PAINTS APPLICABLE FOR BOILER

1. Ferrotol No 1 boiler compound Scope: A specially formulated anti corrosive composition for hot metal wet surfaces. Renders excellent performance in continuous contact with hot water and steam above 100 deg C. The coating largely simplifies cleaning and descaling operations. Typical uses: Recommended for use inside boiler drums, evaporators, tubes, water walls, economisers, steam accumulators, Calorifiers, steam turbine casings and similar other equipment operating with water or steam at elevated temperature. Temperature limit: Above 100 deg C up to 540 deg C. wet heat. Weatherability : Not recommended for exterior conditions Product data Type: Single pack Composition: Graphite in bituminous vehicle Application: Brush Recommended dry film thickness: 35 microns per coat Corresponding wet film thk : 78 microns per coat Theoretical spreading rate : 12.9 Sq M / lit Drying time : touch dry 6- 8 hrs Dry to handle: Over night Curing : The painted equipment after 24 hrs of air drying is to be filled with water and water temperature shall be raised to above 100 deg C for a minimum 8 hrs period. This has the effect of producing an insoluble and impermeable film. Over coating interval: 12 hrs Flash point: above 30 deg C Colour: Black Packing : 4 ltrs

Thinner /Cleaner: thinner 800 Finish: Matt Storage life: nine months Surface preparation: Make full use of mechanical tools along with Manual chipping and wire brushing to remove loose rust and scale to St 2. Swedish Standard SIS 05 5900. Excessive brushing of steel is to be avoided. Dust down the surfaces. Best results can be achieved if the manually cleaned surface is treated with Bison metal cleaning solution. Brush; Apply without thinning. No primer. Base coat & over coat Ferrotol no 1 only. Notes: Minimum water temperature must be achieved or the coating will not function will not function correctly. Low temperature operation will cause rusting, flaking, blistering. Do not apply when the temperature falls below 10 deg C or when relative humidity rises above 90 %. Or during rain, fog, or mist. Adequate ventilation must be provided. Smoking or naked lights should not be permitted and flame proof equipment should be correctly earthed.

2. Apexior no 3 Scope: A preservative coating for metal surfaces designed primarily as an external coating for boilers. The coating performs in contact with salt or fresh water at temperature below 50deg c wet heat or 230-deg c dry heat. Typical uses: Apart from boiler externals the coating can be used in condensers, air coolers cold water tanks, centrifugal pumps, piping, stoker wind box, ducting etc. Temperature limit: 230-deg c dry heat and 50-deg C wet heat. Weatherability : Acceptable in general industrial environment. Abrasion: Moderate Water: resists salt water or fresh water immersion conditions. Product data Type: Single pack

Composition: inert bitumen Application: Brush, roller, airless spray. Recommended dry film thickness: 35 microns per coat Corresponding wet film thk : 79-92 microns per coat Theoretical spreading rate : 10.9- 12.7 sq M / lit Drying time : touch dry 3-4 hrs Dry to handle : 8-10 hrs. Add up to 5 % thinner 800, if absolutely essential depending on conditions. Use any standard equipment having pump ratio 30:1.Tip size 0.38 0.43 mm. Tip pressure 125 150 kg/cm2. Typically two top coats are recommended over a base coat of Apexior no 3. Notes: Do not apply, as tank lining where tank lining drinking water is to be stored.

Do not apply when the temperature falls below 10 deg C or when relative humidity rises above 90 %. Or during rain, fog, or mist. Adequate ventilation must be provided. Smoking or naked lights should not be permitted and flame proof equipment should be correctly earthed.

3. Ferrotrol stack black Scope: for surfaces exposed to high temperatures. It protects the surface from atmospheric corrosion, chemical fumes and industrial gases. Typical uses: Recommended for use on the external surfaces of chimney, stack, furnace, etc. Temperature limit: 250 deg C dry heat. Weatherability : Acceptable in general industrial environment. Abrasion: Moderate Water: Excellent at normal as well as elevated temperatures. Product data Type : Single pack Composition : inert bitumen Application : Brush, roller, airless spray. Recommended dry film thickness: 30-40 microns per coat Corresponding wet film thk : 68-91 microns per coat Theoritical spreading rate : 11.0 14.7 sq M / lit Drying time : touch dry 4 hrs Dry to handle : 6-8 hrs Hard dry: overnight Over coating interval: 24 hrs Flash point : above 30 deg C

4. Ferrotrol HR aluminium paint Scope: A two pack high lustre aluminium paint possessing excellent exterior durability and water resistant. The product is designed to withstand a constant working temperature of 250 deg C and can be used as a heat reflecting coating. Typical uses: Recommended for use on the external surfaces of chimney , stack, furnaces, storage tanks, pipe stacks, boiler fronts , etc. Temperature limit: 250 deg c dry heat. Weatherability : Acceptable in general industrial environment. Product data

