VF-1MS METAL SIREN VALKYRIE FIGHTER

(Version 1.0 - Last modified: 09/14/99 12:36) RPG Stats by Cozmo Zero (Yoroiden@aol.com) Layout Style Adapted from DAVE DEITRICH (deitrich@mcs.net) BACKGROUND The VF-1MS Metal Siren is the latest Valkyrie incarnation in more than 20 years. The Metal Siren was to be the next standard Valkyrie of the UN Spacy, and as many as possible were going into production. Unfortunately, only 2 prototypes were built before the final Marduk assault on Earth. The first was a single mode fighter, which was shown to the public during the 2090 UN Spacy Moon Festival, was piloted by Lieutenant Silvie Gena, with pop star singer Wendy Rider as the first non-military person to ride in one. That prototype was severely damaged by the Marduk during the festival. But when the technicians looked over the prototype, the results were better than they could have hoped. The fighter took more damage than expected, and the fighters maneuverability was very impressive. The next prototype was a fully functioning, heavily armed, and transformable fighter that was pressed into service by the UN Spacy as the older, standard VF-2SS fighters were being lost in severe numbers. This prototype was flown by Major Nexx, who used it so well in defending the UN Spacy fleet that hardly any Marduk or Zentran fighter could get to the ships in the Metal Sirens vicinity. The Metal Siren even managed to destroy a Marduk flagship, by itself. Had the Metal Siren been produced in large enough numbers, even just one squadron, the outcome of the war might have resulted in an Earth victory sooner. That only surviving Metal Siren is still only piloted by Major Nexx himself, as no other pilot has any experience flying it, except for Silvie Gena who used the unarmed model. As soon as facilities on the Earth or moon are repaired, the Metal Siren will undoubtably be pushed into mass production and replace the remaining VF-2SS as the standard fighter of the UN Spacy. Good for destroying missiles. Fighters and missiles within field are -5 to strike. Also can be used to destroy ships. 7. Hand to Hand Combat is possible if a pilot does not wish to use a weapon. The Metal Siren is extremely agile and can execute most typical hand to hand combat moves. DAMAGE: Restrained Punch: 1D6 M.D. Full Strength Punch: 3D6 M.D. Booster Punch: 5D6 M.D. Tear or Pry with Hands: 2D6 M.D. Kick: 2D4 M.D. Leap Kick: 3D6 M.D. Body Flip/Throw: 1D6 M.D. Body Block/Tackle: 2D6 M.D. Stomp: 2D6 M.D. (only effective against small objects) STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR THE VF-1MS: AUTO-PILOT: The VF-1MS is equipped with a computerized auto-pilot intended to allow the pilot to relax or even sleep during long voyages. The auto-pilot can be programmed with a single destination or a complex flight plan involving multiple speeds, directions, and destinations. The on-board computer will alert the pilot when the fighter is near its destination, and can also be set to automatically signal when sensors detect objects near the mecha. The auto-pilot was designed with long intra-system space journeys in mind. CARGO AREA: A small cargo area is located behind the seat of all Valkyrie fighters. This area is large enough to comfortably hold one human size passenger. As many as two people can fit in the cargo bay, but they will be cramped and uncomfortable. Note that there are no seats in the cargo cavity behind the pilots seat and passengers must sit on the floor of the craft. This means that they may be buffeted about and sustain minot injury (mainly bumps and bruises). COMBAT COMPUTER: The VF-1MS is equipped with an advanced AI combat computer that can store and analyze data during combat with hostile forces. Data collected by the combat computer can be displayed on the cockpit of the mecha, which allows the system to display large amounts of data to the pilot and even highlight enemies and missile attacks with overlaid graphics. The combat computer tracks and identifies specific enemy targets, and has a database of over 15,000 images stored in memory. The computer can identify and track up to 400 targets simultaneously. ESCAPE POD: The entire reinforced cockpit of the VF-1MS is a detachable escape pod that can be jettisoned when the mecha is destroyed. The ejected cockpit does not contain thrusters, but does contain a powerful locator beacon and an integrated life support system that can support the pilot for up to 24 hours after ejection. The pod is also equipped with parachutes in case of ejection in an atmosphere. The combat computer is programmed to automatically eject the escape pod if the mecha is destroyed (main body MDC reduced to 0), but this can be overridden if the pilot is feeling suicidal for some reason. EXTERNAL AUDIO PICKUP: Range: 300 ft (91.5 m). A sound amplification system that can pick up normal conversation up to 300 feet away. HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM: The temperature and humidity of the pilots compartment are automatically regulated by the heating and cooling systems. A small refrigeration unit for preserving food, water, and specimens is connected to this system. HEAT AND RADIATION SHIELDS: Special shielding prevents the penetration of life threatening head

