oyal Lawns of America,

Inc., has been in business
for over 40 years and is
now in its second generation.
Michael Miller took over the
Wayne-based business from his
father and has continued to pro-
vide the community with the
same fine services that are in tune
with the environment.
The owner-operated, owner-
on-site business offers customers
the benefit of paying one price for
the whole year, and there are no
special contracts. As Michael
puts it: My work speaks for
itself.
He treats present problems
with methods that are environ-
mentally friendly. Im as close to
organic as I can be, he said.
Among the services are aeration,
seeding, fertilizing, weed control,
insect control, liming, fungus
control, and IPM (integrated pest
management). More detail about
each service follows.
AERATION: To keep your lawn
healthy, it should be aerated at
least twice a year. The Royal
Lawns aeration techniques allow
air, light, water and nutrients to
penetrate your lawn, promoting
root growth and helping to
decompose organically an exces-
sive thatch layer more rapidly.
Re-Seeding: Areas of the
lawn that have been damaged or
neglected can be renewed by re-
seeding. We use quality disease-
resistant blends of bluegrass, fes-
cue, and rye grasses especially
selected for your lawns environ-
ment, improving the appearance
and density of your turf. This, in
turn, helps inhibit weed growth,
said Michael.
FERTILIZER (GRANULAR):
A thriving lawn requires properly
timed applications of complete,
balanced, slow-release fertilizers
to replace essential nutrients
taken from the soil. The fertilizers
used by Royal Lawns are designed
to feed your lawn from one serv-
ice to the next, and there is no
surge growth or burning just
steady greening and a thicker,
more beautiful lawn.

T
he U.S. domestic stock
market has rebounded
off its 2009 low quite
nicely over the last few weeks,
but should this be interpreted
as the end of the Bear Market
and the beginning of the next
Bull Market cycle? (What the
experts call a temporary Bear
Market rally.)
One economist, Harry
Dent, is predicting the Dow
Jones Industrial Average will
fall to a low of 3,800, while oth-
ers are espousing a low of 5,500.
Others are predicting we have
entered a new Bull Market
cycle, looking for a return to
14,000 and beyond. Wouldnt
it be nice to know which phi-
losophy will be correct and be
able to profit from it? Alas, this
is not the case, but there might
be a close second opportunity:
a variable annuity with a living
benefit rider that guarantees
your retirement income for the
rest of your life, and your
spouses life, too! In addition,
there is a guaranteed death
benefit and the opportunity to
increase it, as well as myriad
investment choices and disci-
plines.
Let me phrase this differ-
ently. If you desire all the
attributes of being invested in
the stock market with the
added benefit of being able to
periodically lock-in the good
years, while simultaneously
protecting the income that
your initial investment or
what it grows to can produce,

