This month WPW presents Southern Hemisphere Wrestling Alliances resident ring announcer, Flashy Barry Hawkins as the guest editor.

Photo: SHWA HELLOOOOOOOOO WPW, sorry folks, had to throw that in. It is a real pleasure for me to write the editorial for this months issue of WPW. I had spent a while thinking about what I would talk about, and then it hit me (Just like Jarrad Slates Head-butt). I would like to talk to you all about your local wrestlers and visiting talent.

Without aiming any offence at anyone whether wrestling federations or fans, there seems to be an admittedly-understandable trend of one-upmanship when it comes to Who can we bring in. Please dont misunderstand me though, as a ring announcer it is always exciting to work up a crowd and announce the presence of somebody visiting from interstate or even overseas. But sometimes I have seen where the presence of visiting talent almost becomes the be-all and end-all of an event. Some fans have even been heard to say I only came to see such-and-such...! Whilst the added lure of a visiting wrestler is a sure-fire way to boost a crowd, we must remember to not let this overshadow our hard-working, highly talented local professionals. The exact same people who time-after time, put in the hard work and effort to present local wrestling fans top-notch entertainment every time. The visitor comes and makes an impact for a show, but the local talent remains show after show. So lets hear it for our own local wrestlers, managers (dare I say it - Announcers) and support crews, who consistently work hard to give their local fans what they want show after show. Every single one of us is encouraged to buy local product, whether its food, clothing or whatever. How does IGA say it? When you buy local your money stays here? And considering that Western Australia can

Westside Pro Wrestling

Page 1

indeed boast of sending LOCAL wrestlers from LOCAL federations to perform both interstate and overseas, then you better believe that the LOCAL

product is worth supporting... So from Flashy Barry Hawkins, kiss your mother goodnight (and then give her one from me)

THE SENSATION RETURNS TO AAW Following his return to Australia after Visa issues in the US see Craven Returns Home on Page 3, Platinum Australian Champion, Craven made a victorious comeback to AAW at Code Red 2010 over former AAW Champion Superstar David Nero in the main event. The Australian Sensation proceeded to celebrate his victory with the crowd after the match. Craven will be making an Open Challenge for the title at Invasion on June 26. MONEY TOO MUCH FOR ROCKSTAR B-Money remains the AAW Champion following his victory over Joey Angel at Code Red 2010. Money won the championship bout after hitting a cutter on the Real Rockstar when Angel had missed hitting him with a belt shot. Moneys next opponent is Killah, who he defeated in a title match at Aftermath, this time taking on the OG of Australian Wrestling in a Non-Title match at Invasion. SWELL UPRISING

Swell will be appearing at Invasion to explain his actions, while current WA State Champion, Blue Blood will be defending the title against Superstar David Nero . MIGHTY END TO WINNING STREAK

Photo: All Action Wrestling It was third time unlucky for AAW Womens Champion, Imogen Jane as she suffered her first loss in eight months at Code Red 2010, when Sydneys Mighty Mel, the third straight Interstate challenger, pinned the champion in a non-title match. The champion had taken care of other Interstate contenders in Shazza McKenzie at Anniversary IV and Selene at Aftermath. Imogen was last on the losing side of the ledger in November when the then Womens Champion, Michelle defeated her in a title match at Spring Fest Slam. AAW TO INVADE MIDDLE SWAN AAW are making the move to a more central location from June when they are starting to host a monthly show in Middle Swan at the Swan Italian Club. AAW are the first WA promotion to bring in the idea of putting on two shows a month, as they will continue doing shows in their Warnbro home base. The first show Invasion will be on June 26, followed by Retribution on July 24. *****

Photo: All Action Wrestling Former WA State Champion, James Grace will be missing from AAW action for a while after being viciously attacked with a steel chair by Jimmy Swell and newcomer, Just Jordan at Code Red 2010. Swell got the victory with a Shooting Star Press, following Jordan throwing powder into Graces eyes as he was setting up to hit Swell with a frog splash, to become the new number one contender for the WA State Title.

