Doing Good.
FANCY FOOD SHOW
There were several products at the show positioned
solely around the company’s socially-responsible
business. Project 7 is a for-profit company asking
consumers to take part and help “change the score.”
Project 7 sells everyday products, such as bottled
water and gum, to help contribute to seven critical
needs in the world, with at least 50% of its profits
going to non-profit organizations that service these
needs. Teatulía sells teas that come from a virgin
soil tea garden in Bangladesh. Teatulía’s sales are
directed toward its mission to help better the lives
of the people of Bangladesh while rebuilding the
ecosystem. BuyWell Fair Trade Coffee invests in
sustainable development initiatives in communities
where the coffee is grown, and in its home location.
Make It Crunch.
Pita Chips started this trend, and other
breads are following. From Flamous Brands,
we tasted delicious Falafel Chips, and New
York Style is launching Focaccia Sticks. From
Tyrells, we also saw root vegetable chips, like
beetroot, parsnips, and carrots, along with
apple chips. The size of the chip category
would suggest: if you can make it crunch,
you have a winner.

Stand-Out Teas.
Tea companies abounded at the show, which isn’t new. But
there were a few companies that had stand-out new products.
Tea forté, known for its designer packaging and presentation,
has launched tea for cocktails. Golden Star Tea Co. offers a
white jasmine sparkling tea that’s sophisticated and delicious
enough for dinner parties. Numi Tea launched a new tea line
called Puerh Tea, which is fermented during the drying process
to brew a cup with more antioxidants than green tea.

Creating Theater.
FANCY FOOD SHOW
In its category, Republic of Tea started this concept almost 17 years ago by
offering not just tea, but all the complementary products that went with it, to
help consumers enjoy a tea lifestyle. Tea Forté continues the concept, paring its
beautiful packaging with hardware goods that further bring the products to life
and are all about presentation. Tea over Ice™ is one such creation, shown here.
Design Extremes.
On the one hand, we saw some beautiful clean, minimalist designs in products such
as Dry Soda, Venga, and ModMix. On the other hand, we also saw some beautiful,
ornate, intricate designs in products like Fentiman’s Ginger Beer.
