectives to be basis for new technologies and information systems applications.

LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of this course the learner is expected to, 1. Understanding the effects of information systems on business and describe the management, organization, and technology components of an information system. 2.Identify and describe important features of organizations that managers need to know about in order to build and use information systems successfully. 3.Define IT infrastructure and describe its components. 4.Evaluate the challenges of managing IT infrastructure and management solutions. 5.Evaluate tools and technologies for accessing information from databases to improve business performance and decision making 6.Identify the principal components of telecommunications networks, key networking technologies and securing information resources. 7.Identify the challenges posed by enterprise applications. 8.Evaluate the role of m-commerce in business, and describe the most important m-commerce applications. 9.Compare digital age applications. LEARNING AND TEACHING STRATEGIES 1. Lecture Lectures are supported by related concepts and class discussions. 2. Project Projects covering all topics are prepared during the semester. Presentation 3. Presentation Projects are presented and discussed at the end of the semester.

ASSESSMENT METHODS 1. Project Projects covering all topics are prepared during the semester and presented at the end of the semester by students 2. Midterm Midterm exam evaluates the students success to find solutions for the problems. %30 3.Final Final exam evaluates the students success to find solutions for the problems. %30 GRADING % %40

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 1. Project reports should be complete and submitted on time. 2. Members of the groups should demonstrate their individual knowledge and ability during presentations and discussions. 3. Reports should be prepared according to specific format, i.e. APA.