CHAMPIONSHIP CONDITION RETAINED

Following Paynes victory with a gore, the angry Dooley proceeded to try and break Paynes hand, viciously stomping on it, smashing it with a Singapore cane and finally putting it in chair and stomping on it from the second rope. HOUR BLACKENED FOR ALLSTARS

Photo: Explosive Pro Wrestling In successfully defending the EPW Championship in a 30 minute time limit draw against Davis Storm on Night One of Evolution 2010, Jamie Jurah showed some tendencies, he hadnt shown in EPW since his days as part of the Brat Pack. The reigning champion used stalling tactics and dirty shots to cling on to the title. Following the match, Jurah proceeded to announce to Storm that he would have to earn another shot at Jurah, which he did on Night Two with victory over Jay Taylor, Carlo Cannon and Shotgun Tyler Jacobs, in a Four Way Match to earn another opportunity for the title. EPW Board of Directors member, Brett Corvus, came out after the match to say that although Jay Taylor is also a #1 Contender he would have to wait until a later time, and that Storm would get his shot at Hell or Highwater. 10TH INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT UNDERWAY The 2010 Invitational Tournament is starting to take shape as the first four Quarter Final participants have been decided. Former EPW Tag Team Champions, Carlo Cannon, Marcius Pitt, along with South Australian Elliot Sexton and former EPW Champion, Bobby Marshall were victorious in their three way Elimination Matches at Evolution 2010. The annual tournament began at the very first Explosive Coastal Wrestling show Awakening in November 2001, with Jimmy Payne being the inaugural winner over Davis Storm. DOOLEYS BITTER ATTACK The issue between Jimmy Payne and Nate Dooley look far from over after Dooleys actions , following their match at Night Two of Evolution 2010. During their bout Payne had refused to hit Dooley until he was goaded into it once to often.

Photo: Explosive Pro Wrestling The bitter feud between The Blackest Hour and Team Allstar continued at Evolution 2010 and looks set to continue after The Hour were victorious over the Allstars in a six man tag match on Night Two. The Allstars took a battering with coach, Big Vin Penhero being powerbombed through the commentary table by Dorian and captain, Sebastian Sander receiving a beatdown post-match by the entire faction. EPW GET NATIONAL TV COVERAGE Explosive Pro Wrestling took part in two weather segments on the nationally televised Weekend Sunrise on June 12, with presenter James Tobin sporting Gavin McGavins headgear and calling himself the Tobinator. Appearing on the show along with McGavin were Bobby Marshall, Davis Storm, Dan Moore, Richter, Devlin Reeves, Bruiser Barry Schmidt and Gorgeous Garry Schmidt. The segments were filmed in Kings Park with the second cross ending up in a brawl after Storm got a quick plug in for Hell or Highwater. ***** STRAIGHT EDGE CONTENDER David Hawk became the new number one contender for the NHPW Cruiser High-Fi Championship after winning a Four Way match at Hardcore Resurrection, against current champion Heritor, Matthew Hallmark and Daxon Kage. of his career at Hardcore Resurrection, when he challenged former two time TNA Knockout champion Awesome Kong to a match at Augusts Southern Impact. Is James insane, or is he just confident that with the help of his allies, Flash Williams and Eden will be enough to help him overcome the Awesome one? KAGE DEBUTS FOR NHPW Daxon Kage made his first appearance in a WA ring since November, in the Four Way match at Hardcore Resurrection. The Son of Anarchy, has been competing for PWI in Adelaide as well as the AWF at Supanova Expos throughout the country. DANIELS Unfortunately, due to ROH booking a PPV taping for Southern Impact weekend, Christopher Daniels has had to pull out of the tour. Daniels has said he will be down for Final Chapter in November, which will be Manas last shows in Australia as a in-ring competitor. NHPW management are looking at bringing in a replacement for The Fallen Angel. Awesome Kong and Sonjay Dutt are still scheduled to appear at the shows on August 20-21. ***** NEW SHWA CHAMPION

HRPW Leader, Blake The Man Mitchell, Matthew Hallmark, Benjie the Clown and Cannonball Kris Taylor proceeded to beat down NHPWs NC Viper and Kabel following their victory over the duo, until help arrived from the back in the form of Percy T. and Tama Williams. David Hawk, also from the HRPW promotion left his fellow South Australian roster mates fuming when he refused to join in on the attack, instead helping the NHPW competitors. INSANE CHALLENGE

