Religion

The constant bickering among theists and atheists, with the recent entrant in the league of Religion commentators, the agnostics is not always a candy for an unbiased spectator. This issue is often conspicuously disparate from the others which often witness apathetic viewers, thereby forming a huge chunk of unbiased arbiters, who often debate and show the path for the ones nave in the issue to discern the crux of the relevant acrimony. The religion issue is usually bereft of this indifferent lot with a prerogative of forming a sound judgement on this topic, the reason credited primarily to the fact that any individual would find oneself on either of the two sided coin, or more recently at the tip of the newly formed trident viewed society (a plethora of individuals in the Agnostic creed). If one transgresses the contours of life, and tries an objective approach to arbitrate the credentials of these warring sides, a pedestal the theists regard as existing in the hands of the god, the concept pestered by the other sides, is undoubtedly amusing. For a moment, being crowned as the god, given a unanimous belief with the theists and atheists alike, that man is himself a part or the god himself, the pros and cons of the warring notions metamorphose into stiff thoughts and practical notions. The most rudimentary questions an anti-theism proponent would raise are the prevalence of evil practices in society and in religion based businesses, which paradoxically obviate the concept of god itself. The question of huge squandering and splurge on established beliefs that actually stand unproved is reiterated in relevance to topics raised, closer at home for Indians. Finally, if at all the existence of god is proved, does that mean anything to us given the constant apathy of that force to the dying poor, the prospering wealthy and corrupt mortals, and the sheer doom spelt by nature itself on humans, which is said to be a prerogative of none other than the god himself. These natural queries proliferate in minds of all, including the god believers, and are answered in myriad forms by god men and sceptics to the gullible listeners who guzzle down every word coming in response. Some self styled pundits, arguably the well versed saints in ancient scriptures may respond cogently to the despicable shortcomings of religion, and that those sceptic of the existence of god shall never attain freedom from whims and wishes, in the labyrinth of the worldly desires in disguise for the mortal who cannot discern between the truth and the farce.

The irony seen in the disparate homilies and sybarite lives coexisting in our beloved god men makes us adamant on finding an instance where scriptures blurt a single word corroborating the acts of these holy men. Does any incarnation of any god in any religion justify the squandering of foods and perishables while the hungry souls stand abated at doors to gods homes? The theatrical portrayal of the almighty may astonish god himself if he were to stroll past his home on this day. The shortcomings resting with god-proponents do not render atheists immaculate. While high decibel chants banter the believers and aggrandise the evil prevalent in holy customs and the associated wastage, the other side is often one with no experience of sharing. A disbeliever at heart may have never shared a crumb of his bread with the lepers he detests while walking out of his lavish vehicle, but will never miss a point intended to highlight the wastage of food on customs instead of feeding the poor. How many of the readers or people who they may know those who pester theists for their customs actually contribute the paltry little to help the poor? Not none, Im sure, but not many either! An often ignored point is the importance given to daan-dakshina, a pivot of any religion is often accompanied with prayers and fasts. So, one who often ridicules the idea of fasts, never cares to look beyond- the teachings of sharing and giving. And if an individual resorts to blindly following only the customs of prayers and fasts, without any social deed, why is the religion pestered for the same. After all, you do not see people going gaga after a brand name over a controversial persons attachment to particular restaurant or drink. What we often get to hear about theists is their loud mouthed belabor and how they go about stressing the issue of religions importance and sciences uselessness. But I see science which blatantly refutes the existence of a super-power as an integral part of our education system and ancient scriptures, if present treated as fiction text. Finally, I fail to see why the god believers and disbelievers should be wasting time finding faults with the beliefs and practices others indulge in, and stop being the archetype humans. So, whether a man drinks wine on Tuesday night or another abstains from eating an egg, let the bloke live his life the way he intends to, and excuse the other from sermons that he would not gallop without another altercation on this contentious topic.
