BRIEF 1 DOWUE EGBERTS COFFEE - COLLABORATION

Brief Working in collaboration with Sarah Pritchard to try and promote Dowue Egberts coffee to a predominately younger audience, and encouraging them to drink coffee at home. The brief will have a focus on branding and packaging in the form of a promotional campaign. Background / Considerations Dowue Egberts coffee is more likely to appeal to a older audience and the YCN brief has set the challenge to make the coffee more appealing to younger people (25-30 year olds) by encouraging them to drink coffee at home rather than buying it from a coffee shop. Myself and Sarah both have an interest in typography and layout which will be the key design focus within the brief but also looking at coming up with a conceptual solution to the set brief.

Mandatory Requirements Focus on print based design and considering the use of social media and networks.

Deliverables Promotional campaign / packaging / app design

BRIEF 2 TIGERPRINT COLOUR - EXTENDED

Brief Using the Tigerprint Colour competition brief as a starting point to develop the Black and White brief from the last module. The brief will be based on again designing a range of homeware either for a particular or brand or creating a new brand. The tigerprint competition will allow me to have a starting point based on a series of patterns which will then be developed.

Background / Considerations Need to consider the current colour trends, look into trend forecasting across, fashion, retail homeware and design to have a specific theme to pace the designs on. Although the pattern will have a great Impact on the outcomes the main focus will be on the branding, promotion and retail element.

Mandatory Requirements Research trend forecasting, mood boards, colour theory, surface pattern design

Deliverables Series of patterns / branding / retail design / packaging

BRIEF 3 BRANDING

Brief Working on a series of 3 (potentially more) branding briefs. With a focus on brand development and working with printed stationary and online presence. Elizabeth Smith LCA Surface Patterns & Printed Textiles Student Natisha Greenaway LCA Photography Student Vintage Luxe Vintage Jewellery brand started by ex LCA student Lauren Rose Cooley Background / Considerations In terms of the branding for Elizabeth and Natisha the main focus will be about their current practice and looking at creating a brand and a series of relevant print collateral for the end of year show and when they graduate. Both are looking at business cards and some form of a printed and online portfolio. Whereas with Lauren from Vintage Luxe she has a clear of idea of what she has in mind and due to this I have already managed to get her logo done, the next stage will be looking at jewellery labels / packaging / letterheads / compliments slips and so on. Each brief is fairly quick but collectively produces a significant body of work. Mandatory Requirements Focus on both print and digital design with a major focus on branding. Deliverables Branding / business cards / portfolio / online presence

BRIEF 4 THE STORY OF 1984

Brief Research investigation into the story behind 1984 with a focus on editorial design and publishing. Using my dissertation research and personal interest in the events of Operation Bluestar in India in 1984 and sharing the facts about what happened in a printed publication. With a focus on the type and layout design. The overall outcome of the brief would be to raise awareness about the attack and ensure that it isnt forgotten. Background / Considerations The content in the publication needs to be unbiased and focus mainly on the overview of operation bluestar, and will come mainly from my dissertation. Due to the nature of the content the design needs to reflect that, as it will ultimately be something that is raising awareness about the events of 1984.

Mandatory Requirements Research driven, needs to be unbiased and focus on the facts. Focus of the design typography and layout.

Deliverables Printed publication / prints / Awareness campaign

BRIEF 5 MAKEUP BRANDING &PACKAGING (Retail Design)

Brief Print based investigation into cosmetics and makeup with a focus on packaging, retail and promotion. Branding and packaging for a mid to high end cosmetics brand based on a recent or upcoming collection of products. Although the branding and packaging will be a major focus of the brief Im keen to explore the retail side of it and focus on the retail environment.

Background / Considerations The brand or rebrand needs to be for either a recent or upcoming collection of makeup, which wont involve hundreds of products but a selected range. The idea behind focusing on a mid to high end brand is that although their branding is usually quite set the branding for particular collections is always different and a chance to be a bit different. Potential brands could be Benefit, Mac, Illamasqua or Nars.

Mandatory Requirements Research into the retail environment in the context of beauty, makeup/cosmetics and fashion.

Deliverables Potential rebrand or brand of a makeup collection / packaging / promotion / retail design