The Muscle Militias Wraith sealed the win for SHWA when he defeated Zak Sabbath in the last of match of the series. Five Years Ago: July 16, 2005 - EPW: Hell or Highwater After nearly four years of having their home base in Wanneroo, EPW made their first appearance at the Alma Venville Recreation Centre in Maylands with the fourth annual Hell or Highwater. Mikey after losing his EPW Championship to Richter, who had cashed in his title shot at Evolution 2005, regained the title in a brutal Street Fight. In another Championship Match, The Genetically Superior Team successfully defended their Tag Team titles against Awsome Inc. HOHW also saw the end of the first feud between Jamie Jurah and Devlin Reeves was settled when Reeves was victorious in a Last Man Standing Match and James Street defeated Chris Vice to advance in the Invitational Tournament. One Year Ago: July 11, 2009 - AAW: Intensity In the fallout from the Last Man Standing Match at Code Red, The Shark and Erico teamed with Imogen Jane and Serene respectively in a Title vs. Title Intergender Tag Match. The Shark and Imogen Jane were the successful team, with Shark becoming the new Platinum Australian Champion. The match was Ericos last for the company before he returned to the United States. Joey Angels Independent Championship reign continued when he was successful over Percy T. and Dustin Dice became the new AAW Champion when he defeated Craven, who was wrestling his last match for AAW before making his United States debut. July 11, 2009 - EPW: Hell or Highwater Four years of EPW history at the Alma Venville Recreation Centre came to an end with the last show to be held at the building before it was bulldozed, and EPW made sure it went out with a bang. Richter defended the EPW title with the help of the Blackest Hour against Bobby Marshall. Marshall furious with how he lost the match blasted referee Giles O Brien with a vicious chair

short which caused blood to spurt out the top of OBriens head a like a fountain. Jose Del Santo was badly injured at the hands of a vicious Team Allstar attack during his I Quit match against The Don Michael Morleone. Del Santo put up a brave fight but was overwhelmed by the numbers. The 2009 Invitational Tournament continued with Shotgun Tyler Jacobs, Jay Taylor, Dan Moore, Sebastian Sander, Damian Slater and Davis Storm all advancing to the Semi Finals. July 18, 2009 - SHWA: Darkness Rising The Muscle Militia was complete when the newest member Pain joined the stable after he was supposed to take on Jarrad Slate in a singles match. Jake Paragon, Mad Mike Massive and Brothers of Construction member, Corey proceeded to come out and challenge the Militia to a Six Man Tag match. Earlier in the show, After a long build up, Mad Mike Massive finally split from his manager Ebenizah J. Klaus, after Klaus hit Galen with his clipboard to get Massive intentionally disqualified. The show also saw the last appearances in SHWA for AJ Stinger, Vic Galen and Default Dragon. July 31, 2009 - NHPW: Hardcore Resurrection New Horizon Pro Wrestling retuned to the WA scene after a near two year absence, this time bringing out former ECW & NWA World Champion, The King of Old School Steve Corino and the returning Mercedes Martinez. This the first of two nights was headlined by a Survivor Series styled match between Team Corino and the Kill Switch Krew led by The Polynesian Warrior Mana. Two championship matches opened the show with NC Viper going over AWF Commonwealth Champion, Powerhouse Theo (NSW) and Jarrad Slate defeating ICW World Champion, Cannonball Kris Taylor (SA), however neither title changed hands as they were both won via DQ. In Mixed Tag Team action Mercedes Martinez and Percy T. were successful over The Wraith and Bombshell Bo (NSW)

Obnoxious, sniveling, cheat and other words which cant be printed are words that have been used to describe the 2009 WPW Manager of the Year, Ebenizah J. Klaus. He certainly is someone who truly knows how to get the fans offside. But what about the man behind Ebenizah? Tez got the opportunity to speak to the man behind the scenes and got to see the other side of one of the best managers in WA wrestling history, Ebenizah J. Klaus.

