Cement sector projects higher sales this year

BY LOUELLA D DESIDERIO

Summary: Ernesto Ordonez, president of Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines, gladly reported about the high projected sales of cement this 2013. Though data about the sales of the said sector last year is not yet available, it is expected that the same kind of performance will be seen this year. One of the main reasons for Mr. Ordonez confidence in announcing these projected reports is the continuous increase in private sectors investment in construction. Many businesses are still on their way of improving their service making way to more buildings to construct and projects to create. Aside from this, cement industry is also in favor of the governments spending. The sector will be supported by the governments decision of allocating more budget for infrastructure projects. With all of these factors, it is confident to say that 2013 will be more fruitful for the cement industry compared to 2011, where cement sales reached 15.6 million tons.

Reaction: There is no doubt that the cement industry this 2013 will be very successful. And this, I think shall not only benefit the major people concern but also the minor ones such as the workers of the said industry. Projected to be earning much this year, cement industries shall consider raise of salary for their employees. It is but fair that they should think of some ways to share the favorable condition the sector will be experiencing. As we have defined businesses do not focus

on gaining monetary profit but more in their peoples growth. These workers or employees of these companies constitutes the manpower of the business and are very helpful in keeping the businesses goals and visions real. And I think one way to reward them, especially the sector will be experiencing this favorable condition, is to recognize their actions by the increase in their salaries. Aside from the effects among the people actually working in it, the projected higher sales can also affect the lives of those Filipinos who are still unemployed. Achieving the higher sale that is foreseen this year, companies should be more responsible and efficient in the work they produce. Because of the more projects that will be given by private sectors, cement companies will surely need to add workers. This action then gives opportunity for those unemployed ones to get their selves a decent job. This projected success doesnt have to be enjoyed only by those people currently involve in the business, as seen it can also be beneficial for those people outside of it, in this case, its even more for them.
