1. TYPES OF ECOSYSTEMS.
An ecosystem consists of a set of living things and the physical environment in which they live.
There are many types. They are classified as land and water. There sizes are varied. Terrestrial ecosystems: forests, grasslands, deserts. Aquatic ecosystems: freshwater ecosystems and saltwater ecosystems. Ecosystems can be very varied. They are classified as land and water.

FEEDING
Living things depend on each other for food. Those who make their own food are called producers (like plants). Animals that eat other living things are called consumers.
FOOD CHAINS
Living things in an ecosystem feed off each other. To represent how are fed using a scheme called food chain.
COMPETITION occurs when two living beings have the same need. Eg cheetahs and lions in the savannah animals feed on herbivores. COOPERATION occurs when living things work together and benefit each other. For example, some animals like zebras or fish, move in groups for protection.

3. ECOSYSTEM PROBLEMS
Several problems can occur in ecosystems: DEFORESTATION is the loss of forests. When deforestation occurs, also disappear animals living in the forest. In addition, the land runs out vegetation and rain and wind drag the ground. Soil loss is called EROSION. POLLUTION is caused by human activities that generate waste, fumes and substances harmful to health and ecosystems. OVEREXPLOITATION occurs when an ecosystem more people collect more plants or animals which may occur naturally. Overexploitation threatening the survival of many living things.
4. ECOSYSTEM PROTECTION
Some ecosystems are very valuable environments should care. One way is to declare protected areas. A national park is a specially valued for its relatively undisturbed nature and traditional activities that take place in it and that respect the environment.
In Spain there are 14 National Parks in protecting the natural richness of our land. Some of them are: Donaa (Huelva, Andalucia), Sierra Nevada (Granada, Andalucia), Teide (Islas Canarias)...

ACTIVITIES
1) Read and write the correct word. producers - consumers - food chain - competition - cooperation Those living things whose make owns foods are called ____________________ (like plants). Animals that eat other living things are called _______________ To represent how are fed using a scheme called____________________ ________________ occurs when two living beings have the same need. _______________occurs when living things work together and benefit each other.

3) Listen and write the landscapes that you hear your teacher say.

4) Read and match. OVEREXPLOITATION DEFORESTATION - It is the loss of forests - It is caused by human activities that generate waste, fumes and substances harmful to health and ecosystems - It occurs when an ecosystem more people collect more plants or animals which may occur naturally
POLLUTION
5) Copy and complete the table. Zebras live in herds Cows eat grass Relationships within the same species Insects transport pollen. Wolves hunt in packs. Relationships between species
6) Classify the ecosystems. desert - pond - lake - ocean - forest - sea - jungle - river Terrestrial ecosystems Aquatic ecosystems
7) Guessing game! Think of an ecosystem. Dont tell anyone. Take turns asking and answering question with a partner.