naturally I marked out! At the end of the show (this was 2006), I sought out Shark, asked to be a manager and he said yes! WPW: How did you get the name Ebenizah J. Klaus? KLAUS: In 2006 my dream came true when I got the opportunity to finally become a manager when I got a spot at AAW. Being stuck for a name, I asked my father for any ideas. He turned around and said How about Ebenizah J. Klaus?, and that was that! WPW: Did the development of the character come after the name, or did you always have in mind the direction you wanted to take? KLAUS: I always knew that my character would be an amalgam of everything an old school manager should be. In my non-wrestling job, I work with classic cars and some very rich customers! Let's just say that after dealing with the Peppermint Grove set some of their more pretentious mannerisms became part of the character. But the most left-field of inspiration came from the Church of Scientology in Perth! A few years ago, every time I went to Perth and passed the Church of Loonies (as they should be called!) there was this strange guy out the front with a clipboard taking notes as people walked past. One day, after seeing this for the umpteenth time, I thought "Damn....a clipboard would make a great gimmick weapon for a manager!" Finally the Church of Scientology has done some good! WPW: You have actually got in the ring and wrestled a few times against the likes of Jarrad Slate in AAW and Flashy Barry Hawkins in SHWA. Do you like getting in the ring and competing? KLAUS: It is my favourite part of being a manager. When you have had a successful feud with a face, the crowd want to see the evil bastard get his just desserts. If they go mad for the face and love seeing me squirm, beg and get beaten down it is a job well done! A manager exists to get more heat for his wrestler and the face, I feel that getting in the ring is the best way to get them over and give the fans what they want to see. Namely me getting beaten to a sniveling pulp. WPW: You have been ringside for a lot of matches over the past three and half years. What have been some of your particular favourites? KLAUS: Very hard question...I really enjoyed the

Photo: Southern Hemisphere Wrestling Alliance WPW: What managers have influenced you over the years? KLAUS: I started watching wrestling in 1986, the golden age of managers! Bobby The Brain Heenan was the first manager I ever saw perform. Then one day in, I think it was 1988, I saw an awesome Jim Cornette promo. From that day, Bobby The Brain Heenan and Jim Cornette became the two men whom sealed what I wanted to be. Ive ripped off a lot of them! WPW: The art of the manager seems lost on the US scene, but in WA and throughout the country we have some very good ones. Which Aussie managers do you enjoy the work of? KLAUS: Mark Williamson is a great manager over east. In WA, the best is William Darcy. I worked with him in AAW when he was known as Allan Aldworth. I learnt a lot from him when it comes to working a crowd. WPW: How did you get your start with AAW? KLAUS: A friend of mine Benjamin Steel, nagged me to come and see some local wrestling. Since it was the first live wrestling I had ever seen,

Westside Pro Wrestling

break-up period with Mad Mike Massive, that was a complete hoot as we have always clicked when it comes to our performance, and the break-up angle was a great learning curve for me as it was a different type of performance. More of an angry, disappointed boss then supportive manager. One that really stands out was working at Snakepit last year with Massive, Jarrad Slate and Jake Paragon. The crowd were absolutely rabid and being the foreigners as it were, it added an entirely new dimension to the night.

WPW: You have managed quite a few wrestlers and stables over the years you have been in the business. Who have been your favourites? KLAUS: At the risk of being clichd, all of them, because I was amazed I could even become a manager! But what really stands out is my feud with Jarrad Slate at AAW. But the managing Mad Mike Massive and The Muscle Militia was just as satisfying, and lets not forget Captain Awesome (now EPWs Alex The Kid Kingston), my first client. Yep, definitely for me it has just been one gigantic heap of fantastic memories. Heres hoping there is decades more, because I want to manage as long as I have a pulse and operating vocal chords! WPW: Do you have any advice for those looking to become a manager? KLAUS: Watch as many old school manager performances as possible, especially Heenan and Cornette. Managing is something that is not really taught, more learned through experience and analysing as much of other managers as possible (mainly because they are a disappearing breed!). Ive found the best advice is to get a character fleshed out and ready before you even think of going into shows. Also, when it comes to practicing, rant in front of a mirror, practice your facial expressions, even have a huge rant as you are driving (spending two hours on the road every working day, I get a lot of practice!). But most important I believe, is you must WANT to be a manager, not just appearing and working shows so you can tell all your friends youre in a wrestling fed. If you don't have a passion for managing and for the history of managing, you are wasting your time and the time of the wrestlers you are working with. WPW: Thank you very much for your time, Klaus.

