WHAT IS IT?
If you have a need to access, edit, and manipulate SharePoint resources from a mobile device, SharePlus Pro is an app that will allow you to do that.

SharePlus allows you to manage your SharePoint resources on your mobile device just like you would on your desktop or laptop. It has a feature which allows you to work on pre-selected lists and views while offline, and have your changes synced to SharePoint when you are back online. The app even includes features like wifi document sharing, and document synchronization between a Sharepoint document library and your mobile device. SharePlus is available for free as a Lite version. The Pro version can be purchased for $19.95.

This tool is well received in the market and may be useful to you in certain situations. Because it is a web based service, security procedures are not known so it should only be used to store or access information that has been identified as low risk. It is not an HBS-supported application and in depth product support is provided by the software developer.

WHAT ARE ITS STRENGTHS?

Anytime, anywhere access: Given the high usage of ShareSites at HBS, this app can provide useful mobile access to resources that you have stored on your ShareSite. Intuitive Interface: As a result of the touch interface on mobile devices, the design and layout, as well as the navigation of the application are very intuitive, and easy to get used to. While ShareSites can get complex, the application presents the resources in a logical way that is optimized for a touchscreen. Improved Performance: While ShareSites provide mobile sites for access on tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices, they are often inaccessible, and lack the necessary performance to get work done. SharePlus resolves this by providing the necessary performance levels to navigate and work with your ShareSite. Offline access to your ShareSite: You can choose to sync libraries, lists, and other resources so that even when youre offline you can access your ShareSite objects and items. SharePlus will then sync your changes when you come back online. Wifi Document Sharing: Using SharePlus you can exchange documents and files to any computer or device using a web browser.

WHAT SUPPORT CAN I EXPECT?

HBS support: Technology Support Services can assist with downloading and installing the software and assist with basic questions regarding use. Limited support: Because this is a third party application, in depth product support is provided by the software developer, not HBS. Some users have reported that the developers are difficult to contact, and often unhelpful. Purchase: Individuals must purchase the software via their mobile devices respective app store. This software cannot be purchased by the Information Technology team.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?

Security: While the SharePlus Pro web site states that they take reasonable precautions to protect your information, the details of their procedures are not known and they do not sign contracts to protect the information. Therefore, it should only be used to store or access information that has been identified as low risk, and must not be used for any High Risk Confidential information or any other information that is governed by law or regulatory requirements.

Set up can be complex: Setting up the application access to a ShareSite requires very specific information to be set up properly and as a result, may be more challenging than expected. Synchronization can be unreliable: When some users have used the synchronization tool they have experienced issues with overwriting documents, and changes not syncing. Some were able to get support for their issue, while others were unable to get a satisfactory resolution from the software developer.

To download on the iPad and/or iPhone: 1. 2. 3. 4. Launch the App Store from either your iPhone or iPad. Perform a search for SharePlus Pro. Tap the $19.95 icon for SharePlus: SharePoint Mobile Client twice to download and install the app. Once downloaded and installed the app is available on all of your iOS devices via the home screen. Blackberry Devices SharePlus is available for your Blackberry Playbook by downloading the app in the Blackberry App World. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Open the Blackberry App World application. Perform a search for SharePlus Highlight the correct application Press the Menu key and select View Click Download to download the application to your device The app is now available on your Blackberry device

HOW DO I GET IT?

iOS Devices SharePlus Pro and SharePlus Lite are available as universal apps from the Apple App store. This means that one download will install the app on all of your iOS devices.

HOW DO I CONFIGURE IT?

In the top left corner, tap the + sign to add a new site Name your site something that you will remember Insert that URL for the site beginning with https://inside.hbs.edu/ Select Web Login as your Authentication Mode. Select Account to configure your Directory Account Tap Create New Account Enter HBS in the Alias field The domain can be left blank Your HBS email address is your username Enter your HBS password in the password field Leave the Use Certificate Field Off Turn Use as Default Account On Tap Done Tap Done Your site is now added to the list of available sites in the navigation
