JOB TITLE: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: STATUS: Marketing /Public Relations Intern Marketing and Communications Communications Manager up to 20 hours per week/unpaid

Overview The Museum of Glass provides a dynamic learning environment to appreciate the medium of glass through creative experiences, collections and exhibitions. The Marketing and Communications Department prepares and distributes communication materials to promote programs in support of all Museum departments. Duties and Responsibilities The Marketing/PR Intern will be responsible for carrying out a variety of ongoing tasks and assist with special projects as needed. Additionally, the assistant will be assigned a project in line with his/her educational goals. Manage annual visitor survey to include preparing survey forms and/or establishing electronic interfaces; gather visitor input with assistance of Visitor Services staff (500 surveys); compile data; prepare final report of results and present to Marketing and Communications department and other staff, as needed. Draft press releases and respond to media inquiries for information and images. Organize press clippings and disseminate relevant articles to Museum staff. Update web and community calendars and assist with social media and blog posts. Assist with production of miscellaneous marketing materials. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Marketing and Communications department and the Museum of Glass

Minimum qualifications Excellent verbal and written communications skills Familiar with a wide array of software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet Explorer. Familiarity with graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, and HTML language also desirable. Self-starter with the ability to work independently Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to work in a faced paced environment with changing priorities

Educational Benefits The PR/Marketing Intern will receive an overview of the way a professional Marketing and Communications Department works in a medium-sized, non-profit arts organization. The departments areas of responsibility cover marketing, advertising, public relations, community outreach, communications (including the website, blog, social media and electronic newsletters), and special promotions and events. The intern will be involved in department meetings where overview of tasks, timeline and strategy, will be discussed.
