JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title Planning Engineer 1. Scope of Position The Planner is responsible for the development and implementation of suitable project systems and procedures to monitor and forecast the project performance and manage changes within the project. This role is a key strategic one within the organisation and as such is a senior appointment. 2. Key Responsibilities 1. Maintenance of adequate communication links and interfaces between all project disciplines and senior management 2. Coordinate inputs and assemble Project Execution Plan 3. Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) 4. Establish and maintain master project schedule 5. Maintain surveillance of all project activities and where necessary initiate corrective actions to meet the projects objectives 6. Liaise with Project Team to ensure project schedule target dates are maintained 7. Ensure adherence to or improvement on project time schedule 8. Identification and management of project risks 9. Attend regular progress review meetings to facilitate the production of regular progress reports. 3. Qualifications Essential English is the main language to be used on the contract and therefore the candidate should be able to demonstrate good verbal and written English. Administration PA036

Desirable Ideally, candidates should be able to operate at degree level or equivalent. The ability to communicate in Arabic would be an advantage. 2. Experience Essential: Experience of working in Syria or the Middle East Proven experience of planning and successfully executing a large scale manufacturing project from inception to completion Knowledge of industry standard planning applications, such as Primivera Desirable: Experience of working within the Steel industry sector. Knowledge of Earned Value Analysis techniques would be an advantage 3. Other Attributes / Abilities The candidate should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the strategic issues affecting the business and be a results orientated proactive self-starter. He should be able to offer practical examples of when he has used the competencies identified below. 4. Core Competencies