Photo: SHWA/Jarod WPW: Managers have to have the gift of the gab and be able to cut a decent promo. What have been some of the best promos youve cut over the years? KLAUS: When it comes to promos, I always work under the rule that I can always do better, and if I ever think to myself that was awesome...damn I am awesome. I will report to the nearest wrestler for some humility to be beaten into me!

Now as the past has shown us, the invitational tournament is a massive stepping-stone to the big things in EPW and it guarantees you a future title shot. The importance of the tournament is even more so now with the history behind it and the list of previous winners, that reads like a whos who of WA wrestling. Another fact to add is that it is the longest running pro wrestling tournament in Australias history. Due to all the information above, EPWs invitational tournament has become highly anticipated and the talk of the Australian wrestling scene. Everyone keeps a close eye on the proceedings and winners, whilst many try to get themselves involved so that they can be added to the illustrious list of former winners, as well as get a chance to wrestle for the EPW championship. It also seems that the tournament gets bigger each year, last year the matches were contested under 3 way elimination rules and the final was a 4 way match. It also seems in the early days the tournament was seen as a stepping stone for up and comers, but as time goes on wrestlers of the higher end of the card are now joining in due to the magnitude of the tournament and also to get a shot at the gold. It should be noted as well that more

often than not an invitational winner ends up winning EPW gold in the near future, it really does live up to the hype. In recent times with the growing popularity of the tournament and the fact of it being the longest running, people outside of WA have gotten themselves involved in it. It was last year we almost had a South Australian, Damian Slater take the trophy back home with him. We were lucky Davis Storm managed to defeat Slater in a singles match after the 4 way match at Re-Awakening ended in controversy. Davis Storm is a man who had done it all in EPW but he still sort to become an invitational winner and in doing that, he got his shot at the title last month at Evolution. Speaking of Evolution, it was the starting point for 2010s tournament, two three way matches were held with 4 wrestlers moving on in the bracket. The first match saw Carlo Cash Money Cannon and The Golden Greek Marcius Pitt victorious and Chris Vice eliminated. Night two saw South Australias Elliot Sexton and EPWs own Bobby Marshall both win, whilst The Future Dan Moore must wait until next year for his chance at the trophy.

Photo: Explosive Pro Wrestling Although early in the tournament things are already looking interesting when you look at who has advanced so far. Carlo Cannon in his short time in EPW has built himself notoriety that few have here in WA and in saying that his talents are also to be noted. Mr. Cash Money is a former EPW tag team champion and has proven (many times) that he can hang with the best, this making him extremely dangerous for the other competitors in the tournament. It also didnt take him long to post a video claiming how the trophy will be staying in Melbourne, I for one hope that doesnt happen. Adelaides own Elliot Sexton is another wrestler from outside WA to advance. We only saw him in EPW for the first time at Evolution. Those of us

Westside Pro Wrestling

Page 13

that were present saw how impressive he was and the fact that we dont know him too well means he also has the upper hand on his opponents. We know he is fast and athletic, but I still believe we havent seen the best of Sexton and it shall be very interesting to watch how he proceeds in the other matches of the tournament.

Photo: Explosive Pro Wrestling As for EPWs hometown invitational prospects (so far in the tournament anyway) we have Marcius Pitt, who I believe is having one of the best years of his career. He may not have the best win/loss

record, but every match he has been in he has given 100% and gone above and beyond expectations. His star is on a rise and he would be a perfect addition to the prestigious list of former winners. Also if he was to get a shot at the EPW championship, we could see a new champion crowned. He has the size, strength and most of all the heart to get the job done, but as previous years have shown, it wont be easy. Finally we have Bobby Marshall, an EPW success story, a former EPW champion and tag champion. He has wrestled and held titles overseas but one thing he hasnt done is win the invitational tournament, if he were to add that to his list of credentials it would make him an even hotter commodity. The other factor is if he were to win, Bobby would get a chance to challenge for the EPW championship witch he previously held for a long time dominating all of Explosive Pro Wrestling. All of us know he has everything it takes to win, you could almost write him down as the favorite at the moment to win the trophy, but with other participants to join plus the others who have advanced, Bobby will have his work cut out for him. In conclusion, Evolution started an exciting part of the year as we all get to enjoy the fantastic matches in EPW as the best of the best wrestle it out so they can be written in history as the 2010 EPW invitational champion, I cant wait. Until next time, keep supporting local wrestling and stay tuned to epwperth.com

