ABSOLUTE STEEL QUALITY ENGINEERING AND STAINLESS STEELS

ABS COMPANY POLICY AND KEY ISSUES

STRATEGY Production of quality steels according to the specific process routes: ingot casting, continuous casting of big sections, forging-rolling of big sizes in niche products. Rolling of billets into precision bars and bar-in-coil, finished, heat treated and ND-tested for the major OEMs and SBQ users. Continuous enhancement of quality and technical skill in order to be cost-competitive and provide a foundation for further future growth. Full commitment to safety and environment-friendly operations and technologies assuring a healthy and safe work environment to encourage a responsible and disciplined working attitude. Promotion and recycling of by-products in order to minimize the impact on the micro and macro environment. Control of environmental performances in order to limit hazardous emissions, waste and noise. The strong connection between management and direct operative production group provides ABS with the driving force to pursue the given targets. PRODUCTION Production capacity of over 1 Mtpy of quality steel in one site for more effective control and performances. Short process chain for better lead times and quality-effective results according to specific product requirements. People passion for steel and company commitment to total quality allow ABS to use the motto: ABS-Absolute Steel Quality.

ABS produces up to 1,000 mm round and square forged bars, supplied as forged, heat treated, turned, grinded, according to customer technical specifications.

Continuous product monitoring and accurate NDT inspection through the latest technologies available on the market.

Special steels and special products: carbon and alloyed steel ingots, up to 168 t (polygonal ingots) for the most demanding applications.

ABS IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY ENGINEERING STEEL GRADES FOR FINAL PRODUCTS WITH DEMANDING APPLICATIONS, IN A CLIENT-ORIENTED GLOBAL MARKET.

ABS PRODUCES ONE OF THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE RANGES OF SIZES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF ENGINEERING STEEL PRODUCTS IN EUROPE.

QUALITY SYSTEM

ABS standard process routes enables the fulfillment of specific customer requirements for any industrial application. Such procedures are continuously upgraded, based on the customer feedback, in order to better respond to -and even anticipate- the most demanding customer needs. The evaluation of customer needs and the selection of the most suitable process routes for the order are part of a practice which identifies the material route in the progressive phases (scrap blending, melting, LF metallurgy, VD, shrouded casting, controlled steel stream regulation, rolling and inspection) to be continuously kept under control. At the end of the production cycle, prior to dispatching, the material undergoes testing to verify and certify that required properties are met.

The above process organization has allowed us to reach the prescribed operative and quality assurance standards. Team work, process costs and yield are continuously and thoroughly monitored in order to lead employees to focus on the quality of their jobs. This means professional commitment and motivation towards quality and customer service. Continuous process control aims at preventing defects and taking prompt corrective actions if a problem should arise. Increased assistance and service and quick reaction to Customer needs is a must. A well-equipped technical lab enables for process and product control and development. Housekeeping helps to promote a safe working environment.

The continuous research of innovative products together with the unique dimensional range and quality grades of the products supplied, allows ABS to serve all the market sectors where the use of top quality basic material is mandatory. Today, among the numerous products, ABS supplies: quenched and tempered steels, case hardening steels, creep resistant grades, forging steels, free-cutting steels, nitriding steels, engineering steels, improved machinability grades for: automotive, earth move, gas cylinders, bearings, drill collars, wind energy sector, railways, defense industry, springs, nuclear power generation, piping, grinding media. New major investments will enable ABS to further grow in the energy and automotive sectors, still in a sustainable way.
