Call for Presentations

Does research drive practice or does practice drive research? You are invited to share your expertise, research and promising practices in the field of aging by submitting a proposal for presentations or poster session by Wednesday May 15, 2013. Join Keynote Speakers Majd Alwan, SVP of Technology, LeadingAge & Executive Director, Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) and Jay Bulot, Director, Georgia Division of Aging Services as they open and close the day with compelling arguments on the importance of making the connection between research and practice. This event will provide the unique opportunity for the two very different, yet very similar worlds of Research & Education and Practice & Service to connect in a day of shared learning and networking. Practitioners want to become aware of the current research, technology as well as gain information about what is on the horizon. They often want to offer sites for pilot projects and internships to assist in advancing the work in the field of aging. Researchers and academicians want to make sure they are in touch with current aging trends, service delivery models as well as gain a better understanding of some of the on-going challenges providers are facing in their day to day interactions with older Georgians. This CONNECTION between these two worlds will ultimately support us in better serving older Georgians throughout the state.

Presentation Information
Researchers: we are looking for innovative research that will assist practitioners in their day-to-day work with older adults. Presentations introducing new philosophies, technology and techniques will be considered favorable. Practitioners: we are looking for presentations on aging trends, new approaches to service delivery and promising practices in working with older adults. Where applicable, practitioners and researchers will be paired to allow for sessions aimed at the exchanging of ideas around specific topics. This may be best demonstrated via panels with time for Q/A at the end of each workshop.
