Icosit KC 330/2M

Product description:

Icosit KC 330/2M is a flexible two-component polymer grout based on polyurethane resin, hand and machine applicable. Icosit KC 330/2M is designed as load-bearing, vibration-absorbing flexible grout for undersealing layers in precision alignment of rails, turnouts/switches etc. for fixing track components to rigid substrates such as concrete slabs, steel bridge decks and in tunnels. Mainly used as noise and vibration reducing grout for LRT track sections under discrete baseplates. Excellent electrical insulation against stray currents. Product tolerates damp substrate. grey 100 parts by weight component A (resin) 10 parts by weight component B (hardener) 176 kg units A + B (machine application only) 3 kg cartridges The components are supplied in the correct mixing ratio. In sealed and undamaged original containers, in dry environment at room temperature approx. 9 months. Cartridges to be transported and stored in upright position.

Particulars and technical data: Properties: Icosit KC 330/2M possesses visco-elastic, vibration and sound absorbing properties and remains flexible in a cured condition. Liquid applied by injection or pouring. No need to level irregular substrates. Optimum performance maintained over a wide range of thicknesses, allowing greater casting tolerance of concrete substrates. Excellent electrical resistance characteristics prevent stray currents. Excellent adhesion to steel and concrete which prevents underflow of water and pumping (hydraulic wear). May reduce or eliminate the need for anchor bolts. Quick cure allows early trafficking in maintenance situations. The Icosit KC range of rail grouts has provided problem free and maintenance free operations for over 30 years to date.

Hints on application: Surface preparation: The surface may be damp but should be free of dust, oil and grease. Prior to injecting Icosit KC 330/2M water drops must be removed, e.g. by compressed air. Superficial contamination by oil and grease can be removed by Thinner C. Concrete: When particularly good adhesion is required, e.g. if no anchor bolts are used (special application needing extra consultation), contact surfaces should be blastcleaned (sweep blasted) and then primed with Icosit KC 330 Primer or Icosit 277. Steel: As with concrete, all loose particles and mill scale should be removed. When maximum adhesion is required, steel should be blastcleaned to Swedish Standard Sa 2 (North American Standard SSPC-SP-6-63 respectively) and then primed with Icosit 277.

Preparation of materials:

Construction

Icosit KC 330/2M consists of component A and B, preweighed in the correct proportions. Prior to application stir component A well. Both components must be thoroughly mixed in the container or cartridge with an electric or pneumatic drill and a special stirring rod, taking care that the material is thoroughly mixed, especially at the bottom and walls of the container. Do not hold the stirrer in a static position as this will result in improper mixing. Whilst mixing, observe the following instructions: 1. electric or pneumatic stirrer approx. 600 800 rpm 2. stirring time approx. 90 seconds 3. make sure to properly reach walls and bottom of container. For the application of the 3 kg cartridges, we can supply the following equipment: Stirring rod 207 (compulsory) Cartridge holder 252 (compulsory) Pneumatic injection gun 251 (strongly recommended). Needs compressor with rating of 150 to 200 litres/minute, operating pressure 4 bar (58 p.s.i.). Electric timer surface temperature: min. +0 C/32 F ambient temperature: min. +0 C/32 F material temperature: approx. +15 C/59 F approx. 10 min. at +20 C/68 F After this time the material will become unserviceable. DO NOT add any solvents! Higher temperatures will reduce pot-life. After surface preparation, the contact surfaces are primed with undiluted Icosit KC 330 Primer by brush or roller. Primer in opened containers must be used within one day. If waiting times of more than 8 days are expected between priming and sealing with Icosit KC 330 or if the concrete is green (younger than 20 days) of if a solvent-containing primer is not acceptable, Icosit 277 should be used. Immediately after application, Icosit 277 should be blinded with quartz sand 0.4 0.7 mm.

Application method:

Application technique: Sleeperless fixation of rail tracks with discrete baseplates: 1. Adjust rail to correct line and level. 2. Drill holes to accommodate anchor bolts (normally 2 per baseplate, diagonally placed) 3. Apply Icosit KC 330 Primer (or Icosit 277 respectively) 4. Fix baseplates loosely to rail foot, 5. Fill bolt holes with pourale epoxi grout, consisting of 1 part by weight Icosit KC 220/60 TX and 1 part by weight dy quartz sand of 0.4 0.7 mm granulometry. Place anchor bolts. 6. Fit shuttering frame treated with release agent. 7. Mix Icosit KC 330/2M in cartridge as described above and replace nozzle which has previously been cut to a suitable size. Extrude air by pushing the cartridge bottom (piston) upwards (e.g. piece of timber 6 by 6 cm, 10 15 cm long). 8. Inject Icosit KC 330/2M between baseplate and substrate. 9. After a waiting time of 4 6 hours, the formwork can be removed. Curing time: Tack-free at +20 C/68 F after 2 hours.

Serviceable:

At +20 C/68 F after 24 hours.
