CCMIT-BSCS participates in the 2013 International Conference on Information and Computer Networks (ICICN), Singapore Two BS Computer Science

senior students Mr. Marvin Rey G. Garcia and Ms. Hannah Roselle B. Chan together with their advisers Prof. Benilda Eleonor V. Comendador and Dr. Grant G. Cornell were invited to the 2013 International Conference on Information and Computer Networks (ICICN) to publish and present their paper entitled Smart Home Electricity Management System using Cloud Computing. The said conference was held at Quality Hotel, Singapore from January 19 to 20, 2013 and was organized by International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT). The idea of the said conference is for the scientists, scholars, engineers and students from the Universities all around the world and the industry to present ongoing research activities, and hence to foster research relations between the Universities and the industry. This conference provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences face to face, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration. Their paper was published in the Journal of Advances in Computer Networks (ISSN: 1793-8244 www.jacn.net), Volume 1. No. 1, January 2013 which is indexed by Engineering & Technology Library, EBSCO, Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, International Computer Science Digital Library (ICSDL), Google Scholar and Crossref. The 4 PUPian authors were glad to meet other delegates coming from different countries such as: Norway, South Korea, China, Taiwan, India, Kuwait, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, California, Australia and Malaysia. Companies such as Kuwait Oil Company and General Electric also participated with the event. The trip was a memorable experience for them which could possibly be a good prospect for collaboration on future IT projects and job opportunities for our graduates. Once again, PUP proved its international competency when it comes to researches. It is another achievement to be proud of.
