FINAL MAJOR PROJECT STATEMENT OF INTENT

Baljeet Kaur Samra b-samra1013fmp.blogspot.co.uk Rationale A focus on branding and identity within the retail and interior environment directed towards print and typographically driven design. Subjects / Themes Beauty & Health / Fashion / Photography / Interior design / Consumerism / Social media. Design Disciplines / Creative Development
Typography / Packaging design / Retail design / Publication design / Surface pattern design Although my briefs are quite varied I will be looking at making them tie together in some way so there is a consistent theme across them. The colour trends that I pick up in the tigerprint brief will influence this seasons colours so will be relevant to the cosmetics packaging. The skills that I develop with the editorial design for the 1984 publication will be important for the Interior Design yearbook. Typography will be relevant for all of the briefs and again packaging is a core focus for 2 of the briefs.

Practical Skills / Workshops what, why and when?

Print / Surface pattern design Want to further develop my knowledge about print, because well print is amazing. I know my work has taken a bit of a surface pattern direction and instead of focusing too much just on making pretty patterns I want to work with this in the broader context of branding and retail design. I think that for the tigerprint brief I will potentially be looking at wallpaper and soft furnishings so it might be a good time to look at screen printing as it will be relevant. One of the skills that I might need to look into is laser cutting for the branding for Natisha as she is quite keen on having lasercut business cards.
