...SO i HAVEN'T been back to holy wave since Howard Yoon left...he gave his final goodbye sermon a few weeks ago.. recounting how he came here..& his various personal experiences...and now he's going back to dallas, albeit he's originally from New York..; anyways, we wish him well..and now today (7/22/12) after attending my other church earlier I arrived at holy wave around 11:30 ..and came in just as the message was beginning...and the message was about "waiting" ...or "waiting on the Lord".. : John talked about how long King David had to wait to get to a position of prominence.. & John talked about his own life... this is a characteristic of Holy Wave...every preacher I've heard here inevitably ends up tying their own personal history into the message..sometimes relevantly..other times a bit self-indulgently..& I'm not saying which was which in this case..but just as a general shout-out to all pastors (and I have an M.Div. myself) let us NOT take advantage of the congregation by becoming overly self-indulgent in terms of talking about ourselves in the pulpit.I continue to pray for the Holy Wave congregation and one of my other congregations (which is struggling)..

anything about man hee lee, & apparently crystal cathedral management didn't either when they rented the sanctuary to bellflower's Zion Korean Church for the event (seems strange they didn't "vet" the event prior to rental)..the controversy apparently is due to the fact that Man Hee Lee (from S. Korea) claims that "JESUS appeared before him as a 'bright heavenly figure'...and that the "Book of Revelation has already been fulfilled" (quoting from OC Register article 7/21/12)...defenders of Lee

say he is "not claiming to be the 2nd coming of the Messiah"...and wishes people would "not call it a cult"(Joseph Suhng). "Lee says in his literature that he is 'the only person who saw & heard the events of Revelation & can testify to the mysteries...exactly according to the Bible." (Article by Rkopetman@ocregister.com) THEY CALLED THIS THE "ZION FLAG TEAM" which did a little jingo before the presentation began (re Man Hee Lee presentation @ the Crystal Cathedral on 7/21/12 "...so I am arriving @ the Man Hee Lee event @ crystal cathedral...numerous attractive, formally-dressed, gals greeting in front,..some of Asian descent, a few Anglos,..one particularly attractive caught my eye..maybe just because I was expecting it to be an AsianAmerican-only event essentially cheering their leader from Korea.the cathedral is not filled..just the middle section..half-full,...there are headphones for everybody..b/c apparently Man hee Lee speaks only in Korean..now the musical people are warming up in front, singing "Blessed be the name of the Lord"..there's a big banner up front that says "Open Bible Seminar: The Revelation is Fulfilled" & a quote from Revelation 22.17. ...also on each side r banners with all the names of the various apostles: james ,john, thomas , simon, bartholomew, thaddaeus, peter,matthew,philip, james, matthias, andrew... ..as u enter they ask u to register..a gal at a table asks me how I heard about the event..I actually read about it as a "controversial event" in the oc register, ..apparently some crystal cathedral "members" were/are upset about it..thinking its a "cult",..apparently Man Hee Lee makes some bold assertions about having had some sort of personal experience with Jesus Himself (something about the book of revelations).....they're using the jumbotron..advertising "follow-up studies"..Contact@worldopenseminar.com, other labels & contact names I see include "Shinchonji Church of Jesus,the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony" and www.scjbible.tv...as far as punctuality goes, it is now 10:48am..with a scheduled start time of 10:30,..how long now?...how strange to sit in this cathedral where our family came in 1984, & to reflect on all the changes over the years...& in less than a year from now, the original ministry itself will no longer be here.. ..did I just see a flash of the jumbotron saying " no pictures' & another saying "please remain in your seat"? I TOLD this guy I don't have your translator.. getting a bit too much of this.. I could hear them singing for about 30 minutes..lots of contemporary praise music & I decided to wait for a while before returning...simply wanted to hear Man Hee Lee..& I strolled around taking pictures of the praise stones that people around the world purchased and placed around the campus with different Bible verses. IT's a shame that some are so worn out now.. wish they could have done something to preserve them..like a replaceable plexi-glass shield over them ? too late now. ..1147am ask no questions until the end.. [He has a crowd of cheerleaders..} ...THE above are notes of Man Hee Lee's presentation.,..albeit I left early..as I couldn't concentrate after a while.& didn't want to just sit there pretending to listen...as I left the same guy made sure he asked me if I left the "translator" on the chair..yes I did..they seemed so concerned that I would walk off with their little radio translator... WHAT's MY CONCLUSION & ASSESSMENT? It is surely difficult to say a person is legitimate or a fraud after one complicated theological presentation, so I won't make any grand pronouncements. You can read the notes above ..it's almost verbatim, if not perfectly..there was some repetition, & of course this was all given thru the translator. The staff seemed particularly eager to take as many pics as possible of the audience. Numerous cameramen & women strolled around snapping pics & capturing video of the audience. I told one of the ushers that I would prefer to NOT have my photo taken, . given they seem to be intent on using the photos of the audience to promote their message, which I do NOT yet know much about, let alone not enough to endorse it by placing my photo next to it. That's a bit much to ask after having only seen & heard Man Hee Lee one time. I don't even know for sure how to summarize his presentation. Read the notes for yourself...
