Field: Kalderholt Geothermal Field. Location: South Iceland. Status: Finished project, 2005. Aim: Studying and evaluating the petrophysical and the mechanical properties of the fractured geothermal reservoir of the Kalderholt geothermal field. This research project was conducted during a postdoctoral fellowship in Iceland with the help of the geophysical department in ISOR and funded with UNU-GTP, Iceland. A] With Foreign Universities (Germany): (2) 1st Project: Field: Wadi XXX Field. Location: Western Desert, Egypt. Status: In progress project (Start, 2004). Aim: Studying the source rocks (A/R F Member) and the oilbearing reservoirs (A/R G Member, Baharyia) in Wadi ElRiyan Oil Field. Figuring the structural entrapment style of the possible oil traps. The borehole logging data, the seismic data, the geochemical analyses and the different maturity parameters are all integrated in this research project.

Joint Research Projects (In Progress):

One Ph.D. student is enrolled in this research project, in collaboration with Prof. Ralf Lattike (Director of the institute) RWTH Aachen University, Institute of Geology and Geochemistry of Petroleum and Coal, Aachen-Germany. 2nd Project: Field: West July Oil Field. Location: Southwest Gulf of Suez, Egypt. Status: In progress project (Start, 2004). Aim: Studying the seismic and sequence stratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous -Tertiary sequences in the Southwest area of the Gulf of Suez. An integrated facies analysis from well logging and the seismic data is conducted for the main oil-bearing reservoir in the area.