Title where I beat TNAs Abyss and had nothing left in the second round to beat TNAs Homicide. I truly hope Trent has found the peace he searched for his whole short life. Trent Acid was taken from us at the young age of 29 after a stunning career taking on the best in Pro Wrestling. I first saw Trent in NJ for JAPW when it was running out of a closed down market store in Bayonne in 2000. Trent had just returned from Japan and looked like something out of Matrix long trench coat shades with silver gear on. I cant remember who he wrestled that night - at a guess I would say it was Dave Greco, but what I can remember was this was the first Yakuza Kick which I thought took the other guys head off.

Photo: The Wrestling Truth I had an article about a lot of things this week but I want to touch base with something that struck me down this weekend. This is in memory of Trent Acid (Michael Verde) a guy I know loved partying, women, good times, his real friends and pro wrestling. Himself, Johnny Kashmere and Rockin Rebel formed Pro Wrestling Unplugged, a fed I worked with on so many occasions including there first full show. Trent and Johnny gave me a huge chance to break out in Philadelphia with my first bookings with high profile names including there PWU Heavyweight

Photo: Online World of Wrestling Trent was charismatic with his tom foolery in the locker rooms, always happy and could call some of the most intricate spots I have ever seen in wrestling and pull them off to the nth degree. His body was immaculate, much like John Morrison from WWE and the Backseat Boys for the longest time on the Pro Independents were the premier Tag Team in the States if not the world. There Dream Sequence is often imitated but never executed to the Backseats standard and there finisher the T Gimmick (Double Outsiders Edge variation) was simple but explosive finish. Then of course there is the Yakuza - last article I compared it to Homicides Machete and Davis Storms flying variation boot. Trents was the best Yakuza style superkick I have seen bar none. I know this is a short article but I truly do not want to over talk Trent Acid for what he really is. To me Trent Acid was one of those guys who ended up being unfulfilled potential. His loss is tragic but a lesson a lot of young should learn from - Trent had a lot of respect in the pro wrestling world and a lot of fans truly do love him. It could all be gone tomorrow, work hard and live each moment when you enter the arena for a show.

Enjoy and take in every moment you are in that environment and no matter how good you are, study and learn more. Trent was a student of the game well and truly, he loved wrestling and I cannot believe he is gone. I truly pray July 10 at the Alhambra Arena is successful as a farewell to you the workers who have put there names forward show the respect you have in this business and ACIDFEST will be the

Best just like you were. Thank you brother for the matches we worked in, the shows we worked on together and the back stage jokes and ribs you had me cracking up every time with. You always treated me with respect and I am thankful to say I knew Trent AcidMay you Rest in Peace Verde, Pro Wrestling will miss the real Underground King and Philly will always be the beloved home of Trent Acid.

come from there. We moved also to Matamata and Te Puke, which was where I lived before moving to Australia in 2002. For those who dont know Taupo is the lake in the middle of the North Island. It was a fun place with obviously a lot of childhood memories. I moved to Australia when I was 12 years old so it was definitely a big change of scenery, but its been really good to me. WPW: Which wrestlers inspired you growing up? TAMA: Definitely the Rock without a doubt. I dont have to explain what made him as good as he was, but having that Samoan background I could relate to him. So growing up as a fan of wrestling I thought if a Samoan could make it to the top, then so could a New Zealander. Thats how I saw it and its what drove me to this day. WPW: Did you wrestle for any other company before you joined the AWF and how did you get involved with the company? TAMA: No. AWF will always be my home and it was there I took my first training session in February 2009. Before then I lived with my Dad in North Queensland in a town called Ingham. I knew I had to at least try and follow my dreams of being a professional wrestler, so I contacted Greg Bownds who runs the AWF School of ProWrestling in Sydney. I had been searching on the internet for wrestling schools in Australia and I thought Greg had a very impressive wrestling career already, so I knew AWF was the place I