The virtue of variable annuities By Mark Charnet
The following is a reprint of this column from April 2009 that is as pertinent today as it was when it originally ran four years ago. Please read and consider the facts presented for
your portfolio both then and now. Ask yourself if you would be better off with the investment strategy presented here than your current retirement portfolio allocation (wherever
it might be). If, after reading, the answer is yes, contact me using the information at the end of the article.
continued on next page
out of money, would you be
interested in learning more
about it?
Of course you would!
Have you heard about a
variable annuity with a living
benefit rider yet? Yes? Then I
must assume a large portion of
your growth-oriented retire-
ment portfolio is invested in
this manner. No? Then that
explains why you have no vari-
able annuity in your portfolio,
as you havent learned about all
of the benefits yet, including
why utilizing this fine invest-
ment vehicle and the protec-
tion it provides might be the
best financial decision you will
ever make.
Imagine the opportunity
to lock in the highest anniver-
sary value to determine your
pension-like income for the
rest of your life. Imagine the
opportunity for that income to
increase if the market rises, but
if your account value falls due
to negative market perform-
ance, the income you receive
will never be reduced or reach
an end. Add to that the ability
to liquidate the account for any
reason to get the surrender
value back. Go even further
and add the ability to have
multi-management talent striv-
ing for superior rates of return
from many different invest-
ment firms, all in one invest-
ment product, simultaneously.
This form of investment prod-
uct, called a variable annuity,
exists today. Its a long-term
investment vehicle designed
specifically for retirement.
While variable annuities are
subject to market risk and fluc-
tuation in account value, they
may also offer several optional
protection features not found
in other investment vehicles,
such as a guaranteed rising
withdrawal base even in peri-
ods of declining stock and
bond prices.
Investing in mutual funds
or individual stocks and bonds,
without the protection of a liv-
ing benefit rider as described
above, is like owning a home
without homeowners insur-
ance coverage. After all, if you
have no mortgage, no one
forces you to purchase home-
owners insurance. Yet a home-
owner with no insurance is a
deep-sea diver without an
oxygen tank.
Many critics of variable
annuities complained of high
fees in certain contracts. We
dont hear much from those
pundits and their argument
any longer after a 45 percent
drop in the domestic stock
market, where recent variable
annuity participants share the
benefits of income and death
benefit protection available
nowhere else in the investing
community.
More exciting is that this
variable annuity concept can
be improved upon when con-
sidered as a part of the Trinity
Method of Investing, what all

P
eople are very con-
scious of their diet,
health, mental well
being, physical fitness, and
appearance. When patients
come to my office, they often
are concerned and say, I
dont like my smile.
There are very specific
and definite components of
your smile. The subjective
your feelings and attitude
and objective actual facts
issues must both be consid-
ered when evaluating your
smile. Below are 14 standard
questions that may help your
decision to have dental work.
Each no answer needs an
explanation.
1. Are you pleased with
the general appearance of
your teeth and smile?
2. Are your teeth straight?
3. Are there spaces between
your front teeth that you dis-
like?
4. Are you satisfied with the
color of your teeth?
5. Are you satisfied with the
shape of your teeth?
6. Are any of your teeth
chipped, hidden, or protrud-
ing?
7. Are you satisfied with the
way your teeth come togeth-
er (bite)?
8. Are your gums puffy, red,
or swollen? Do they bleed
easily?
9. Do you have old fillings or
dental work that you think
would look much better
white?
10. Do you have any jagged
teeth that you think are too
long or too short?
11. Do you have missing
teeth that make chewing dif-
ficult?
12. Do you frequently bite
the inside of your cheek
while chewing food?
13. What would you most
like to change about the
appearance of your teeth?
14. How would you like you
teeth to look?
In our office, we will
review questions like these
together to determine the
best treatment options to
create the beautiful and con-
fident smile you envision and
deserve. Call today.

S
pring is here and we will
find ourselves spending
more time outdoors.
While outside, however, you
could be harming your eyes
from exposure to the sun. Are
you protecting your eyes from
the suns damaging rays?
Many people have heard
about an eye disease called
cataracts, but are unaware
what they are and what they
can do.
A cataract is a clouding
of the normally clear crys-
talline lens of the eye. This
prevents the lens from proper-
ly focusing light on the retina
at the back of the eye, result-
ing in a loss of vision.
Symptoms of cataracts are
cloudy or blurry vision, poor
night vision, glare, double
vision and reduced color sen-
sitivity. Most cataracts devel-
op in people over age 55, but
they occasionally occur in
infants and young children.
As we become older, a chemi-
cal change within the eye
causes the lens to become
cloudy. However, other factors
that may contribute to
cataracts are excessive expo-
sure to ultraviolet radiation
from sunlight, certain medica-
tions and cigarette smoking.
Usually cataracts develop in
both eyes, but one may be
worse than the other.
A yearly eye exam is
important in detecting early
cataracts and is important in
monitoring the progression for
those who have already been
diagnosed. Polarized sunglass-
es and wide-brimmed hats are
important to help to prevent
exposure to ultraviolet light.
Anti-reflective coatings on
glasses may help those with
cataracts who experience
glare at night. A change in
eyeglass prescription may pro-
vide some improvement in
vision for those with early
cataracts. Increasing the
amount of light used when
reading may also be beneficial.
For patients whose cataracts
are mature and have affected
their quality of life, cataract
surgery would be an option.
Your eye doctor can discuss
with you the different types of
cataract surgery options and
what would be your potential
benefits and risks. Cataracts
are only one of the many eye
diseases that can be detected
during a routine eye exam, so
it is important that you sched-
ule an appointment today.

