Model Digital Age Work and Learning

Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning Target Audience The target audience is any teacher who has an iPad and would like to set up Apple TV so that they can wirelessly project from their iPad onto a projection screen (age range 21 and older). The educational level is certified, educational professionals who teach in a classroom environment. Entry level skills should include basic computer knowledge and basic iPad knowledge. Learning styles will include visual, logical and kinesthetic. Motivation Many teachers are being awarded grants and buying new technology like the iPad and Apple TV, but hooking this all up can be tricky especially after using a PC for so long. I plan to create a video that demonstrates how to set up Apple TV to project an iPad wirelessly on a projection screen. I will use humor throughout the video to hold their attention. I will use concrete language for all beginners. Students will need to know that after they watch this video they will be able to set up their own Apple TV to project what they are teaching from their iPads. The teachers will feel satisfied that they will be able to install and navigate their own devices after watching the video without technical support. The video will be an actual, physical demonstration on setting up Apple TV and how it looks in a classroom that uses this technology. The video will not be a screen cast, but will have actors who portray a frustrated teacher that has just received all of this new technology, but has no idea how to make his/her projector work. The video will then demonstrate how to hook up Apple TV and get it all started so the iPad wirelessly projects just as well as that old laptop once did. Objectives (ABCD format) After viewing the demonstration video, teachers and educators will be able to set up and use Apple TV in their classroom without outside technical assistance.
