Proficiency levels of Turkish language ARTICLE 14- (1) Proficiency levels of Turkish language are stated below: C1,

C2 Level: Students level of Turkish language is adequate. Student can start receiving education. B1, B2 Level: Students level of Turkish language can improve in a short span of time. Student can start receiving education, but he/she should take Turkish courses. Student must increase his/her level of proficiency of Turkish language to C1, C2 until the graduation. A1, A2 Level: Students level of Turkish language is inadequate. Apart from the ones applying to programmes offering foreign language education, prospective students after having their final registration to the programme where they are accepted shall be granted 1year leave of absence and shall take Turkish language courses and increase their level of this language to C1,C2 or B1,B2, then they can start their education. (2) Their Turkish language levels shall be determined according to Turkish Language Proficiency Test results made by the Turkish Language Department under University Rectorate. (3) Prospective students whose Turkish language levels are B1, B2 and A1, A2 shall be given Turkish Language Proficiency Test by our University at the end of the first week of their education. (4) The ones who have B1, B2 and A1, A2 Turkish language levels and have been registered to the departments with foreign language preparatory programmes shall start receiving education; however they are to increase their Turkish language levels to C1, C2. Students having successfully completed their education but could not provide a document showing that their Turkish language levels are C1, C2 shall not graduate from the programme until they could. (5) Students with A1, A2 Turkish language proficiency levels shall be resolved to be granted 1-year of absence in their departments/programmes by the relevant boards. After one year, students who have got C1, C2 or B1, B2 levels of Certificate of Turkish Language Proficiency shall submit their certificates to the Student Affairs Office before the academic year. Students who cannot submit C1, C2 or B1, B2 levels of Certificate of Turkish Language Proficiency after one year or students who fail in Turkish Language Proficiency Exam to be made by our University shall be dismissed with the University. (6) Equivalency of the certificates of Turkish language proficiency taken from other institutions by the students shall be determined by the Rectorate Department of Turkish Language.