Indoor cycling, better
known as spinning, is an aero-

designed to build strength and
endurance while burning up to
500 calories an hour. Spinning
is great exercise for every fitness
level and for people of all ages.
Spinning is a great, fun work-

that the music helps push them
through each class.
These classes are small,
generally coordinated with
popular and motivating music,
and do not require a lot of coor-
dination. Its just like riding
your standard outdoor bicycle.
Spin bikes have the ability to
adjust the amount of resistance
used so you can determine what
level of intensity you wish to
use during the class. This is
helpful to those with cardiovas-

even more difficult when you
are caught by surprise. In that
spirit, Dorson Home Care
would like to provide you with
10 tips that will help both you
and your loved one prepare for
that time.
1. Ensure a clean, uncluttered
living space. Cleanliness is
essential for controlling the
spread of diseases and odors. So
it is vital to clean bathrooms
and bedrooms, empty waste
baskets daily, keep surrounding
floors spotless, and maintain
clean bed linens and personal
belongings. Ensure there are no
loose rugs in traffic
areas to prevent accidents and
falls. A clean environment will
ensure your loved ones feel
good about themselves!
2. Provide adequate gen-
eral and task lighting.
General lighting
provides overall
illumination,
allowing a per-
son to see and
move around
safely. Sunlight
is a common
source of general
lighting. Usually the
general light provided by an
uncovered window is supple-
mented by light from a ceiling
fixture. Task lighting directs
allows you to be in perfect
alignment so the joints in the
legs are protected.
Pace and intensity are
also up to the individual to
decide. You can stroll along at
a steady, easy going, flat-road
pace, enjoy rolling hills or
push yourself to the limit in a
high speed race if you choose.
Cedar Crest residents who try
the class say they love being
able to cycle again.

the finest retirement income,
estate preservation and portfo-
lio protection plan in the mar-
ketplace today! This concept is
unique and available only
through your local APG repre-
sentative.
In my experience, every
retiree or near-term retiree
craves these five attributes for
their portfolio: income for life,
safety of principal, liquidity,
tax-advantages and growth of
capital. If your retirement plan
falls short in any of these areas,
you owe it to yourself to learn
how the Trinity Method of
Investing will enable you to
guarantee income for the rest
of your life, while simultane-
ously preserving, protecting
and perpetuating your portfo-
lio and wealth to your loved
ones its as simple as that!
If you wouldnt consider
owning a home without home-
owners insurance, why would
you consider having your port-
folio without portfolio income
protection insurance? For
some, their portfolio is worth
more than their home and to
leave either unprotected would
be disastrous in the event of
a mishap or a catastrophe.
Wouldnt you agree? If so, call
me today to schedule an
appointment to discuss it. It
might be the best financial
move you ever make!
All guarantees are based
on the claims paying ability
of the insurance companies
selected.

