The video is about Mathematics micro teaching. Teacher teach about fractions. From our observations there were some weaknesses and strengths in the teaching and learning process.

i.

Did the teacher establish a suitable mood for learning, motivating students to learn, and explaining the usefulness of the teaching session?

From our observasion teacher does not create an attractive learning environment. Teaching and learning process more focused on teacher. This makes teaching and learning process is rather tedious. teachers should involve students directly with teaching and learning process. Teachers should also develop the activity of which can involve students and make teaching and learning process to be bilateral and more focused on student. The teaching and learning process will be more interesting if the teacher can create activities that would attract the attention and participation of students. The good class management will help teacher to make the teaching and learning process more interesting and effective. Teacher need to know how to manage their classroom to make their teaching more interesting. In this video teacher did not movating her students to learn. She only gives the information about the topic which she want teach without creat an activity that can involved students in teaching and learning process. Teachers should provide an activity that involves all students in order to determine the induction set to know the students knowledge related to the topic of be taught. Teacher should not only provide information without know the students knowledge. Teacher must be explain clearly to the students what they will learn so the students will be prepared to learn something.

ii.

Did the teacher introduce the session, outline the content, and set out the learning objectives clearly?

The teacher did not introduce the session well. She also did not tell the students about outline the content and set out the learning objectives clearly. She must explain clearly about the topic that she want to teach. If students had learn the topic before teacher must creat an activity to relate the new topic with the topic that she had teach before. In our observation teacher do not correlate with what they have learned before. She must be creat an activity which relate with the topic they had learn before to test students understanding about the topic. She must recall what students had learn before go to the new topic. For example teacher has said that they had learn about fraction yesterday but she do not gives or creat any activities to test students knowledge about the topic they had learn before. At the beginning of the teaching session, the teacher just said only that the topic of study for the day is a continuation of the topics to be learned yesterday. What is the topic? It is better to make it as a set of induction. If it is used as a set of induction, it can help students recall the topic being studied. Indirectly it may be associated with the topic of equivalent fractions. In addition, the yesterday topic can also be used as a refresher or remind students about the topic they have learn before and creat the activity which can be related to the topic of improper fractions.

iii.

Did the teacher pace the session well, allowed time for questions and student interaction?

From our observations the teacher do not pace the session well and allowe time for questions and students interaction. In this session only the teacher has talking and gives instructions compare with the students. She asked the questions and she answer the question without give time to students to answer the questions. There is no interaction between teacher and students because the learning and teaching process is

only one way it is from the teacher not students. The students only sit and hear what teacher want to teach without do any activities which related with the topic. Teacher should be plan two way activities that involved students and teacher. The teaching and learning process should be focused on students with teacher as a fasilitator. Teacher should be lets students do activities to make them more understand with the topic has been taught. For example : Teacher give students a piece of paper and ask them to divided it into severals parts such as two parts, four parts and six parts. Then ask them to shaded two parts then name it. Example.

=
Or teacher can give students two pieces of apple and ask them to cut one of the apple into two parts and another one into four parts. Then asked them to compare the size of the one part from two parts and four parts. Then students will be find that two parts from from four pats is same size with one over two parts. The activities will be make the teaching and learning process more interesting and can help students more understand about the topic.

iv.

Did the teacher clarify any terminology used, summarise periodically and check the students understanding?

The teacher do not clarify any terminology used , summarise periodically and check the students understanding. Teacher only focus on what she want to show to the students without checking students understanding. Teacher should be explain clearly to the students what is equivalents fractions and impropher fracttions and what is propher

fractions. With the explanation from the teacher, students will be more understand with the topic.

v.

Did the teacher use any resources (Powerpoint/slides/flipchart) and if so did they use these effectively maintaining eye contact and interaction with their audience? The teacher only used flash card as her teaching aid. And the teaching aid is not suitable with the students because the font and the image is too small. The teaching aid can not show clearly about what she want to teach. For students who sit on the back of the class the font and the paper is too small. The better way is teacher use power point / slides to introduce her topic. Or she can bring concrete objects such as fruits or cake to introduce about fractions. Teacher can give to her students a piece of apple and ask them to cut into several parts to introduce fractions. With the activity students will be more understand and the teaching and learning proces will be more interesting.

vi.

At the end of the session did the teacher sum up the session, repeat the key learning objectives and provide a sense of achievement to students?

In our opinion the teaching and learning process is not finished yet because teacher do not give students assessment to assess students understanding. She also do not make a conclusion to close the teaching and learning process. In our opinion the teaching objectives can not be seen clearly. Teachers do not guide the students to achieve her teaching and learning objectives. Teacher should help students to achieve her learning objectives. Teacher must be create an activity to guide her students to achieves her objective.

vii.

According to your observation and participation, what are advantages and disadvantages in this lesson? Explain.

According to our observation and participation the advantages in this lesson is teacher can control her class well. She can teach her lesson without discruption from her students. The teaching and learning process was running smoothly but she maybe forgoten to involve her students in teaching and learning process because what we see only her talking and explain about the topic without any activities involved her students. The disadvantges in this lesson is teacher do one way interaction , it is only focus on teacher without any instruction from the students. Teacher must be create activities which can involve all her students and the students learn for their own from their experience when they do the learning activities. The weaknessess in this lesson is the teacher do not involve her students in her lesson. No activities or questions that can stimulate students to learn and uset their creativity to understand the learning. What teacher must do is create activities or question to make her students more creative and more agresive to learn. Its mean teacher must involve students in their teaching and learning process.
