CONCEPT

YOU AINT SEEN NOTHING YET. Our concept is based on showcasing the talent, skills and the passion of our year. This bold statement aims to creates an air of anticipation around both the yearbook and the end of year show. The design approach will incorporate both print and digital outcomes to make them more relevant to todays technological environment. To set us apart from the previous yearbooks we opted for a set of 300 limited edition promotional packs. This bespoke concept will be achieved by reducing the publication size and focusing on the quality of the print finishes. The binding is inspired by a recent GFSmith promotional campaign. The slip case will contain an A1 fold out poster a publication containing course information and acknowledgements and a CD. Each students work and contact details is showcased on the fold out poster with more work being displayed on the PDF provided with the publication. We also propose a graduate website containing examples of each students work and link to their online presence. The poster could be printed in higher volumes to be used for wider distribution at end of year shows and D&AD.

STOCK CONSIDERATIONS Working with GFSmith Stock and using 350gsm Colorplan in Turquoise for the outer sleeve, which will be duplex with 120gsm Accent Smooth in Glacier White.

SLEEVE AND PUBLICATION The outer sleeve / slip case will be die cut with the statement YOU AINT SEEN NOTHING in the colorplan Turquoise stock, with the publication in the same colour with the statement YOU AINT SEEN NOTHING... yet foiled in white, so as you remove the outer sleeve it reveals the full statement. The publication will hold the CD in the centre which has the PDF of each student profile.

TYPE & LAYOUT Using the Gotham font family across all the typography, available in a range of weights it ensures there is continuity across the design. The publication will have minimal layouts, with photographs taking a full page, showing the studio and possibly examples of work. The PDF layout will be more informative as it would give each individual a double page spread, showcasing examples of their work, contact information and a personal statement, with links to their online presence.

The designers in this book have risen to the challenge of a course that has rapidly developed a reputation for creative, high quality graduates who can deliver to a professional standard. Three years of hard work, innovation, creativity, blood, sweat and tears, and here they are, more than ready to take the next step into an industry that thrives on new creative talent. The reputation of the course belongs to them. They have helped build it. They have put the hours in. They have pushed themselves beyond what they thought was possible and I am proud to have been part of that journey. Id like to thank them for their commitment and thank all those members of the course team, support staff and visiting professionals who have contributed to the success of this year. I wish them all the best and hope the creative industries recognise the considerable talent that is coming its way.

YOU AINT SEEN NOTHING YET

BA (HONS) Graphic Design Leeds College of Art

PHOTOGRAPHY We wanted the photographs of everyone to be quite quirky and a little bit different ensuring that everyone could get their personality across. We came up with the idea to use the statement; THIS IS BA(HONS) GRAPHIC DESIGN 2010-2013 with the letters individually cut out and everyone could hold a letter each in anyway they wanted just as long as the statement is readable once everyone is stood next too each other. As we cant photography everyone at the same time they would be photographed in groups of each word. Yearbook Pitch Sarah Pritchard, Lisa Whitaker, Bethany Yates, Baljeet Samra

POSTERS The posters will be A1 format printed onto a 120gsm stock so that it can easily be folded into the 210mm x 210mm format and inserted into the sleeve with the publication. The example above shows the format but the work would be photographed on a white background so there is a more concise design. The work will also be shown on the back of the posters but will have a lighter opacity with everyones name, email, phone number and website over their work so each individuals work can be easily identified.

PDF & WEBSITE The PDF and website will differ slightly with the layout and content. The PDF will give everyone a double page spread to showcase their work, contact details and a statement about themselves. It will also have information about the course and the staff. The website again give everyone a chance to showcase their work but can be accessed by anyone. The website link will be printed onto the posters as well so if the posters were to be used without the sleeve and publication the link to the website is still accessible.