F
or Christians, the origin
of Easter is simply the
crucifixion and resurrec-
tion of Jesus Christ about 2,000
years ago. According to the
Gospel accounts, Jesus Christ,
the Messiah promised in the
Old Testament, was crucified
and resurrected at the time of
the Jewish Passover. Since that
awesome event took place,
those who believe Christ is
their Messiah have honored
that day and often celebrated it
with the traditional Passover.
As the Gospel of Christ spread
throughout non-Jewish na-
tions, among people who did
not have a history of celebrat-
ing the Passover, the pagan
rites of Easter gradually became
assimilated into what the
Christian church called
Resurrection Day. Comp-
romising the commandments
of God with the comfort of the
world is as old as the nation of
Israel itself. Actually,
American history teaches us
that Easter was dismissed as a
pagan holiday by the nations
founding Puritans and did not
begin to be widely observed
until just after the Civil War.
Easter is the event upon
which the entire Christian
faith hinges. When Christ was
born, He fulfilled a number of
Old Testament prophecies
concerning the Messiah. By
the time of His crucifixion, res-
urrection and ascension, He
had fulfilled more than 300 of
them. These numbers alone
provide staggering evidence
that Jesus Christ was the prom-
ised Messiah. So it is with good
reason that Christians the
world over regard Easter as a
very special event. But in the
early days of the church, most
Christians were Jewish con-
verts. Because Jesus was cruci-
fied and rose again during the
Passover season, their celebra-
tion of Christs resurrection
was acknowledged during that
annual observance of the deliv-
erance from bondage in Egypt.
Christian Jews (or Messianic
Jews) consider the Passover to
be symbolic of the time when
Christ set all believers free
from the penalty of sin
(through His death on the
cross) and death (through His
resurrection from the dead).
As Christ was cruci-
fied and resurrected during
Passover week. Christ is
believed by Christians to actu-
ally be the Passover Lamb spo-
ken of in Exodus, for He
Himself became the perfect,
sinless sacrifice for the sins of
all people. Jews who chose to
follow Christ then honored
this day in succeeding years
during the Passover season,
but as Christianity was spread
throughout non-Christian na-
tions, the celebration of Easter
was gradually combined with
pagan rites of spring tradi-
tions. Modern celebrations are
the result of this compromise.
At the same time, Easter is
often the only day that many
people attend church and are
introduced to the Good
News of Jesus Christ.

ld age happens. Our
dogs are no exception.
As our dogs become
senior citizens, their physical
and mental capabilities change.
Their needs change, too. Being
aware of these changes and
knowing what to expect will
help your pets golden years be
happy and comfortable.
Some common changes
that you may expect to see in
your senior dog are: loss of
hearing or vision, decreased
activity, weight gain, changes
in skin or fur, dental disease,
more sensitive stomach, lumps
and bumps, or even demen-
tia. These changes dont hap-
pen at the same time for all
dogs because in general,
smaller breeds live longer
than larger dogs. A good rule
of thumb is that, on average,
a dog is considered a senior at
seven years of age.
Senior dogs may act dif-
ferently and may require differ-
ent care, but age is not a dis-
ease. These dogs arent lost
causes and minimal effort can
add years to their lives. The
main focus should be on pre-
vention. Whenever possible, it
is better and less costly to pre-
vent a problem from occurring,
rather than to wait for a prob-
lem to develop. Detecting dis-
eases in their early stages great-
ly improves the outcome.
Advancements in veterinary
medicine have kept our pets
alive longer, healthier
and happier. If there is
a problem with your
dog, dont assume that
its just because it is
old and that nothing
can be done. With the
appropriate treatment,
which can be simple
and non-invasive,
many conditions can improve.
Geriatric care for your dog
and prevention begins with
routine visits to your veterinar-
ian. Most pets visit their veteri-
narian once a year, but it is rec-
ommended that senior pets be
seen every six months. This is
mainly because dogs age
approximately seven times
faster than we and early detec-
tion of problems is key.
After taking a thorough
medical history, noting changes
in behavior and physical abili-
ties, your veterinarian may per-
form several procedures to
assess and maintain a healthy
senior dog. These might
include a complete physical
examination, early detection
blood work and urinalysis, aspi-
ration of any new lumps or
bumps, x-rays, glaucoma
checks and blood pressure
checks.
Based on the veterinari-
ans findings, treatment options
and care can be discussed. One
of the most important aspects is
nutrition. In general, a high-
quality senior food is recom-
mended once your dog reaches
seven years of age, but there
may be very individual nutri-
tional needs. The best food to
feed depends on the specific
problems or nutritional
requirements of the individual
animal. For instance, obesity is
a very common problem of
older animals and will shorten
their lifespan. A lower calo-

