XD, XG, & XT Accuracy Problems with Accurcy Alarm Sounding 1.) Verify the Encoder shaft is perpendicular to the rack and that it spring-loaded into the rack. Make sure the Encoder Cable does not impede the Encoder's gear from firmly engaging the rack during the complete front to back movement of the Backgauge. 2.) Verify the Encoder does not contact any part of the machine frame during its complete travel. This includes the screws that mount the rack to the bottom of the table and when the Backgauge pass through the frame of the machine at approximately 5 inches (127 mm). 3.) Make sure the Preset Sensor is not broken, free from debris and is clean. Verify the Preset Blade and the Preset Assemblys electrical box and circuit board are mounted securely. The 5 (127 mm) long Preset Blade should be centered from left to right in the preset sensor and that the wand depth is 2/3 of the way into the sensor at both the front and rear. 4.) Slide the rubber boot off the bottom of the Encoder and unplug the Encoder Cable from the Encoder. There were two different Encoder Cables used in the machine and each had different wire colors. Measure the voltages between Black to Red, Black to White, and Black to Green. If your cable does not have these colors, then measure the voltage between Brown to Yellow, Brown to Green, and Brown to White. All voltage should be approximately 5 volts DC ( 0.4 VDC). If you do not have voltage, the Encoder Cable is defective. 5.) Measure voltage on the H2 twelve pin terminal strip at the top edge of EE-2807-2 circuit board located in the lower Electrical Panel. Pin 1 of the terminal strip is located on the right side. The voltage between wire numbers 7 (H2-3) and 8 (H2-4) should be between 4.8 and 5.1 volts DC. 6.) Rotate the rear Leadscrew pulley very very slowly as you measure voltage. Measure voltage on the H2 twelve pin terminal strip on the top edge of EE-2807-2 circuit board located in the lower Electrical Panel. The voltage between wire numbers 8 (H2-4) and 9 (H2-2) should toggle between 0 and 5 volts DC, 250 times per revolution of the Leadscrew. The voltage between wire numbers 8 (H2-4) and 10 (H2-1) should also toggle between 0 and 5 volts DC, 250 times per revolution of the Handwheel. If either wire pair do not toggle, either the Encoder is defective. 7.) Move the Backgauge either forward or reverse with the buttons. Measure voltage on the H2 twelve pin terminal strip at the top edge of EE-2807-2 circuit board located in the lower Electrical Panel. The voltage between wire numbers 8 (H2-4) and 9 (H2-2) should measure around 2.3 volts DC. The voltage between wire numbers 8 (H2-4) and 10 (H2-1) should measure around 2.3 volts DC. If either wire pair is not correct, then the Encoder is defective. 8.) Move the Backgauge either forward or reverse with the buttons. Measure voltage on the H2 twelve pin terminal strip at the top edge of EE-2807-2 circuit board located in the lower Electrical Panel. The voltage between wire numbers 9 (H2-2) and 10 (H2-1) should measure very close to 0 volts DC. If voltage is greater than 0.2 volts DC, then the Encoder is defective. As a note; when the Backgauge is stopped, the volt could measure +5 volts DC, 0 volts DC, or -5 volts DC.