Type : dual pack- paste and medium supplied separately. Composition : Oleoresinous medium with leafing aluminium. Application : Brush or conventional spray. Recommended dry film thickness: 15 - 20 microns per coat Theoritical spreading rate : 19.0 25.3 sq M / lit Drying time : touch dry 4 hrs Dry to handle : 6-8 hrs Hard dry: overnight Over coating interval: 12hrs Flash point : above 30 deg C Colour: Black Packing : 20 &4 litres Thinner /Cleaner: thinner 800 Finish: Bright metallic Storage life: nine months Surface preparation: Make full use of mechanical tools along with Manual chipping and wire brushing to remove loose rust and scale to St 2. Application must be carried out on cold surface only. After the final coat has dried completely , the painted surface may be gradually heated. Do not apply when the temperature falls below 10 deg C or when relative humidity rises above 90 %. Or during rain , fog, or mist. The mixed paint must be used off within 48 hrs for obtaining bright Luxturous finish.

5. Berger silicone Acrylic HR Coating Scope: Designed for heat resistance along with resistance to weather and moisture. Typical uses: Recommended for use on the external surfaces of chimney, stack, furnaces, ducting, stacks, boiler fronts, etc. Temperature limit: 200-deg C dry heat. Weatherability : Acceptable as a system. Product data Type : single pack Composition: silicone acrylic medium suitably pigmented. Application : Brush or roller airless and conventional spray. Recommended dry film thickness: 25 microns per coat Corresponding WFT: 72 microns per coat Theoritical spreading rate : 14.0 sq M / lit Drying time : touch dry 30 min Dry to handle : 2-3 hrs Hard dry: overnight Over coating interval: overnight Flash point : above 20 deg C Colour: Blackwhite , grey and aluminium Packing : 20 lit

Thinner /Cleaner: thinner 853 Finish: semi glossy Storage life: nine months Surface preparation: Remove grease, oil and other contaminants. Blast clean to a minimum of Sa 2 Swedish standard SIS 05 5900.Excessive burnishing of steel should be avoided. Thoroughly dust down all surfaces. Best results can be achieved if the manually cleaned surface is treated with Bison metal conditioning solution. The metal or primed surface should be dry before painting Brush: Apply without thinning to the recommended thickness. Conventional spray: add up to 10 % thinner 853. Use any suitable standard equipment at an atomizing pressure of 2.8 3.5 kg/ cm2 Surface steel do Notes: Brushes and spray equipment should be cleaned with thinner 853 ; otherwise equipment is liable to be damaged. Do not apply when the temperature falls below 5 deg C or when relative humidity rises above 90 %. Or during rain, fog, or mist. 6. Lumeros heat resisting Aluminium paints Scope: High performance aluminium coating based on silicone resin for protection of steel at elevated temperatures between 250 & 600 degC. Typical uses: Recommended for use on the external surfaces of chimney , stack, furnaces, ducting, stacks, boiler fronts , etc. Temperature limit: 250 400 deg c dry heat HR /47 400- 500 deg c dry heat HR /123. 500 600 deg C dry heat HR/143

Weatherability : not highly acidic Product data Type : single pack Composition: silicone resin with aluminum. Application : Brush and conventional spray.

Recommended dry film thickness:15- 25 microns per coat Corresponding WFT: 72 microns per coat Theoritical spreading rate : Hr/47 & HR/123 7.0-9.0 sq M / lit/HR 143 16.0-21.0 Drying time : touch dry 30 min Dry to handle : 3-4 hrs Curing: After application of final coat, allow the system air dry for minimum 24 hrs under ambient conditions. The temperature is then to be gradually increased to 200 deg C/250 deg C and retained for minimum 16-18 hrs Hard dry: overnight Over coating interval: overnight Flash point : above 25 deg C Colour: aluminium Packing : 20 lit& 4 lits Thinner /Cleaner: thinner 853 Finish: bright metallic Storage life: nine months Surface preparation: Remove grease, oil and other contaminants preferably using Bison degreasing solvents. Blast clean to a minimum of Sa 2 Swedish standard SIS 05 5900. If blasting is not practical make full use of mechanical tools along with manual chipping to remove loose scales and rust to a Swedish standard SIS 05 5900.Excessive burnishing to be avoided. Best results can be achieved if the manually cleaned surfaces are treated with Bison metal conditioning solution.

Brush: Apply without thinning to the recommended thickness. Conventional spray: add up to 5 % thinner 853. Use any suitable standard equipment at an atomising pressure of 2.8 3.5 kg/ cm2 Surface Steel 250- 400 deg c 1 st coat 2nd coat 3 rd coat Lummerous HR 47 -

For heat resistance up to 400 deg C, zinc anode 304 can act as a primer coat which has to be applied on blast cleaned surface. Painted components should not be handled without curing. If curing is not practical the paint has to be applied insitu.
