I visited Ellen Kingery at Glennville Elementary School. I assist some students on checking out books from the Media Center. I also learned that the Media Specialist is responsible for ordering all materials and equipment for the school. She has to submit a Needs list for the School by the end of the previous school year. This list has to be a prioritize list of the needs. She has to maintain a budget for the school for Technology Equipment and the Library. I also discovered a staff development need for GES. The program Animoto is a video sharing program that would be an excellent tool for the staff to start using in the classroom. Mrs. Kingery needs to have her teachers training on this program. This is an area I discussed with Mrs. Kingery for me to teach as my staff development workshop. I visited with Travis Zetterhower with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. He is the IT Specialist for the Cooperative Extension Service. I met with Travis at the Vidalia Onion Vegetable Research Center. Travis was providing Technical Support for the Ag Forecast meeting. Travis thought it would be good for me to observe him in action. Travis spends a lot of time setting up equipment for meetings and coordinating meetings through Wimba. Travis discussed his many tasks outside of supporting 40 county offices with multiple computers, networks, and servers. Travis showed me how to link several power point presentations into another presentation. We had four speakers with four different power point presentations that needed to be linked together with a wireless clicker. Exploring the Animoto website. Discussed with Mrs. Kingery the advantages in the classroom to using this program for teachers and students. I worked in the Media Center with Mrs. Ellen at Glennville Elementary School. I observed kids checking out books for the AR Program. Mrs. Ellen keeps up with the students points for AR. She also plans and coordinates the AR celebrations at the end of every 9 weeks. Met with Lynna Hilliard, Technology Director for Tattnall County Board of Education. She showed me around in the server room and talked through the troubleshooting process to support all 7 schools in Tattnall. Also I interviewed the 2 Technology Specialists. One works with the server side of support and the other troubleshoots and provides support at each school. I worked with Jay Brown at GES setting up lap tops in classrooms, reconnecting printers to the desktop in a classroom. We also checked on the equipment in the 4 computer labs at GES. Worked on pulling information into my portfolio and my staff development training workshop. Worked on a test video for the staff development training.
