AT&T EXPANDS MOBILE INTERNET WIRELESS CAPACITY IN MIDDLESEX COUNTY

Additional Spectrum Expected to Improve Connectivity and Performance of Mobile Internet Data and Voice Connectivity EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J., MAY 9, 2012 Customers in Middlesex County are expected to experience improved mobile Internet coverage and voice performance as a result of continued investment and innovation by AT&T. The company announced today that it has completed a key initiative in its ongoing efforts to enhance the wireless capacity and performance of its mobile Internet network in areas of Cranbury, East Brunswick, Jamesburg, Monmouth Junction, and Twin Rivers and along the New Jersey Turnpike and Routes 1 and 130. NJ Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo (D-14), who serves as vice-chair of the New Jersey Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee said, With every wireless network enhancement there is noticeable improvement in communication service for southern Middlesex County residents. By making these enhancements to the system, AT&T shows that it understands the uniqueness of our region and the needs of the community that are met through local investments. The network enhancement adds new layers of frequency, also known as carriers, to 23 cell sites in areas of Middlesex County to more efficiently manage available spectrum and increase mobile broadband capacity. The expansion helps manage ever-growing demand for mobile Internet services by allocating more network resources for AT&Ts mobile Internet network. "The demand for smartphones, tablets and laptops continues to rise combined with rising demand for better and faster mobile broadband connectivity in the state," said J. Michael Schweder, president, AT&T New Jersey. "As more and more people use these technological devices it is incumbent that we have enough spectrum to meet the needs of our New Jersey customers. Greater demand is being placed on a finite amount of spectrum, the lanes of the wireless highway. AT&T's continued investment in the state will also help drive the local economy and job creation." Tom DeVito, vice president and general manger for AT&T in New Jersey and New York added, Our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience. As part of the community in

Middlesex County, were always looking for new opportunities to provide an enhanced customer experience and our investment in the local wireless network is just one way were accomplishing that. AT&Ts mobile Internet network is based on the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) family of technologies that includes GSM and UMTS, the most widely used wireless network platforms in the world. AT&T has the best international coverage of any U.S. wireless provider, providing access to voice service in more than 225 countries and data service in more than 200 countries. AT&T also operates the nations largest Wi-Fi network** with nearly 30,000 hotspots in the U.S. and provides access to nearly 225,000 hotspots globally through roaming agreements.
