Dear friends, We are pleased to announce that we are shifting from local campus e-mail solution to a centralized e-mail solution supported by Google. This solution is an integrated solution covering e-mail with 25 GB space, file storage with 5 GB space, collaboration tool, file sharing, personal web-pages, calendaring system, etc. The pilot run is planned for Goa campus for a weeks time beginning 10-Oct-2012. Other campuses will go live by 1st week of November-2012. Kindly go through the details to understand the system.

How to access the Link?

1] There is a link BITS Mail on University and campus websites, located at right top corner, which will take you to a landing page showing 4 campuses. Click on your campus link to go to the login page. 2] Similar link will be provided on an Intranet server 3] Direct links for individual campuses will be conveyed when they are made active. Same as the current user-ID. [Name as shown on the mail address can be changed using the Settings Link.] e.g.: Goa Campus Students f2012345@goa.bits-pilani.ac.in for First Degree students h2011107@goa.bits-pilani.ac.in for Higher Degree students p2010345@goa.bits-pilani.ac.in for PhD students The name of students will be mapped with his e-mail ID so that recipient sees the name. Your Date of Birth: e.g. if your DOB is 15-11-1972, password is 15111972 if your DOB is 07-01-1969, password is 711969 if your DOB is 11-10-1975, password is 11101975 Change it immediately. You are provided with a 25 GB mailbox. 25 MB (If more required, we can upload on online file storage and share it securely) User groups and rights to the users are summarized in Annexure-I.

Routing from old official ID to new one Data Transfer from old ID to New ID

Add auto-forward in your e-mail account. Old e-mail servers will remain active for a period of 3 months from the Go-Live date. User login and password is required to transfer data from old ID to new ID. Steps will be conveyed shortly. However, IPC/CC staff will help to an individual user to ensure the transfer. The local ftp servers will remain active for a period of 3 months from the GoLive date. Create/ Upload Word files, Spreadsheets and Presentations and work together on them online securely without worrying about keeping any copy on your own machine.
You will be able to manage your own schedule along with the Institute schedule.