and radiation. A radiation detection and alarm system are linked with the shields and will sound an alarm if there is a rupture in the shields and what the levels of radiation are. HOMING SIGNAL: The escape pod of the VF-1MS is equipped with a homing device that enables rescue teams to locate a disabled craft or ejected life pod. The range of the signal is 400 miles (640 km). Most UN Spacy ships and valkyrie fighters can locate and track homing signals, and the on-board computers will automatically notify their pilots if such a signal is detected. INDEPENDENT OXYGEN SUPPLY AND CIRCULATORY SYSTEM: This system automatically engages in environments where oxygen and circulation are required, such as the vacuum of space or when toxic gases are sensed. It can recirculate breathable air for up to eight weeks before getting stale. LASER TARGETING SYSTEM: Range: 100 miles (160 km). Used for increased accuracy in the striking of enemy targets and is partly responsible for the mecha's strike bonus. LOUDSPEAKER: A loudspeaker system is built into the craft, which can be used to amplify the pilot's voice up to 90 decibels. OPTICS: INFRARED AND ULTRAVIOLET: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). This optical system projects a beam of infrared light that is invisible to the normal eye, but detectable by the mecha's sensors. The system allows the pilot to detect hidden/concealed objects by their IR reflectiveness. The beam will be visible to anyone with IR sensitive optics, however. The ultraviolet system enables the pilot to see the ultraviolet spectrum of light and is mostly used to detect the light beams of ultraviolet detection systems. OPTICS: NIGHT VISION: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). A passive light image intensifier that emits no light of its own, but relies on ambient light which is electronically amplified to produce a visible picture. OPTICS: THERMAL IMAGER: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). A passive optical heat sensor that detects infrared radiation projected by warm objects and converts that data into a false-color visible image. The system enables the pilot to see in the dark, in shadows, and through smoke, and also adds a +10% bonus to pilots using a tracking skill. RADAR: 200 mile (321 km) range. RADIO/VIDEO COMMUNICATION: Long range, directional communications system with satellite relay capabilities. Range: 600 miles (960 km) or can be boosted indefinitely via satellite relay. SELF-DESTRUCT: To prevent capture of a variable fighter by the enemy, the pilot can activate the VF-1MS's self-destruct system, which will cause the fighter to explode after a delay of up to 60 minutes (time is set by the pilot). The explosive damage is contained within a 20 foot (6 m) area and inflicts 1D6x10 M.D. to everything within the radius of the explosion. All internal systems are obliterated. The escape pod will be automatically ejected prior to the explosion unless the pilot overrides the ejection sequence. SPACE DOCKING CONNECTOR: All military Valkyries designed for use in space are equipped with an extendable docking unit. This unit enables the fighter to pull up alongside most conventional spacecraft, including all of the Earth, Zentran, and Marduk designs, automatically match the speed of the vessel and attach itself to most access hatches. A semi-transparent, accordian-like appendage is released from behind the pilots compartment, enabling the pilot to scramble from his opening into the larger vessel without stepping out into space or opening his hatch. This can be critical when the pilot;s spacesuit is torn or during an emergency when rescuing and transporting passengers without spacesuits. STANDARD SURVIVAL KIT: All UN Spacy VFs come equipped with a portable survival kit. Inside the small reinforced box is a medium-sized flashlight, two hand flares, one rocket flare, a compass, infrared distancing binoculars, a small mirror, a pocket knife, dehydrated and concentrated food (can be stretched into a five day supply for one person) and basic first aid items (aspirin, bandages, disinfectants, etc.) TACTICAL LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM: The VF-1MS's cockpit is pressurized, and also provides additional air feeds to the pilot's flight suit that provides him with pressurized breathing. The UN Spacy flight suit also contains an upper and lower g-suit that promotes blood circulation even during high-g turns, thus decreasing the possibility of pilot's blacking out in combat. ADVANCED VF-1MS METAL SIREN COMBAT TRAINING Advanced training for pilots specializing in the VF-1MS. 4 attacks per melee (plus those of the pilot). Add one additional action/attack at levels two, five, seven, ten, and thirteen. +3 on initiative. +3 to strike. +4 to parry.

+4 to dodge in soldier mode, +6 in gerwalk, and +8 to jet mode. +3 to roll with a punch or fall with impact, reducing damage by half. +3 to leap dodge. A leap dodge is an automatic dodge which causes no loss of attacks per melee. The new Metal Siren is so maneuverable that the pilot can dodge an attack while moving to counterattack an enemy. Critical strike same as the pilots hand-to-hand. Body block/tackle/ram - 2D4 M.D. plus a 50% chance of knocking an opponent down, causing him/her to lose initiative and one attack that melee round.
