Gardens. In modernising the tired interior, the impractical cellular spaces were rationalised and 'old and new' elements were carefully juxtapositioned to dramatic effect. The staircase was used to create a feature backdrop behind the new glazed panels to the ground oor entrance area. The installation of large modern mirrors on each landing were used to link all oors, bringing more light and a sense of openness to the internal stair well. Lastly at 38 Grosvenor Gardens Mews a set of unmodernised garages and a derelict first floor apartment were remodelled into a three floor contemporary mews house.

Planning approval for St Jamess Market


25-27 Bury Street that will be redesigned by Smitheld-based architectural practice TateHindle. Currently, the buildings provide retail space at ground oor and basement levels with dated ofces above and, although unlisted, they are located within the St Jamess Conservation Area. It is proposed that the facades will be retained and, behind, there will be a residential building facing the vibrant St Jamess Street and prestige ofces facing Bury Street. James Hindle, Director, TateHindle, said: Our redesign will blend the historic with the modern. By retaining the facades and the ground oor retail space, the view from the street will remain broadly the same, but above will be four 3bedroom luxury, single-oor apartments and a 4-bedroom duplex penthouse covering two oors plus 10,300 sq ft of high quality ofce space.
