COURSE OBJECTIVES: To make the students aware of errors in measurements, various techniques used in measuring physical-electrical parameters, electronics/electrical principals involved in sensors/transducers and measuring instruments. PRE-REQUISITES: COURSE CONTENTS:

Digital instruments: Introduction to various types of digital volt meters, 3-1/2 Digit, Resolution and sensitivity of digital meters, General specification of a DVM, electronic counter, Digital measurement of frequency , digital tachometer, digital pH meter, automation in digital instrumentation, digital phase meter, digital capacitance meter. Oscilloscope: basic principal, CRT features, block diagram of oscilloscope, simple CRO, Applications of oscilloscope, Delayed sweep, digital storage oscilloscope (DSO), fibre optic CRT recording oscilloscope, oscilloscope operating precautions.
