INTRODUCTION
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act passed by the Parliament in December, 1985. The Act (2 of 1986) came into effect from 13th February, 1986 by a notification issued in the Gazette of India: Extraordinary: Part-II [Sec. 3(ii): 13.2.1986). The Authority replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).

ASSIGNED FUNCTIONS In accordance with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985, (2 of 1986) the following functions have been assigned to the Authority.

Development of industries relating to the scheduled products for export by way of providing financial assistance or otherwise for undertaking surveys and feasibility studies, participation in enquiry capital through joint ventures and other reliefs and subsidy schemes; Registration of persons as exporters of the scheduled products on payment of such fees as may be prescribed; Fixing of standards and specifications for the scheduled products for the purpose of exports; Carrying out inspection of meat and meat products in slaughter houses, processing plants, storage premises, conveyances or other places where such products are kept or handled for the purpose of ensuring the quality of such products; Improving of packaging of the Scheduled products; Improving of marketing of the Scheduled products outside India; Promotion of export oriented production and development of the Scheduled products; Collection of statistics from the owners of factories or establishments engaged in the production, processing, packaging, marketing or export of the scheduled products or any matter relating to the scheduled

PRODUCTS MONITORED APEDA is mandated with the responsibility of export promotion and development of the following scheduled products: Fruits, Vegetables and their Products. Meat and Meat Products. Poultry and Poultry Products. Dairy Products.

Confectionery, Biscuits and Bakery Products. Honey, Jaggery and Sugar Products. Cocoa and its products, chocolates of all kinds. Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages. Cereal and Cereal Products. Groundnuts, Peanuts and Walnuts. Pickles, Papads and Chutneys. Guar Gum. Floriculture and Floriculture Products Herbal and Medicinal Plants

In addition to this, APEDA has been entrusted with the responsibility to monitor import of sugar.

COMPOSITION OF THE APEDA AUTHORITY As prescribed by the statute, the APEDA Authority consists of the following members namely:

A Chairman, appointed by the Central Government The Agricultural Marketing Advisor to the Government of India, ex-officio One member appointed by the Central Government representing the Planning Commission Three members of Parliament of whom two are elected by the House of People and one by the Council of States Eight members appointed by the Central Government representing respectively; the Ministries of the Central Govt. Food Civil Supplies Civil Aviation Shipping and transport Five members appointed by the Central Government by rotation in the alphabetical order to represent the States and the Union Territories Seven members appointed by the Central Govt. representing Indian Council of Agricultural Research National Horticultural Board National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation Central Food Technological Research Institute Indian Institute of Packaging Spices Export Promotion Council and Cashew Export Promotion Council. The Virtual offices have been established in association with respective State Governments / agencies. Basic information about APEDA, its functions, registration and financial assistance schemes etc. is being made available to entrepreneurs / prospective exporters by these virtual offices.

4. Pvt. Ltd./Public Ltd. Co.s/societies should forward a copy of their Memorandum and Article of Association and Partnership firms should forward a copy of partnership deed attested by notary.

Self certified copy of PAN issued by Income Tax Department.

6.

The company should compulsorily mention their e-mail ID, phone and fax number etc. in their application.

7.

In case the exporter desires to register as Manufacturer Exporter, he should furnish the copy of companys registration with FFO, Directorate of Industries, State Dept. of Horticulture/Agmark/EIA etc.

8.

Bank certificate duly signed by the Authorities.

9.

In case of Registration of Merchant Exporter for Meat and Meat Products please indicate the arrangement made with manufacturers whose products are to be exported.

10.

Cash or DD/Pay Order of Rs. 5000/- towards registration may be made in favor of APEDA payable to Specific APEDA office where the request has been made for Seeking RCMC.

Update Company Profile Submit Monthly Export Returns (Party Returns) Apply for Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) Apply for Market Development Assistance Scheme (MDA) Apply for Transport Assistance Subsidy (TAS) Apply for Registration-Cum-Allocation Certificate (RCAC) - Exporter of Rice It is mandatory for APEDA registered member exporter to apply / submit details online for all the above mentioned activities and iTrack System acts as an interface for exporter to apply /submit details to APEDA.

This system also provides a facility for APEDA registered member exporter to check the status of already submitted schemes applications using the Application Tracking No. (ATN) / Application No. (in the case of RCAC) that gets generated as a reference no.at the time of submission of application/details online.

iTrack System generates the "Application Form" for schemes applications and RCAC along with an "Acknowledgement" (in the case of APEDA Schemes application).

Exporter should print the "Application Form" and the "Acknowledgement" (in the case of APEDA Schemes application) generated by iTrack System and submit it along with other support documents to appropriate APEDA office.

To use iTrack system, the exporter need to login with APEDA RCMC No., User ID and password provided by APEDA at the time of registration of membership (RCMC).

News Clippings APEDA e-mail System Latest Exports Statistics Banner Ad Tariff APEDA has provided a facility for all its stakeholders to host banner advertisement at APEDA website. This will enable them to publicize their company, products and services to the target audience. Presently, the facility for banner hosting is for three sections one at home page, second at product page and third at event page. HOME PAGE - Reach out to a global audience through the AEPDA platform. PRODUCT PAGE - The products section pages give a dominant position in the respective sections and gives the unique positioning for the products dealt and company.

EVENT PAGE - Your presence on event page enables to reach all people wanting to know about the events participated by APEDA.

DISCOUNT OFFERS APEDA is pleased to announce discount offers on banner Ad tariff to the stakeholders for market promotion of their products and services on APEDA website and Agri Exchange Trade portal: A 30% discount will be offered to the exporters / stakeholders approaching APEDA. A special discount of Rs 10,000/- will be offered to the APEDA Export Award Winners for the year 2009-10 and 2010-11 on booking of annual Advertisement. Service tax would be charged extra as applicable.

HOW E-GOVERNANCE IS HELPFULL IN ECONIMICAL AND SOCIAL GROWTH OF THE NATION? The use of IT to improve the ability of government to address the needs of society. RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS This website should be more user friendly. It is not easily for people who are new to these areas and who want to work further. It provides helps to the existing firms only. There should be a user recommendation box.