rie/higher fiber diet would be

for dogs with GI disorders, kid-
ney or liver disease, arthritis,
skin problems, etc.
Home care is also essen-
tial. Close observation of any
changes in mobility, drinking
and eating should be noted and
reported to your veterinarian
early. Potential problems may
also be uncovered by getting
your hands on your pet to
inspect them periodically.
Feed a good-quality dog
food that is appropriate for
your dogs specific needs. Do
not allow your pet to gain
excessive weight, which is
very common when your sen-
ior dogs metabolism slows
down and they dont exercise
as much. It can make them
more prone to arthritis, heart
disease and diabetes. Follow
your veterinarians recommen-
dations as to exercise, nutrition
and any medications that may
be needed.
Our senior dogs may not
be able to do what they used
to but with a little prevention
and early detection they can
still live happy, fulfilling lives
and remain our wonderful
companions.

I
s your yard ready for an
abundant spring? While
light pruning and removal
of dead wood can really be
done at any time, March and
April is your prime time to
get your trimming done.
With the majority of the cold
months behind us, now is the
time to get started! Gro-Rite
in Lincoln Park has the
information you need to
watch your garden explode
with life and color.
Some pre-Spring garden-
ing tasks can be accomplished
during the late part of the win-
ter, but in the case of pruning
and trimming it is best to let
the coldest months of winter
pass to avoid sap spillage
(called bleeding). However,
it is still important to take care
of the task while the plant or
shrub is dormant to ensure
proper growth before spring
comes in full swing. While
many pruning practices are to
simply promote growth,
others are to encourage
flowering. If your pur-
pose is to promote flow-
ering, it is best to prune
those trees when the
flowers fade after
spring. The result will
be an abundant new growth in
the spring. For more informa-
tion on the best possible prun-
ing and trimming practices, the
right tools for the job, and even
ready-to-plant flowers, shrubs
and trees, visit Gro-Rite at 30
Hillview Avenue in Lincoln
Park. Gro-Rite has been the
areas premier family-owned
greenhouse and gardening cen-
ter, bragging endless variety
and excellent customer service.

and trimming, visit Gro-Rite

ization programs there are gar-
dening supplies, herbs, flowers,

lime increases the granulation
of soil, improving its physical
structure and air-to-water
ratio, helping your lawn toler-
ate drought conditions.
Liming increases the avail-
ability of many plant nutri-
ents, making fertilizers more
effective and helping to
reduce weeds by creating con-
ditions more favorable to grass
growth.
FUNGUS CONTROL:
Since fungus problems are
derived mostly from weather
conditions, maintaining a
strong lawn through treat-
ment, watering and proper
mowing makes your lawn
more naturally resistant to
fungus problems. However, in
appropriate conditions, fungi-
cides may be used to help
reduce damage caused by cell
deterioration from fungus.
IPM: The most serious threats
to a beautiful lawn are weeds,
disease and insects. Because of
the variety and the diversity
of appropriate treatments,
they are most difficult to con-
trol. Royal Lawns provides
expert weed and pest controls,
using only Environment
Protection Agency approved
materials that are scientifical-
ly tested to be effective. Being
concerned with the environ-
ment, Royal Lawns uses only
minimal amounts where need-
ed to maintain control.