Photo: Australian Wrestling Federation WPW: Your profile on the AWF website lists you as hailing from Taupo, New Zealand. Did you live there for long before moving to Australia and what was Taupo like? TAMA: I spent most of my time living in Taupo. I was born there and practically all of my family

Westside Pro Wrestling

Page 16

wanted to train at. From there I gave up everything I had in Ingham and moved to straight to Sydney. I had never been there, I didnt know a single person in the entire state and I didnt have a job there. It was a tough decision, but I knew it had to be done. WPW: What was it like training at the AWF dojo? TAMA: It was hard work. When I started training I was so intimidated by the all the wrestlers I wouldnt say a word all session. The training itself was well put together and I was lucky in that I managed to pick up everything fairly quick. I made sure I wouldnt miss a single training, I would make sure I stayed behind to get some extra training and I would make sure I went home and studied what a had learnt each week. I quickly realised when I started that professional wrestling wasnt all what I had imagined and there was so much work to be done. I trained as hard as I could and it wasnt until October 2009 that I debuted on shows, so still to this day wasnt long ago. I truly believe that the AWF has one of the best wrestling schools in Australia and highly recommend it for anyone anywhere. WPW: In your short career so far you have wrestled names such as Sinn Bodhi (WWEs Kizarny) and Colt Cabana. What has it been like for you to have wrestled such names early in your career? TAMA: Amazing. You know I'm so grateful I've been able wrestle these guys so early and it's something I'll never forget. It's fairly rare for international talent of that standard to wrestle in Australia, so to be able to say I've wrestled two already means a lot to me. They were both great guys and both great matches so I can't ask for much more. They're two guys that made it to WWE, regardless of how long they were there for, they still made it. Sinn was my only my 4th match during my debuting month, so you could had imagined how nervous I was. They were great to me and wrestling those two guys, as I said, I'll never forget. WPW: Who do you like on the Australian scene and who would you like to wrestle? TAMA: Any chance I get to wrestle TNT is such an honour. Ive already wrestled him a couple of times and our matches are better and better every time. Hes a guy I look up to and respect highly. As for others, I think Mint Condition Mick Moretti and Iron Jay Ben Coles are both well rounded wrestlers and great to watch. Also, Percy T is someone else to look out for in WA, who I think has a bright future. WPW: You recently had a shot at Powerhouse Theos AWF Commonwealth Championship but unfortunately came up on the losing side. Was this your first big chance at a Championship?

TAMA: I had wrestled for both the AWF Tag Team and Young Lions Championship before, but unfortunately was the same result. The Commonwealth title is something that means the most to me and representing New Zealand its something Im always going to be chasing to bring home. At the moment Powerhouse Theo has held it for 14 months and I know firsthand hes a very tough guy to beat, but I promise you it wont be the last time he sees of me.

Photo: Jarod/NHPW WPW: Youre currently teaming on occasion with the Samoan Warrior in the AWF, how is the team coming along? TAMA: Warrior and I make up AWFs Island Tribe. We started the training the same day and we have a close connection being from New Zealand and Samoa. Even though were not always on the same page, we got each others back. Were looking to continue our team throughout winter and looking towards those tag team titles. WPW: Do you have any plans to showcase your talents overseas in the near future? TAMA: If all goes to plan I'm hoping to be training at the Wild Samoans Training Centre in 2011. Its produced the best in Island wrestling and its success stories speak for themselves. Ive been gathering information from past graduates and thats my short term goal at the moment. And from there...who knows. WPW: What are you hoping to achieve in NHPW? Were you surprised by the reception you got from the WA fans? TAMA: Definitely. Its always nervous wrestling somewhere new and thinking how theyll react. I had a really good response and feedback from the NHPW and WA fans. Theyll definitely be seeing a lot of me in NHPW in the future and hopefully I can make New Zealand proud and the Maori people proud. NHPW is an honour to be a part of, but I can tell you I have plans of making a big impact this year. Thats all I can give away at the moment.
