I would like to give a lecture about the definition and the mission of the public health social work

and its process of practice, social work in primary care and would like to inform about Medical Social Work Branch of Ministry of Health. (course hour: 3) Public health social work s an effective way to benefit from medical treatment, social protection and promotion of health, and the environment regulate the relationship between the patient's family in the treatment process, treatment, psycho-social and socio-economic issues. Public health social work should not be defined by the setting in which one practices, but by how one practices in the setting. The public health role, unlike other, social work rolesi begins teh intervention process by assessing the health status of the collective patient/client population rather than by assessing individual patients meeds and problems. The mission of public health has been define as to: promote physical and mental health and prevent disease, injury, and disability. The essencial services that comprise its practice include monitoring health status to identify community health problems, , diagnosing health problems in the community, informing and empowering people about health, mobilizing community action, developing policies and plans to support individual and community health efforts, enforcing laws and protect health, linking people yo neden health services and assuring the provision of health care when otherwisw unavailable. In addition, essential services include assuring a competent health care workforce, evaluating teh effectiveness, accessibility and quality of health services, and conducting research for new insights and solutions to health problems (Henk et.al. 2001). Public health social workers function well at different levels, they can effectively use their multidisciplinary skills and training to serve as program directors, community services administrators, policy analysts, and other positions in fields such as maternal/child health, HIV/AIDS, disaster response, trauma intervention (e.g., related to war, terrorism, disaster), disease prevention and surveillance, substance abuse, outreach services, and advocacy. Public health social work practices are carried out by professional staff who graduated in four years of social work programmes and received the title of social worker. In Turkey, Department of Medical Social Work was established in 2011 under the Ministry of Health. Secondary and tertiary health institutions due to the Ministry of Health prepared a directive covering. Department of Medical Social Work, patients admitted to hospitals for psychosocial and social-economic problems in order to be solved, is responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring , co-ordinating the public health of social work.