S
ince Hurricanes Irene
and Sandy, have you
been asking yourself if
now is the time to buy flood
insurance? Flood insurance is
not as expensive as you may
think and is dependent on
where you live. For as little as
$129 a year, you can have an
annual policy providing piece
of mind while protecting your
home.
You can learn more
about a policy like this at the
Coverage Specialists open
house on Saturday, April 13.
On this day, American
Strategic Insurance will host
two free workshops at 11am
and 1pm. ASIs national
trainer, accompanied by
flood-specific underwriters,
will provide information
about flood insurance and
whether or not its right for
you. The workshop will also
let you know how much
insurance is necessary, and
how to save money on premi-
ums so that you get the best
value possible.
With the upcoming
changes to the FEMA flood
map, people are going to have
questions, said Walter Zem,
agency owner. We felt a
workshop like this would help
provide some much needed
answers to the general public
in an informal setting.
There is no charge to
attend our open house.
Theres nothing to sign. Just
come in, have something to
eat and drink, and have some
of your questions answered by
a flood expert. Youll also be
able to meet our staff and
chat with representatives
from national carriers like
America Strategic, MetLife
Auto and Home, Mercury
Insurance Group, Progressive,
and NJ Skylands. Bring a
copy of your policy if you
would like a comparative
quote.

Quinoa is a whole grain
from the Andes that's rich in
fiber and amino acids and
prized for its high protein con-
tent. The popularity of quinoa
continues to grow, possibly
because it cooks quickly, is
high in protein and fiber and
is loaded with nutrients.
Quinoa is perfect on its
own, and also works well as a
base for other dishes. Try this
recipe, courtesy of Jerilyn
Brusseau and American
Roland Food Corp.
Red Quinoa With Jicama,
Red Pepper and Lime
Crisp slivers of jicama
and red pepper complement
the nutty flavor of red quinoa,
balanced with fresh lime juice
and a hint of cumin. Cooking
tip: Quinoa is done when you
see it begin to open.
~ 1 cup Roland Red Quinoa
~ 2 cups water plus 1/4
teaspoon salt
~ 1/2 jicama, medium size,
cut in thin 1-inch slivers
~ 3/4 red pepper, cut in thin
1-inch diagonal slivers
~ 4 tablespoons fresh
cilantro, chopped
~ 3 tablespoons fresh lime
juice
~ 1 tablespoon extra virgin
olive oil
~ 2 teaspoon lime zest
~ 1/2 teaspoon honey
~ Pinch of cayenne and
pinch of cumin
~ 1/4 teaspoon sea salt and
freshly ground black
pepper to taste
Place 2 cups of water in a
saucepan and bring to a boil.
Add teaspoon salt. Add
Roland Red Quinoa and
reduce to simmer. Cover
saucepan. Cook until all liq-
uid is absorbed, about 15 min-
utes. Remove from heat and
let stand 20 minutes, covered.
Fluff with fork.
In a medium-sized mix-
ing bowl, combine jicama, red
pepper and cilantro. Make a
dressing of the lime juice,
olive oil, honey, cayenne,
cumin, salt, pepper, and lime
zest. Pour dressing over veg-
etables and let stand a few
minutes.
Mound quinoa on a serv-
ing platter or individual
plates. Spoon vegetable mix-
ture over quinoa, leaving a
visible border of red quinoa
around the plate. Garnish
with additional cilantro if
desired. Serve immediately or
allow to chill 2 to 3 hours (or
overnight). Salad will become
crisp and cool.

provided by a fixture mounted
over the head of the bed.
3. Keep a clean and user-friend-
ly kitchen. Counter tops should
be cleared of any unnecessary
objects. Keep food preparation
areas clean. Store utensils, pots
and pans in the same place so
loved ones will remember
where to find them.
4. Maintain sufficient food and
medical supplies. Always keep
an adequate supply of food in
home to ensure proper health
and wellness. Keep inventory
of medical supplies and refills.
5. Provide easy and safe access
to bathrooms. Bathrooms
should be wheelchair accessi-
ble, if applicable. Grab bars
should be installed on the walls
by the toilet and bathtub for
balance and prevention of falls.
6. Buy a comfortable bed
with adjustable settings. An
adjustable bed will help your
loved ones get in and out of bed
easily and can be positioned in
a variety of ways to keep them
comfortable. Sometimes the
doctor may order a specific
position if your loved one has
recently undergone back or
spinal surgery, or simply to
encourage blood flow to the
heart if their blood pressure is
very low.
7. Make your home wheelchair
accessible, if applicable. A
wheelchair ramp should be
installed. All travel pathways
throughout the home need to
be kept clear. Doorways and
hallways must have a minimum
clearance of 32 inches wide.
Also, ensure at least one door
in the home is designated and
set up as an emergency exit for
the wheelchair user.
8. Invest in an efficient med-
ical alert system. In case of an
emergency, such as a fall, heart
attack or diabetic event, it is
vital that your loved one can
readily call for help!
9. Establish an easy-to-use
communication system to stay
in touch with family and
friends. A telephone book or
user-friendly mobile device is
helpful for contacting family
and friends.
10. Establish a backup system
for unexpected events. In the
event of an emergency or natu-
ral disaster, make sure there are
emergency flashlights, emer-
gency food and medical sup-
plies, and alternative living
arrangements.
Being well prepared for
home care is beneficial to
many families and helps to
reduce everyday living costs.

