l The society is taking a keen interest
in the changes to the Brewers Arms Barn,
a listed building and possibly the oldest
building in Neston. It is one of 18 stops
on their Town Trail. They are preparing
a revised colour version of this popular
booklet, a guide to historic buildings in
Nestons Conservation Area.

THE Grosvenor Hotel, in
Chester, was the venue for
the wedding of Amy Watkins
and Tim Burrell. Amy attended
Woodfall Primary School and
trained from at Wirral Theatre
School in Ness. She is now
a dance teacher in Leeds, a
choreographer at Stage 84
in Bradford, and a performer,
dancing around the country
as a member of The Vegas
Showgirls. She met her future
husband when she was in 6th
form and he was at Chester
University. They are now 26
and 30!

special assembly last month. Each class shared what they had learnt about the
Chinese spring festival, performing songs and dances, sampling Oriental foods

Long serving midday assistant hangs up her whistle
The staff and pupils at Woodfall Primary School said their farewells to Mrs Williams
who has been a midday assistant at the school for 37 years. The children thanked her
for all the help she has given them, and in many cases even their parents, over the
years. Mrs Williams said: Ive enjoyed every minute of it and the happiness I have
enjoyed has come from the children.
Woodfall children support visually impaired charity
Children at Woodfall Primary School enjoyed a Funky Frames Day to raise money for
the local charity Vision Support. The charity based in Chester is raising money to open
and run a support Centre in Chester for visually impaired people and their families.
They raised 270 on the day thanks to the kind donations of our parents and had a
huge response to the competition.

Eyes down at Neston Primary
A very successful bingo evening was held recently at Neston Primary School, Burton
Road. Over 80pupils, parents, friends of the school and members of the public enjoyed
several games of bingo with a selection of excellent prizes on offer, many of which
were donated by local companies.
Fun in the snow
Pupils at Neston Primary School enjoyed the recent snowfall when they held a
snowman competition. The winning creation was in fact a snow snail.

Make a date for Mayors charity ball
NESTON mayor Councillor Pat Hughes and his wife Marie are hosting a
charity ball in the Cranston Suite at Neston Cricket Club on Friday 10th
May at 7.30pm.
The evening will consist of a drinks reception, three course meal,
entertainment and dancing. All proceeds from the evening will go to the
Wirral Prostate Cancer Support Group and the Clatterbridge Cancer
Charity to aid breast cancer patients.
The mayor is particularly keen that this will be an evening in Neston for
Neston residents and sourced entirely from within Neston, acts from within the town
have been lined up for the entertainment and catering will be by Cheeky Chilli Events
under the direction of Phil Williams head chef at the Marsh Cat Restaurant.
Tables for 10 can be hosted or individual tickets costing 35 per head can be obtained

The speaker at the February meeting was Sue Dutton, retired Commissioner for Wirral
Guides. She talked about Guiding past and present, throughout the 2nd World War

gatherers of fruit for preserving, right up to the modern Girls in Action today .
Forthcoming events include; lunch at Wirral Met College, Tours of St. George Hall,

A group of big-hearted slimmers from
Neston are doing their bit for our local
community and for their own health by
taking part in a sponsored slim to raise
money for a local charity.
Members of the Neston British Legion
Slimming World group are taking part in
the weight loss clubs national Slim for
good campaign which aims to support
communities across the uK by improving
the health of local people and raising
money for a local good cause at the same
time.

amount of motivation and commitment.

Youth theatre group stage original play
Estuary walk for a good cause
NESTON and District Christian Aid Committee is
organising its annual seven-mile Sponsored Walk
on Saturday 16th March.
The money we raise will help the very poorest
people, said Lynne Vaughan, secretary of the
committee.
Christian Aid works through local organisations, so
they dont waste money on administration.
Walkers raised over 2,200 from the Sponsored
Walk in March 2012. you dont have to be a
Christian to join in the walk.
Walkers will set off from the United Reformed Church Hall, Parkgate Road, at
9am. The walk goes along the Wirral Way, past Parkgate to the village of Gayton,
where refreshments will be served, then down to the Dee Estuary to walk along the
coastal footpath, re-joining the Wirral Way at Backwood Hall. Hot soup and home-
made bread will be served at the URC Hall on return. This pleasant walk is mostly
fat, and 6 miles in all. It can be muddy in places, but is suitable for all ages and
dogs.

THERE is a new barcode
pass scheme in place at
Neston Household Waste
Recycling Centre (HWRC).
People who want to use
Neston HWRC will need a
new bar-coded Residents
Household Waste Permit
and this must be shown
on every visit to Neston
HWRC where it will be
scanned by the site staff.
The permits are issued
free of charge to Cheshire
West and Chester
residents, have unlimited
usage and are only
valid for the disposal of
household waste.

permit system in Neston
so that Cheshire West and
Chester residents receive
a more effcient service
when they visit the site.
The Bar-coded permits
will allow the site staff to
check residents details
easily and allow residents
quicker access to the site.
Residents using a van,
pickup, commercial type
4x4 and MPV or using
a trailer with an internal
length over 1.5m will need
a permit in advance.
A separate bar-coded
permit allows each
resident a total of six
visits within six months for
the disposal of domestic
waste. The Council does
not accept commercial or
industrial waste.
The permits will be
instantly available via
e-mail and can be
collected from a number
of dedicated Council
buildings located across
the Borough.
Currently 77 percent of
the waste received at the
HWRCs is recycled or
reused.

WHATS ON IN March
Saturday 2nd March
The Neston Crafty Market takes place from 10am-3pm, at Neston Town Hall. There will be 20
stalls with hand crafted items made by local crafters. Free admission.
Saturday 2nd March
Composting workshop at Burton Manor Gardens, 11am-12noon. Composting Advisers from
Cheshire West and Chester Council will talk about the benefts of home composting, showing
you how to do it and helping you with any problems. Each attendee will receive a 10 voucher
toward a compost bin or composting accessories( you must live in Cheshire West and Chester
to be eligible for the voucher but you are welcome to the workshop even if you dont) The
workshop is completely free and open to everyone. No need to book, just come along! If youd

Friday 8th March
An Evening of Glamour charity dinner at The Grange, Thornton Hough, 7.30pm, with
entertainment from David Marshall. Organised by local Soroptimists clubs, the evening
