UninstallColorProfilesRollback error | CS4 | Windows


Issue
When you install Adobe Creative Suite 4 or CS4 point products on Windows, the installation completes with errors. The following error appears in the More Info dialog box: UninstallColorProfilesRollback.E35C3ECB_5FDA_49E1_AB1F_D472B7CB9017 (Adobe) -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- BEGIN Adobe_UninstallColorProfiles -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- (Adobe) UninstallColorProfiles - MSIRUNMODE_ROLLBACK (Adobe) Requesting property: CustomActionData (Adobe) Property cannot be retrieved (Adobe) No Color Profiles to manipulate (Adobe) -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- END - Adobe_UninstallColorProfiles -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Removing ODBC components Updating component registration Message type: 2, Argument: 1 Message type: 2, Argument: 1 Action ended 13:52:26: INSTALL. Solutions
Important : These solutions require that you have administrator access. If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, then the operating system could prompt you to enter the name and password of an administrator user account. If you use Windows XP, then log in to your computer using an administrator account before you begin. If you do not have administrator access privileges, then contact your system administrator for assistance in completing these solutions.

Solution 1: Remove the current Adobe color profiles.


1. Close all applications. 2. Create a folder on your Desktop called System Color Profiles. To do so, right-click on the Desktop, select New > Folder, type System Color Profiles, and then press Enter. 3. Navigate in Windows Explorer to C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color. 4. In the color folder, select all of the files (CTRL + A), and then Cut them (CTRL + X). 5. Open the System Color Profiles folder on your Desktop. 6. Paste the profiles (CTRL + V) into this folder. Note: If you are unable to move one or more profiles, then the system is using them and you can skip them. 7. Navigate in Windows Explorer to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles. 8. In the Profiles folder, select all of the files (CTRL + A), and then delete them. 9. Reinstall your Adobe Creative Suite 4 or CS4 point product. If the reinstallation failed with the same error in the More Info dialog, proceed to Solution 2. If the reinstallation failed with a different error, see Using the Adobe Support Advisor (TechNote kb405816) for assistance in resolving the issue. If the reinstallation completes successfully, restore any missing profiles that you moved in Step 6 by following the steps near the bottom of this document.

Solution 2: Update registry keys.


Follow the instructions for your operating system. Disclaimer : This procedure involves modifying the Windows registry. Adobe doesn't provide support for problems caused by improperly modifying the registry, which contains critical information about your system's hardware and software. Before modifying the registry, create a backup of the registry. For more information about the registry, see the documentation in Windows or contact Microsoft. Update registry keys on Windows XP


1. Close all applications. 2. Choose Start > Run, type regedit in the Open box, and press Enter. The Registry Editor opens. 3. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\PDF Admin Settings

4. Select the PDF Admin Settings key in the left pane of the Registry Editor. 5. Save a backup of this key: Choose File > Export, enter a filename and location, and click Save. 6. Right-click PDF Admin Settings and choose Permissions. 7. Verify that the Administrators and System groups are present, and that Full Control is selected under the Allow column. 8. Click Advanced. 9. In the Owner tab of the Advanced Security Settings For PDF Admin Settings dialog box, select the Administrators entry. Select Replace Owner On Subcontainers And Objects and click Apply. Note : If the Administrators group is not listed, then select the administrator account that you are currently logged in to. 10. Click the Permissions tab of the Advanced Security Settings For PDF Admin Settings dialog box. Select Replace Permission Entries On All Child Objects With Entries Shown Here That Apply To Child Objects. Then, click OK. 11. Click OK to close the Permissions For PDF Admin Settings dialog box. 12. Reinstall your Adobe Creative Suite 4 or CS4 point product.

Update registry keys on Windows Vista or Windows 7


Important: Click Allow or Continue in any User Account Control dialog boxes that are displayed during this process. 1. Close all applications. 2. Click Start, type regedit in the Search text field, and then press Enter. The Registry Editor opens. 3. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\PDF Admin Settings 4. Select the PDF Admin Settings key in the left pane of the Registry Editor. 5. Save a backup of this key: Choose File > Export, enter a filename and location, and click Save. 6. Right-click PDF Admin Settings and choose Permissions. 7. Verify that the Administrators and System groups are present, and that Full Control is selected under the Allow column. 8. Click Advanced. 9. In the Owner tab of the Advanced Security Settings For PDF Admin Settings dialog box, select the Administrators entry. Select Replace Owner On Subcontainers And Objects and click Apply. Note : If the Administrators group is not listed, then select the administrator account that you are currently logged in to. 10. Select Reset Permissions On All Child Objects And Enable Propagation Of Inheritable Permissions, and then click OK. 11. Click OK to close the Permissions For PDF Admin Settings dialog box. 12. Reinstall your Adobe Creative Suite 4 or CS4 point product.

Restore any missing color profiles.


Once you have successfully installed your Creative Suite 4 or CS4 point product, restore any missing profiles that you moved in Step 6 of Solution 1 above. 1. Open the System Color Profiles folder on your Desktop. 2. Select all of the files (CTRL + A), and then Copy them (CTRL + C). 3. Navigate in Windows Explorer to C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color. 4. Paste the profiles (CTRL + V) into this folder. 5. When you are prompted to overwrite files, select Skip, No, or No To All. This step ensures that only the latest color profiles are in this folder. 6. Delete the System Color Profiles folder on your Desktop.

Additional information
This error occurs when the access permissions for one or more Adobe color profiles, or for a related database in the Windows Registry, is set incorrectly. When the permissions are set incorrectly, the CS4 installer can't installing the new color profiles.
