Are We Worthy to be Saved? And, What Dallas Willard Says About That.

He said, "I have been very jealous for the LORD, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away." 1Kings 19:10 Dallas Willard, a man who is respected in the Christian community should be listened to with discerning ears. He may be preaching a false gospel. I used to believe strongly in the Christian faith, but now I think that there are many ways to see the world, and that, just because they differ, doesnt mean they are right or wrong. Dallas Willard Willard was once interviewed and was asked how he would answer a person who might ask him the following question: But I still struggle with how I should view those who have other beliefs. Im not sure I am ready to condemn them as wrong. I know some very good Buddhists. What is their destiny? Willard said: I would take her to Romans 2:6-10: God will give to each person according to what he has done. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. What Paul is clearly saying is that if anyone is worthy of being saved, they will be saved. At that point many Christians get very anxious, saying that absolutely no one is worthy of being saved. The implication of that is that a person can be almost totally good, but miss the message about Jesus, and be sent to hell. What kind of a God would do that? I am not going to stand in the way of anyone whom God wants to save. I am not going to say he cant save them. I am happy for God to save anyone he wants in any way he can. It is possible for someone who does not know Jesus to be saved. But anyone who is going to be saved is going to be saved by Jesus: There is no other name given under heaven by which men can be saved.

Notice his words: It is possible for someone who does not know Jesus to be saved. Really? Listen to this: It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Romans 3:26 It is through faith in Jesus and His atoning, substitutionary death in our place that we are justified and pronounced saved. No where else. there are many ways to see the world, and that, just because they differ, doesnt mean they are right or wrong. Willard

Really? According to Romans 8:39, The love of God from which we cannot be separated is in Jesus Christ. This means it is found nowhere else. But Jesus answered them, "You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. Matthew 22:29 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. Romans 10:3 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. Romans 3:22 All attempts to become righteous apart from the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus are wrong. What Paul is clearly saying is that if anyone is worthy of being saved, they will be saved Willard Really? I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants."' Luke 15:19 Our appropriate attitude is unworthiness. Dallas Willard does not seem to understand this, and as a result mey be leading people astray from the truth. but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neitherMarry nor are given in marriage, Luke 20:35 There is a state of worthiness which we can attain to. It is reached by faith in Jesus, it is not something we are apart from Him even he who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie." John 1:27 Even John, whom Jesus in Matthew 11:11 called the greatest in The Kingdom recognized his unworthiness. What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews andGreeks, are under sin, as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeksfor God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one." Romans 3:9-12 Sin rendered all of us unworthy of The Kingdom. :..but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 For if while we were enemies we ere reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Romans 5:10 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to Justification and life for all men. Romans 5:18 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who doesnot have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body

is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. Romans 8:9,10 Remember when Moses came down the mountain with the 10 commandments? What did the people say? "Yeah, we can do that!" - What if instead they had said, "OH NO. Woe is us. We can't do that!! We're doomed! God have mercy on us! Save us." I bet Paul would never have had to write Romans 9:30-10:4. That speaks of the Israelites failing to understand Gods righteousness. Galatians would never have had to be written that battled legalism the belief that we can do it No, if Israel had recognized their unworthiness and helplessness and cried to God for mercy instead of saying we can do it, they may have heard God say right there, "Well done" and been ushered directly into the land of milk & honey. Lets rightly divide the word of truth and be aware of teachers who do not.
