1. Introduction
Welcome to Softfoundry-the worlds cutting edge technology DVD class Video Phone & Video Meeting system. Softfoundry Vfon/VMeet system is an IP based videoconference software. The following lists the key features of Vfon/ VMeet:

Super Compression Video Codec Using high-powered video codec which makes compressed video stream 4 times smaller than traditional MPEG4, Vfon/VMeet can supply the DVD class video communication via the low bandwidth public Internet. Moreover, Vfon/VMeet system supports QCIF, CIF and VGA, three different video sizes under ADSL network connections.

Advanced VoIP & Video Compression Technology Echo and noise cancellation makes the audio quality clear, stable, and with less delay. Additionally, Vfon/VMeet system can adjust the video/audio parameters automatically according to the network conditions in order to maintain high quality video/audio communications.

Point-to-Point & Multipoint-to-Multipoint Rich-media Communications Vfon/VMeet system supports point-to-point and multipoint-to-multipoint rich-media communications. Clients will be connected to the Vfon/VMeet server when they login to the system. During the conference, Vfon/VMeet system uses point-to-point communications to make the connections between clients safe and stable.

Video Conference Anywhere Vfon/VMeet system keeps the user information in the central server, therefore, clients can access the contact list anywhere.

Instant Message & File Transfer Besides video/audio communications, Vfon/VMeet also supports data conference such as Instant Message and File Transfer etc.

Multi-party Video/Audio Conference With Vfon/VMeet, you can call multiple clients at the same time. All the attendees can hear and see others simultaneously.

Powerful Whiteboard Functions Vfon/VMeet system provides powerful whiteboard functions which make the video conference much convenient and efficient. Clients can share files, images and webpage in the whiteboard.

Presentation/ Files/Application Sharing This function enables clients to share Microsoft Office files or PDF files with other attendees.

Record Video/ Audio Conference Clients can record the video/audio conference by simply clicking the recording button.

Add PSTN lines to Current Conference Vfon/VMeet can call multiple Vfon/VMeet clients or PSTN lines simultaneously.

3. Install Vmeet

Setup will install Softfoundry VMeet in the following folder C:\Program File\Softfoundry VMeet. To install

in a different location, please click and select another folder and click Next to continue.

Select the Start Menu folder in which you would like to create the shortcut of Softfoundry VMeet. The name of the folder can be changed. If you dont like to create a shortcut in the Start Menu, please select Do not create shortcuts. Click continue. to

Select Run Softfoundry VMeet, and click

4. Register Vmeet ID

Please enter your VMeet User ID and Password, and click Network button to do network settings in the first time using.

Server Settings
Please make sure that the server is exactly the one you belong to. To change a server, please enter the web site address or IP address of the server directly. Ordinary users please use vfon.world-telephone.com .

If the server you belong to is located within a company, please click Advance button to do advanced server settings

Advanced Server Settings


This setting will not be applied to ordinary user. . Login to server using TCP protocol Using TCP protocol to login the server. . Always transfer data through proxy server Under strong firewall restriction, user will transmit data through proxy server. . Always connect peer using TCP protocol To achieve good video/audio quality, TCP protocol is always applied when using proxy server. Please check the corresponding boxes and click OK to continue.

Network Type Settings


Please select the upload speed of your network connection . Modem 56 kbps dial-up connection (Audio only) . ISDN ISDN network connection . CDMA 3G network . DSL/Cable/T1 Under ordinary fixed network conditions. User can select the proper upload speed according to the different network conditions. 512 Kbps or above should be selected for MCU function. Please change to a lower upload speed if you can not get good video/audio quality at a higher upload speed.

Proxy Server Settings


If you use a proxy server in a company, please select the type of the proxy from the list, then enter Proxy Server address , Port Number, User and Password to connect to the proxy server. the IE settings (make sure you

4-2. Applying for New Account (Direct Application)

Applying for New Account


Get a VMEET ID directly: You will receive a new account immediately. However, the current computer will not be able to use this Immediate Application function again. (Please use 4-2-2)

Get a VMEET ID by email: A new account will be sent to the email stated by you. Please follow the instructions stated on the email to complete the application.(Refer to 4-3) 2.

Confirm Network Settings


Please ensure that your network settings are correct so as to facilitate the application.

Basic Information
Please fill in Nick Name and Password fields. Confirm your password in Password Again field and click Next to continue. Nick Name: This is to display your name on VMEET. It can be changed through the personal setting. Password: This password is for authentication purpose when you login.

It is recommended that you fill in the email field. Allow others to view my contact info This is to select who you wish to allow to view your information. Everyone: Allows anyone to search for you (recommended for company account). Friends Only: Only allow contacts in your contact list to search for you. No one: Restrict anyone from viewing your profile directly

Privacy Details
Login invisibly automatically when program starts Each time you login, you will appear offline to other users. However, you can still make and receive calls. Issuing of VMEET ID
Please take down your VMEET ID and password as they are needed for login in following steps. If you had previously installed VMeet on this computer, it will show You have applied VMEET ID using this machine. Please use the application by email option.

Click Finish to proceed.

Login
Please enter your VMeet ID and password to login. Remember Password: Do not need to enter your password again for subsequent login. Automatic Login You will be login automatically when you execute VMEET. Invisible You will appear offline to other users. Run VMEET on startup: VMEET will run each time you switch on your computer.

After connecting and installing the headset, microphone, and webcam to your PC, you can use Tuning Wizard to verify that these devices are working properly

Audio and Video Setup Click Next to continue.

Speaker or Headset Setup


Please make sure that the speaker or headset is already plugged into your PC, click to check if it is working properly. Adjust the speaker or headset to a proper volume. Click Next to the next step.

Microphone Setup

Please make sure that the microphone is already plugged into your PC. To get better sound effect, please do not use the laptops built-in microphone or the accessory microphone of the webcam.

If the indicator goes to the yellow area as you speak, the microphone is adjusted properly. Click Next to continue

WebCam Setup

Please make sure that the webcam is plugged into your PC, and installed properly. Select the

webcam you would like to use, and adjust the

webcam settings by click Finish to close the Tuning Wizard window.

Click to establish this function: You are able to choose to record your voice and video. You will able to receive messages from your friends conveniently even though you are not at your desktop. After you have finish recording, click stop then click your message. Click to oreview to save.

7. Start Using VMEET


7-1. How to make a call
Click

Before the conference, select MCU

Only one party of the conference shall start

the MCU function by selecting [Start MCU combining PC and PSTN phones. The party, who started MCU call other party

by entering the contact number using the key pad PSTN users can make sure of 6-8-2 method

to store in phonebook so that he can call directly in future. Note: If you are cannot enable the MCU function, please set the upload speed of the network 512K or above and try again.

Multi-party conference under a congested network:


One party will enable MCU and other attendees will be invited in. For other users, the bandwidth usage is only the speed of one-to-one conference. The party who start the MCU should be on a

good network condition and uses at least a P4 computer Please enable MCU before the

conference Only one party is to enable [Start MCU combining video calls]. The party who enabled the MCU invite other users into the conference by using the keypad.

7-2-4. Adjust remote video size


Enlarge and reduce the remote video size, even to it full screen.

7-2-5. Avoid Broken Image


This function is for designed for the clients in poor network conditions. Enabling the function can reduce the chance of broken images in the congested network. But this will lead to some delay in the video stream.

7-3. Record Function


Record current conference Click on to record current conference.

Click again to stop recording. The recorded content includes all the video and audio content in the conference.