appears to be more cost
effective than assisted liv-

Expert tips on preparing your loved one for home care
$280 to $375 for a full wine
batch of 28 bottles, so from $10
to about $13.50 for the very
best wines.
Michele explains how the
process works. The customer
comes in. We have a full com-
plimentary wine tasting bar, so
they can taste several wines
before they select which wine
to make. Then the wine mak-
ing is completed in three one-
hour sessions over 6 to 8
weeks. When its ready to
drink, customers will have 28
standard-size bottles of wine
that theyve created them-
selves. Customers also create
their own custom wine bottle
labels- a great option for
holiday or wedding gifts.
Customers are welcome to
bring wine snacks to enjoy dur-
ing their wine making sessions.
Wines made within the
store are much different than
wine bought in regular shops
because there are fewer sul-
fites and preservatives.
Preserv-atives are used to
extend the shelf life of wines
for years. Without these addi-
tives, wines made at Your
Own Winery have a shelf life
of 18-24 months but addi-
tional preservatives can be
added if the customer wishes
to age their wine for a longer
period, although all varieties
are great to drink within 6
months, most immediately
after bottling.
Michele suggested that
the wines are great for gift-giv-
ing and can be put in smaller
quarter- and half-size bottles
to be distributed as favors at
bridal and baby showers, or
any other special event. And
Your Own Winery is a perfect
and new venue for your next
birthday, anniversary, wedding
party, corporate team-building
or organizational event.

Q
uest i on:
Why are
h i g h e r
auto limits neces-
sary in your auto
policy, especially
here in New Jersey?
Answer:
State minimums, or
15/30 Bodily Injury,
is what far too
many drivers par-
take in. It enables you to have
the required coverage to keep a
car on the road, and possibly
pay for cuts and bruises other
drivers sustain in an accident if
youre at fault. Yet, what hap-
pens when the victim was driv-
ing a minivan with half the
soccer team in the second and
third row seats? If little Bobby
ends up at UMDNJ and
requires surgery to repair his
broken arm and wrist, the
$15,000 per person will quickly
dissolve and the rest of the
medical expenses still must be
covered. The insurance compa-
ny has met its obligation, so
can you guess where the rest of
the $27,000 total cost will
come from? The unknowing
will venture to think: If I dont
have it, they cant take it.
Well, here in NJ, your future
wages can and will be garnished
till this claim is settled.
In this instance, that
minivan contained half the
soccer team. What if Jodys and
Cindys parents realize their
two young children have
whiplash and also decide to sue
for damages? That $30,000 per
accident wont be enough
either. Now were talking
exhausting the savings youve
tucked away for the college
funds of your own kids, who
werent even pres-
ent for the accident.
The best
option for maxi-
mum protection is
an umbrella policy
usually providing $1
million in protec-
tion. Other higher
limits are 100/300,
250/500, and 500/
500. My advice is
simple: dont look for the least
expensive policy; it can easily
become the most costly. Ask to
be educated on how best to
protect the livelihood and
lifestyle you adore.

surance is your local agent, seek-
