As part of the ongoing redevelopment of the Al Ain Wildlife Park &
Resort (AWPR), APA was contracted to design exhibitry for the Sheikh
Zayed Desert Learning Centre (SZDLC). The SZDLC is a regionally
unprecedented interpretive center that explores the natural diversity
of Abu Dhabis desert environment and its peoples relationship with
the desert, from prehistory to the present. The largest attraction of
its type in the Gulf region, the SZDLC architecture and experience is of
international scale, featuring five galleries of exhibits situated within
monumental interior spaces.
APA facilitated a visioning session with AWPR staff and experts to
develop a vison, mission, goals and objectives for the institution,
before collaborating with an international team to develop an exhibit
concept tightly integrated with the buildings complex architecture.
Our firm delivered detailed design documentation, managed
production of audiovisual exhibit components, and provided creative
direction during fabrication and installation of exhibits, all of which
were produced by world-leaders in their field.
